  1. It's stories like this, and the Ballack "salary" that makes me want to give up following football at a professional level. Nail the barstewards, put 'em in goal, show them who is in charge, give the fans some honesty and value for money.
  2. Anyone with any sense wouldn't buy into an airline. Too many things affecting profitablity; fuel, fickleness of travellers, maintenance, replacement aircraft. Wouldn't surprise me if it was undersold. Who is looking after the float, philipl? They are the ones with the worry.
  3. dillo, when you find the time, do make a visit to Sydney. You can put The Lord Nelson on your website.
  4. Eddies right, europeans are inveterate smokers, as are the chinese. To put it bluntly, it stinks, it dulls the taste buds, on your clothes it smells until washed, and it's harmful. If you want to do it, do it where it won't affect anyone else. Like I said, I've got no problem with anyone smoking, as long as they can contain it's effects within their own personal space.
  5. Blackburn Rovers only play at one venue. American, I have no problem with people smoking. It's their inability to contain it's effects to their own personal space that pisses me off.
  6. Spot on there Paul. Down here, Woolies et al have been advertising prints for as little as 15c a copy.
  7. RAF, the machines are usually made to take paper between 80gsm and 120 gsm. If it carries too much moisture it can cause pick up problems. Next time it happens, take the paper out and put 50 or so sheets in the microwave for 4 or 5 secs on high. That sometimes does the trick. IHD, if you buy a printer today, it will be superceded tomorrow. It depends what you use it for. If it's for home use, the cheapest is usually the best option, unless you're really into printing things. I drop my photos onto cd rather than print them.
  8. bb3, I take your point about it hardly being the crime of the century, but if someone was dipping into your weekly income, you'd complain, long and hard, and rightly so.
  9. Den, no worries, though Mr ???? seems to get a bit stirred up when Australia is involved edit: I haven't!
  10. I'd suggest that you do a few googles, that may change your mind about being international. Having said that, the workforce is entirely based in the UK. If what you said in your "quoted" statement is true, it says more about the British companies than it does about Multiplex. What they had proven was that they could build an International arena, something that few companies in the world had done.
  11. philipl, I'll ask for a reasoned reply, not from a numpty, part time, nighttime employee of a Murdoch publication.
  12. RAF, more likely to be the paper you are using. Try a paper that cost a bit more and is made in the location you are using it.
  13. philipl, Multiplex built the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, under budget, and within time; had no problems with labour or structural issues. So, the problem must be with the local workforce. Care to comment? btw, does the highlighted sentence make sense?
  14. Jan, as a footballer, still playing, I know many on the same team say, "here dave, this is where I wanted it." It just doesn't happen every time. You just don't get the "perfect ball" everytime. If that happened we'd never have been relegated, always be No 1. It does not happen to human beings. Football, whilst being a simple game, is full of complexities such as speed, angles and unknowns (referees, turf and opposition players). FLB, football is a bit like the Curate's Egg, "good in parts' You get some "goodens" and you get some "badens". Must admit, I'd never considered Jansen's and Cole's exit in those terms, but it's a fact.
  15. FLB, this is the statement by Gazsimm: To which I replied: I don't believe I criticised any "real fans", because they would have gone anyway, as for those frightened away by the "Businessmen", do you consider those to be fans? The only thing I questioned was his statement. It was patently wrong, even from this side of the earth. It has nothing to do with where you live, how many time a year you go to see the Rovers, though I do note that one or two of my critics have, in the past admitted to not going to every home game. I presume they use the same excuse as me. From some of the comments, some posters would like to see the Rovers support shrink to within the shores of the British Isles, because you can't be a "real fan", a "real supporter" if you don't see every home game. I wonder if those that go to all(home and away) games feel more superior to those that just see home matches. I would love Rev to find those posts belong to those overseas posters that critisise attendences and the Blackburn public, if only to back up his statement. I don't know whether he's right or wrong. Two final points: 1. We know Mr mk2 dosen't attend all games, should he be allowed to comment? 2. Yorick, it is indeed, a lot more.
  16. Rev, so the fact that we are miles away, precludes us from having an opinion? My reply was to someone blaming businessmen for putting people off attending games. Given that there are approximately 10K empty seats, that statement was patently wrong. Over the years, including my time downunder, the Rovers have made profit from me. So I do do a little bit for keeping S.S Rovers afloat.
  17. Given that the Rovers have close on 10000 empty seats, how do you justify your comment? To my mind, the only thing that's keeping the "real football fan" away is their own apathy.
  18. Such positive words, Philip, words that I entirely agree with. Just wait for the flack!
  19. Montfort, if you're a reader of these pages, you'll realise that posters have favourites, and those they love to hate. The favourites get the good mentions, because the posters favour the good bit they do, and ignore the crap bits they do. It's the other way around with those they love to hate. Some of the posters actually know a bit about football, others actually play the game, the rest think they know something. None of them work in the game (with a couple of exceptions) To summarise, Montfort, read 100%, ignore 90% and take 50% of what's left, and you might be close to getting something positive out of what's posted.
  20. Negative, negative, negative. Has it happened? Worry about it when it does. You'll go grey thinking about it.
  21. Been there, done that. Do you want to add the beauty of the Ribble valley, the History of Ribchester, or of Blackburn itself, or to display the squalor of your own existence? I added the last bit to extract a reply. Why? Because if you can't see the better part of where you live, you'll never see the best of anything.
  22. Anyone who does anything to promote Blackburn Rovers is a fan by me. DP, go ahead, do what you want, let the football supporting public of Texas know about the Rovers. You never know, there maybe that billionaire waiting to invest in Ewood round the next oilwell. He/she may be inspired by your devotion. Onepost, you weren't on the turps yeasterday by any chance?
