v Derby County (a) - 8/3/2025
Plastics replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As much as points aren't much for Derby these days they need a first shut out to build from under Eustace. For that reason I can see it being 0-0 or 1-0 either side unless we score early and they collapse. I think that's less likely than the other listed potentials, though. I will go 1-0 Rovers and keep some optimism after the late equaliser with ten men -

The players will certainly be up for it -
This is Rovers tinted glasses. He's not even playing for England regularly or doing it at a top team. He has the potential to be better than Carrick but already "some distance better than prime Carrick" is ridiculous. Players go off the boil (not that I think he will) or end up played out of position at the wrong club. Where did you rank Jones when he left us for United? I bet you had him as above Adams

New Law - Keeper Time Wasting
Plastics replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If the referees have to say something as a warning with five seconds left then that's any time the keeper has it for three seconds. So the time has gone up from six seconds but requires more work from the ref. Also I feel like indirect free kicks are more dangerous than corners (though that's a guess given the stats on corners). Might make for some interesting pressing when the keeper has it and more long kicks. They are refreshing it to hope it reinvigorates the law but just order the refs to enforce the existing rule. Fine the refs if they don't enforce it enough -

I think we will lose tomorrow and then go on to have a solid end to the season and be there or there abouts. Whilst a victory will see us safe of Norwich for the foreseeable (and possibly the season), I can see a defeat as he gets to grips with what he wants but it certainly won't make or break the season beyond how any game would if you miss out on the playoffs by one point or goal difference. Then every missed draw can be used as the reason why. There's no must wins until mathematical certainties present themselves, there's no games we can't win and there's no gimmes. It's the championship. Not everything has to be catastrophised, nor do we need to get carried away with optimism when on a run. Every game since Eustace left has been described as a must win, even when we won two on the bounce. Clearly no singular game is a must win right now. Some want to say that this will be the defining game but definitions can only be made later down the line and only if it fits into a trend for what transpires later. -
BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread

My first Rovers memory was the Play Off final against Leicester. I had diarrhea and so my dad had to keep taking me to the toilet and miss the game. The only part I remember is the goal. I was stood on a seat to watch it but when everyone jumped up to celebrate I fell down the back and got stuck and cried and nobody realised. Still a great memory. The next earliest memory I have is the season after attending my first home game. My dad wanted to see if I was old enough to understand and value what was happening. He was enjoying the game, looked to the side and saw me with a straw poking a pie that had fallen on the floor. I didn't go again regularly until a couple of seasons later when I had my first season ticket and we won the league -

Stop the unnecessary whingeing at the source and it will stop the follow up whingeing. Stop the secondary whingeing and you'll still have the first whingeing -

No such thing as a must win until it becomes mathematically necessary -
Yes, I can visualise that better thank you. So he needs to maintain Lowe form

We've had three defenders that have played for Bayern already so why not have another? I'm quite optimistic -
What does 1.58 PPG translate to in results in the smallest amount of games? Like finding the common denominator in fractions? Doesn't have to add up to 1.58 exact but as a guide. Obv can work out what results we need over the rest of the season but can it be broken down into smaller chunks so we can need a certain level of results over, say, five games or six games?

Why would anybody care what Tim Farron has to say about anything? -
They'd mess the paperwork up
-
Nobody has done for Forshaw but I was in the family stand back then and I could hear it for Andrews from different ends to mine
-
What's indefensible about saying Forshaw isn't as bad as many on here say (worst to wear a Rovers shirt) or that the booing of Andrews when he touched the ball was detrimental to the cause? Neither players are all time greats but both do/did a specific job

Play offs - hypothetical scenario

Nah, let them go out of business -
That might have been me as Braddock so that looks like a conspiracy theory on your part. I'm defending Forshaw a lot now so if I stop posting after this season you'll no doubt be making claims about that. I remember defending Andrews a lot as despite not being very good the attacks were ridiculous, like the ridicule for his pointing. Also, people booing him when he had the ball.

People get so defensive when it's suggested that writing people off before they've started is hasty. All of a sudden it becomes a free speech debate.

Imagine the extra dexterity, he'd get it done 20% faster

Did some research to point out that it won't be as many as most clubs fanbases but I was proven wrong so maybe you're right -

I would imagine that distance means that they are unembarrassable when it comes to Rovers. Too far away to be impacted. It's also difficult to embarrass them given there's less of an obvious ethical dimension that reaches past our fanbase to leverage. Animal rights and environmental activist's have had good success by targeting businesses associated with the companies they are working with (whoever provides services for them eg insurance, vending machines, anything). Basically just being a pain in the neck and disrupting things. It's tough to do that in the name of a football club and getting outsiders to care, plus to find people passionate enough to risk criminal action being taken against them. Most legal methods (or still legal methods) are quite ineffectual in a case like this. The book Your Neighbour Kills Puppies is a very interesting look at how companies where isolated and forced to close down as running them became unprofitable despite government subsidies.Charged: How the Police Try to Suppress Protest is also very useful when it comes to seeing what is possible to do these days and what isn't. The companies associated with them are unlikely to be shamed into not working with them purely because of a football club in another country. I imagine affecting their bottom line is the only way they will care so any way to impact that is something. Maybe specific games where people don't buy tickets. Any adverse attention seen by people who would buy their product (so in India) would also be something. Tough to embarrass them here when they don't pay attention so perhaps taking out adverts over there would be something. -

Never rule out a response. Just like how Swansea could have always been a defeat and a bump back down to earth (shouldn't have been to the extent it was, though), this one could just as easily be a two goal comfortable win. Norwich are very hit and miss, especially their top scorer who I heard a Norwich fan described as playing like a schoolboy. Apparently refuses to pass most of the time and just goes for goal. Once he's double marked he's ineffective, though. Remains to be seen if we actually do that though. Apparently he will be leaving at the end of the season to bigger things so the fans haven't even taken to him despite the goals. Too early to predict a team until we know who is back. Ohashi getting zero minutes in the last game means I presume he won't start. No idea on Carter yet. Nor Cantwell. I'd stick Buckley in for Forshaw but the hole is the difficult position to decide. I'd probably go for Dolan and stick Kargbo and another winger in but the other wingers are so out of form it's tough to decide who
