Would love it if someone could post the Cork tackle on Dolan. Ref had a clear view. Wonder if it was because it was the mighty champions and their captain that he didn't issue a red, or whether it was because Dolan didn't seem to make too much noise about it considering the contact could have been a lot worse than it was. -

Just give him the armband and build the team around him for next season. 🙂 -

Only one but I do think his view was obstructed. I think the bigger call was not sending Cork off. That situation happened right before their goal as well, with Carter being unfortunate. We looked the better side up until that point and 0-0 would have put us sixth so now we're reliant on other teams. Hopefully Sheffield United shore up second and Luton rest a few of their starters against us. Luton are unbeaten in three months I believe so we need all the help we can get. Millwall are solid too and the kind of (physical) side we have struggled with in the past. Think we can beat them if we keep performing like tonight. -

I can understand why the linesman can't see this: handball.jfif -

I'm sure our strategy of taking short corners is backed up by stats, although we're probably wrecking those statistics this season. Tbf. this lot don't have many goals in them period. -

Other than the ref. Tbh. the biggest disappointments was versus Coventry and PNE for me. It's been a cruel few games with little reward, but I believe in this project and think we'll be a side to reckon with next season. Not giving up all hope of reaching the play-offs yet but it's not looking likely. -

It's also where the difference in quality shines through. A good finished doesn't need 12 chances per goal. I'm not sure when was the last time we scored from a set piece, does anyone know? -

Red all day for Cork. Ref bottled it. Great performance from us, Burnley showed after they scored why they are champions and saw the game out profesionally. Not a lot of options for JDT tonight and it showed when we needed to change things around towards the end. A. Wharton, what a player. -

Might be a controversal opionion ('free thought'), but I feel sometimes Lewis Travis gets us sucked into battles when we can opt to play the passing game instead. He loves to scraps like in the second half yesterday, and I think he played well enough, but on the ball he will draw fouls instead of trying to stay positive and try and kill games off by getting another goal or two. Do anyone agree? -

I don't think they mind facing us in the play-offs. Should be able to outmuscle this bunch fairly easily. Millwall would be a worse match for them imo. -

Who would you start if Gallagher is out for a few weeks? Dolan proved versus Hull and tonight that he shouldn't play central striker. -

Szmodics 'marked' him. Could still have been cleared on the first post though. With the amount of set pieces they had in the final third of the match, it was no wonder they eventually scored. Poor decision by the ref not to see the handball but we could easily have been down to ten men with Travis close to a second yellow as well. -

We can beat PNE and Millwall, and Luton might be resting a few players against us. Burnley I'm fairly certain will smash us (again). Credit to Robins for making changes at HT, they looked a different side in the second half. -

He doesn't look right, but I'd start him over Dolan. Maybe start Sorba next and put Ben in the middle if Sam is out for a fortnight. -

Fuck off ref. Wearing thin, we don't have many good options off the bench at the moment. A great performance tonight, but unfortunately the season is starting to take its toll and would have been good if JRC, Brittain and Gallagher could've played on. Dolan looked totally lost out there, it was like going down to ten men. Only criticism of the performance was the amount of silly freekicks we gave away towards the end. -
He's good off the ball offensively, not defensively. He's also lightweight, but both those attributes are easier to fix than learn all the other gifts he has. I'm sure his big brother will be in his ear with a few bits of advise here and there, so I think he'll be a big player for us next season. Big game tomorrow, I wouldn't mind seeing him start ahead of Morton, though positionally they don't fill the midfield role the same way. Wharton needs more protection I think but he's our most creative player that's available so should start if we're aiming for three points.
-
In a midfield three he does well, and I definitely didn't want him to get dropped after his fine display at Huddersfield. He's our best forward passer, at least the best passer into the space behind the opposition's defense (Buckley second). Don't forget he's been out injured as well, and could have taken him a little while mentally to get stuck back in at training. JDT demands a lot of effort each session.
-
He's got a lot of work to do physically and tactically, but hopefully he'll guide us to the PL next season.
-
JDT is trying to wake A. Wharton up. If he manages to get the workrate and professionalism out of him that's required, then we have some player.
-
No, not on the wing.

What a daft comment.
