  1. How so? It's just written stern and factual. I fully agree with @Mattyblue and @J*B that the issue is worse that it should be because of unimaginative ticket pricing.
  2. Not really. It's fair do's. Not sure that handing out season-long bans to people that are actually bothered enough to go down (albeit cheaply) is a great move. Now that it's being made widely known that checks are taking place and people are being caught, I'd maybe have an October amnesty and announce bans will come into force for anyone caught from November.
  3. As much as a wanted it ruled out, at the time of the header he clearly is out of the line of vision of the keeper. Silva’s been cute. He’s annoyed the keeper enough (without it being a foul) so that the keeper is not set when Stones heads it, but when Stones does head it Silva has cleared off out of the keepers way.
  4. I missed yesterday’s game and I literally couldn’t give my season ticket away. Nobody was interested.
  5. Once you've played with BBD and Rothwell and seem them get big moves at the end of their contract I suppose you will think something like that should be available to you. He's obviously not had a stellar season like BBD had, but Rothwell was also hit and miss and ended up in the Premier League. I don't think that will happen here, but I feel like a Boro or Sunderland will look at his minutes played, distance covered, retained dribbles and some other random modern stats and move in on a limited fee. Any indication what tribunal fee we would expect?
  6. In his interview after the Ireland game I got the feeling Carsley wasn't all that struck with the media attention. I think he may take the Finland game and then return to the under-21's. I chose watching the darts over watching that on the TV, but I had it on the iPad and it looked awful. Greece clearly deserved that. Hopefully its like Keegan losing to Germany, then we get a proper manager in and go smash Greece in Athens 5-1
  7. Of course he can be criticised for the defeats. Certainly starting with that XI at Plymouth was completely on him. If he feels that defending stoutly most of the game and then nicking wins at Leicester and Leeds is the way to approach all away games then it might be dull as dishwater but he's entitled to try it. If it works no-one would care. But now it has failed badly twice he needs to change that approach.
  8. I agree it's better than my expectations. If we are talking points on the board after 9 games then I'd say it's been a good start. However I do agree with those that say the performances haven't been quite as good as it appears from the points garnered. I'd have Eustace currently on a 6/10 rating. I can understand people being a bit happier with him than that, and also those a bit less happy. It's the "time to sack him / offer him a 4 year deal" opinions that I don't get. It's still early days.
  9. I agree with @booth here. Eustace for me has done an OK job. Last year there were terrifically-orchestrated defensive wins at Leeds and Leicester sitting alongside dull ,sterile home performances where we showed little ambition to win. Thus OK. This season we started really well, settled new signings in, showed great team spirit and grit and scored a lot of goals. However the last 3 away performances have been poor. Therefore overall we've been OK. I'm seeing that the balance of the attacking side isn't right, especially trying to work out how we use Cantwell and ACD, plus Big Mac and Yuki. It's something Eustace clearly needs to change and you can't expect it to all work from day one. Think back to the League One season and, despite the fact I thought we were clearly the best team in the league (sorry Wigan), it still took a few months to find the best balance to get the most out of that squad. Hopefully that's where we are at the moment, albeit I don't expect promotion. Just to be competitive in most games ! Therefore JE is neither shite, nor is he working wonders. It's still early days and so far he's been, err, OK.
  10. Last season he tended to play either wide or right up top. When he’s wide he can do 4 step overs and knock it backwards easily and it’s doesn’t look as bad. Now he’s been pushed into the Szmodics role he’s more central, which makes it doubly frustrating when we are breaking forward and he slows everything down by over playing and not getting his head up. Id be putting Cantwell in there with his undoubtably better vision and better distribution. Dolan should be pushed back out wide in place of either Hedges or Weimann, and have to fight with ACD for that spot. He’s always carried a goal threat drifting into the box from there.
  11. England Major tournament squads Number 6 a who’s who of English centre halves. Not a midfielder in sight.
  12. This again. Historically in the uk 5and 6 have always been centre halves. Even now, in the Premier League looking at squad numbers, there are 10 centre backs at number 6 with another 3 sides not utilising that number. Gabriel, Levi Colwill, Marc Guehi, James Tarkowski, Luke Woolfenden, Ake, Martinez, Lascalles, Harwood-Bellis, Dragusin, Bobby Moore wore 6 in the World Cup final. Wikipedia states 6 as a centre back. However on the continent 6 was more often a defensive midfielder and thus is now creeping into the UK. But thankfully most Premier League sides still follow the traditional UK method of 6 being a defender.
  13. Hmm. We got better in the second half with each sub, and then from 75 mins onwards looked the more likely to score. But they still had far more chances than we had in that half. Stats don’t always tell the full picture, but in that second half Plymouth still had double the number of shots off target and on target that we had. If we’d got a point it would have been a steal, something which even the commentators on Rovers TV were saying.
  14. Problem is Chaddy you are on the opposite extreme from those saying we should soon be looking for a new manager. No we shouldn’t be looking for a new manager yet. JE needs time. Most managers don’t have a large turnover of players and know their best formation and 11 straight away, and that’s what JE is figuring out. Likewise talk of a new contract after 5 games was just laughable.
  15. It’s hard to judge. After a promising August he then looked awful at Coventry and Plymouth. But so did every player who started those games and those who came on at Coventry (which the exception of ACD). It’s a bit unfair to dig him out from two games where the majority who played were awful. I saw enough in those first few games to hope he should be more useful than Gally was for the last couple of years
  16. I get that, but you said “some of the stick Eustace is getting is way over the top”. I can see a lot of surely valid criticism of him trusting the same players who threw a stinker of a performance in at Coventry. But getting “stick” which is “way over the top” hasn’t happened on here since full time, unless you’ve got some examples I’m missing.
  17. Examples? Since FT I can see one post that’s harsh on him. Plenty of fair criticism over these two performances in isolation.
  18. Frustrating that he looks better as an impact sub than a starter.
  19. I have no idea if Baker is better, but after Coventry I’d have given him a chance.
  20. Having said that we got what we deserved. After Coventry how Dolan started infront of Cantwell and ACD didn’t start god only knows. The Carter RB experiment is now surely consigned to the bin.
  21. That reminded me of games under Mowbray when we were unable to deal with generic high balls in the box at the end of games with the likes of Lenihan at the back. The collapse at Leeds in injury time being the ultimate example. Pickering needs to be tighter to the crosser and then someone should be at least close to winning that ball in in the 97th minute.
  22. Err, I know. That’s why I said WTF are we playing a centre back at RB.
  23. Why the fuck are we playing a centre half at right back again. Carter backs off 15 yards then gets nowhere near cutting out the cross.
