  1. Celtic failed to qualify to the UCL this season too was my point. Getting through the qualifiers is no easy task for the teams who aren't directly qualified for the group stage. I do wonder if there's still some stigma attached to being a Norwegian manager in GB; that it takes more go gain the respect of the fans. Having said that Deila wouldn't be my first choice but as we're seemingly unwilling to fork out the necessary cash and ambition for top drawer managers, he's a decent option for the Head Coach position.
  2. And how did they do against Midtjylland? The expectations of some of the Celtic/Rangers fans have been on par with those of England fans for the past few decades.
  3. Sharpe is hand fed info from the club and doesn't want to jeopardise his relationship with the people in charge. He denies stories he knows are wrong, and confirms rumours/stories when given the green light by Rovers - or so it seems at least.
  4. Could we be hijacking Standard Liege's deal for Harkin (DoF) and Deila (HC)? Can't for the life of me understand why, if DoF is already lined up, we haven't made any announcement yet. Really not expecting a 'big name' for the DoF role - a bit of an insult not to announce him/her first.
  5. Deila would be a good signing. Brings with him a lot of enthusiasm and experience from overachieving (Strømsgodset) and underachieving (Vålerenga), as well as from different countries; Norway, Scotland and USA. Also used to working under a DoF so no issues there. There were some rumours flying around during his time at Vålerenga, but not going to speculate/elaborate further on that as I don't know if it has any real foundation. If he can choose between Standard Liege and Rovers, he'll probably seek advise from Berg and choose the former.
  6. Think he’ll be well liked by the players. He’s passionate and has had his ups and downs but overall a good track record I would say. Don’t know where the MGP speculation comes from, he’s never coached before I believe, and is still playing. Bjørnebye would be the more obvious one if the clues are that he’s Norwegian and with a background from the club. Does anyone have any link or can share with me where they have that info from?
  7. Cheap, being sold a story. Hoping too they have learned form past mistakes. Going from Carvalhal/Farke to Ferguson just doesn't make sense.
  8. There's levels. An upgrade from Tony shouldn't be too much to ask for.
  9. He has probably been told by Rovers to wait for a decision, and either tried to force their hand or didn't want to risk being left with the old maid. The same job will be here waiting for him in twelve months if we get this wrong (again).
  10. Yes, for one the Russian league is more competitive. And to Farke's defense he walked away from Krasnodar six days after Russia invaded Ukraine, so not as if he's in the wrong morally here. Carvalhal with a one-year deal will still attract a lot of interest after collecting his fat paycheck. Can't blame him really. The game (and sports at the highets level in general) has gone anyway, that's why I quite like life in the Championship that's still 'purer' than the EPL, UCL etc.
  11. He's had digs at Nyambe as well, but I can understand where Tony was coming from even though I always felt both of them were grossly mismanaged. They have the potential to lit this league on fire if they improve their end product, and for Rothwell put in consistent performances in his favourite position. When you see them in training on a daily basis and they can't reproduce the goods on the competitive pitch then it has to be a bit frustrating to watch. I think his relationship with Darragh is/was excellent and Nyambe by reports is a quiet lad who gets his head down and works hard, so it's more the agent(s) at work here that's been the issue. Hopefully an inspired Farke can convince them both to stay on.
  12. Yeah, but if rumours are to be believed then Lenihan is waiting to see who is appointed and hopefully Nyambe can be swayed too. No need for a DoF here as the work is already in progress. Breo is a much bigger decision but I’m guessing the coach will want to have his say…
  13. Whoever gets the gig will certainly have their hands full and first thing on the agenda must be to sort out the futures of Brereton, Lenihan and Nyambe. I think they would all relish playing under Farke. If those three are staying we have a solid foundation for the coming season, if not then I agree with Glen that it will take a season of building before mounting a serious promotion challenge. Knowing how long deals take to sanction, and the wages we offer, it’s not exactly a quick build. Glen, who decided the DoF/manager model? Are Venky’s and Waggott both on the same page in that department?
  14. They will have to ask permission first, so he has to deny it until that stage (eventually) comes, right? And when we ask to speak to him, you'll know it's a done deal.
  15. Lampard has two assistant managers I believe, correct me if I’m wrong. One of them he brought in himself… From Dunc’s point of view Lampard has done quite poorly and could be gone again before Christmas. Then it’s either a step back or the same role again at Everton, or try and gain some experience to return to Goodison as manager one day. Who is ‘Myers’? The journo?
  16. Dunc would probably fit in well with the model chosen if we get an experienced DoF/manager who can help mentor him. He's done the dirty work at Everton, started at the bottom in the Academy (many don't get that chance handed to them though), working seven days a week 7-19. Nevertheless, it would be an underwhelming signing for me, but let's give whoever they put in charge the support they need.
  17. Good throws and good with the ball at his feet. Sometimes over-eager to get the counter attack going but definitely has, and had, distribution. Found Armstrong on numerous occasions when they were both here.
