  1. Oh yeah, no doubting that! But I bet their fans were absolutely made up with the fact that they brought those players in and used the money wisely.
  2. Nope, only profit in cash counts as far as I am aware.
  3. Mowbray told the LT that he expects none of the Arma money to come back to the squad. I suppose the wider issue is we’ve spent the Arma money before selling him, and for the most part wasted it.
  4. This is the most reliable one I’ve seen (blue tick). £21.3m.
  5. Is anyone else a bit gutted that we’re about to make our record sale and not a penny of it will go back into the squad? When you see what Spurs did (Bale), Norwich (Maddison) and now Villa (Grealish) are doing whilst making silly money sales, and compare it to what we will do, it does just compound all of the misery of the past 11 years.
  6. You can’t stop death, it is a natural part of life, and as the world evolves, causes of death are changing. In no way am I saying that drink driving is acceptable, it’s abhorrent, especially when alcohol free lager and gin exist and taste the same, however your point just leads to more open ended options. We can stop deaths from many different things by locking ourselves away for eternity, but what’s the point? I’d rather a shorter life lived, than live until the age of 100 and be bored senseless for the next 75 years. I’m not sure too many would argue against that. Many scientists & politicians have God complexes, which has resulted in them all wanting to be the ones who change the course of humanity for longer lives, but they completely disregard all other factors involved in living a life, and focus purely on your body having oxygen and blood coursing through your veins. Sorry for the rant, and not a dig at you, just been building up a while clearly!
  7. Jalil Saadi came in from France didn’t he? Not that he’s recently joined, but he’s the only non-domestic one I can think of.
  8. My language points to how angry your post made me, nothing more. It is not unreasonable to expect equal treatment to everyone else, at all. You don’t think the younger generation are disproportionately affected, because they haven’t died? Young people are the ones that are going to have to pick up the bill for this, despite many of their industries being destroyed, for a virus that does not damage them in general. In fact, it doesn’t do much damage to anyone healthy.
  9. In short, get fucked. ’vastly discounted rate’, so it fucking should be, young adults are more often than not the ones in the worst financial position. Young families, poorer wages, high outgoings etc. Think this says a lot about you that you seem to have a grievance for this age category getting a discounted ticket price. They would get the same % discount as everyone else (if they had a ST last year), so they wouldn’t be getting it at a cheaper rate. Anyone aged 23 the day of the Derby game back in 2020, is looking at a £220 price increase, straight off the back of a worldwide pandemic that has disproportionately effected their age group, now that Waggott has reduced the YA age category by 2 years. Have some fucking perspective.
  10. I can vividly remember the vast majority of the stadium (probably 75%) standing up to “stand up, if you want Venky’s Out”, live on Sky, at home to Wigan just after Alcaraz scored. It did nothing to the chicken chokers’ opinion & there’s never been a show of unity like it since. As many have mentioned, they’ll never be effected by any form of protest because they simply don’t give a shit. I have no idea what the solution is, but NAPM even with that level of unity probably wouldn’t make a difference, which is highly painful.
  11. Oh aye, such a fantastic trip to our neighbours across the Pennines/back in the 1970’s.
  12. We’re also playing Bradford away the week before Bolton apparently.
  13. You may be right but everyone I’ve spoken to today thinks it’ll be great. Though I have just been told that the Beehive got ruined in the Horwich flood. Touch unfortunate.
  14. Exactly why you laugh when you can…
  15. Can’t say I disagree with you to be fair. I really like all 4 & AWB, it’s great that we have such depth there. FWIW I think he will take 3, as Walker can play CB in a 3. Then it will be Trippier and either/or from James & TAA. I wouldn’t disagree with that either myself, but I would say Trent has more ‘big game’ experience than James, and that may edge it, but also GS doesn’t seem to like TAA.
  16. I’m not digging you out, but I saw this earlier. I think Trent is the best we have due to his versatility but I was shocked to see these stats. https://twitter.com/joel_archie/status/1397145363916673029?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1397145363916673029|twgr^|twcon^s1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-40320892142202381041.ampproject.net%2F2105150310000%2Fframe.html Link didn’t go how I expected, here are the stats: Defensive statistics this season (league games only) Tackle success: Trent 57.9% Walker 54.3% Trippier 43.9% James 38.8% Dribbled past per 90: Trent 0.71 Walker 0.74 James 1.14 Trippier 1.16 Ball recoveries per 90: Trent 9.97 Trippier 8.87 Walker 8.66 James 8.18
  17. On the face of it, Bolton away is a brilliant fixture. Should be cheap, it’s local, and we will get a decent allocation. As it looks like it’ll be one of the first games for almost 18 months, I suspect a sellout (despite everyone on here saying they aren’t going again under TM - myself including) & hopefully a good day on the beers. Added benefit of rubbing it into Bolton that they’re hosting us in a PSF, because they’re shit. To be fair to the club (if they organised it rather than being approached), it’s a great bit of planning.
  18. Is this to say he’s actually pissed off about it? If so, another reason to fuck him off. What a tosser if he’s really not made up for him!
  19. Poor Lionel. His contract is up at Barca and now he’s going to be shown up by Ben, and replaced by him after a £75m transfer…
  20. Ah, you’re clearly being a pedantic pr!ck for the sake of it, I see. I said their fan base would grow as everything improves there, so the fact that the last season with fans at all games, they achieved a higher than 5k attendance, it would make sense to believe they’d build on that. Have a good weekend 👍🏼
  21. Well given that they did that 2 years ago, I’d say that’s very wrong.
  22. I think that’s misleading. They have a very big catchment area and for a National League club do very well attendance wise. As they grow the club and interest in the club, their attendances will grow with them.
  23. The club called me the other day to pick up my flag after it being on display since last summer. I don’t live in Blackburn so collecting it mid week whilst I work isn’t exactly possible. With both Blues & Roverstore being open again, why they cannot do it on a Saturday is beyond me, it’s not like there won’t be club staff at the ground. Just another example of the club being utterly thoughtless when it comes to the fans. **edit** My reason for putting this comment in this thread is that I think we’ll be waiting a while for season tickets, because they treat us with such contempt.
  24. A friend of mine is a Wrexham fan and he’s told me a lot about it in great detail. It seems it all stemmed from Rob’s upbringing. Philly is in a similar economic position to Wrexham & when he decided he wanted to own a football club (I can’t remember why that was), he spent a long time researching and realised Wrexham are the perfect match. Ambitious, decent sized club down on their luck with a big and passionate fanbase, and also (crucially) affordable for his project. They aren’t likely to win the UCL, but they’re going to be secure for a very long time, well after the Hollywood sign is a distant memory, because it is a passion project and the plans are in motion to build the club up at an infrastructure level, board level and team level. My envy knows no bounds.
