[Archived] Premiership Final Table Prediction
American replied to brfcshabba's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Well, I was way off last year, can't do any worse, but I won't be stupid enough to predict Liverpool to win the title and United to finish out of the top 4 like I did last year: 1 Chelsea 2 Man United 3 Arsenal 4 Spurs 5 Liverpool 6 Newcaslte United 7 Manchester City 8 Middlesbrough 9 Blackburn 10 Aston Villa 11 Charlton 12 Birmingham 13 Fulham 14 West Ham United 15 West Brom 16 Everton 17 Bolton 18 Sunderland 19 Portsmouth 20 Wigan If City keeps SWP, they will finish near or in the relegation zone (I like him, think he's a great player, but I see a surge if he leaves, much like with Everton after Rooney left). Actually found my bottom 3 changed several times, and will probably change further. At times I've had West Brom and Bolton in it, and Wigan out of it. I really can see it being one of the tougher relegation battles, because I can see reasons for every club to stay up this season. Wigan has money to spend - but it probably won't be enough. Portsmouth has been a team who knows how to get it done the past couple seasons - but they seemed in disarray at the end of last season. Sunderland has a big fan base, good coach and Steadinho, but I see them just missing out in the final game of the season, but with a points haul in the mid to upper 30s. -
I know it's a different country, different conflict, but all of this reminds me of a joke about Ireland: Catholics fighting Protestants - it just goes to show you that in a country with no Jews, Blacks or Puerto Ricans, people can learn to improvise.

My new coach had a good start. PICed it and still won 0-7 on the road. Play the same team at home next week, so I can PIC it again. Although I'm not going up, I'll still have good fan support and player confidence. -
Maybe he means it was the wrong choice because Souness then left? I didn't hear him complaining in August... Then again, everyone wants a chance to take a pop at Souey, why not one more stretch of an excuse.

Sold 2 outstanding playmakers, so have almost $3 million US in the bank. Going to buy a new coach, solid leadership/solid coaching skill for $2.5. I guess the week has to roll over first, because I was told I don't have the money, even though the players have already been sold and money received. Have 6 young PMs, none older than 20, 4 solid, 2 almost solid. Will be training for the next season or 2. A couple of the trainees have other skills, one with solid scoring and passable defending at age 18. When he's up to excellent, he should bring me in some good money. Might even build my midfield around him and sell some of the others. -

I think the Villareal board was brilliant in letting them sign Forlan! -

Another reason I was praising smithy's post was because he did mention the positives that have occurred. He could have easily just mentioned the negatives, but gave credit where it was due. -

How is the man in charge of one of the (if not the) lowest turnovers in the Prem underpaid? Is he the lowest paid of all (I actually don't know that)? If not, he should be. That's like saying the CEO of my software company is underpaid in comparison to most (or is it meast ) Software company CEOs. Forget the fact that our revenues are lower in comparison, he should still be paid as much as Ballmer and Gates!! -

Actually, I thought that was a pretty balanced (for AESF) and accurate critique of the current leadership. -

Good point in the letters section of F365: They were chanting Glazers out, but then wouldn't let them leave. -
Didn't you also say you'd never post again at one point? You had my hopes up so high.

So the fact that Taylor owned Fenway Realty Company was mere co-incidence? Tradition wasn't always names on the shirts. Tradition was no substitutes, with heavy wool uniforms. Tradition was brown socks. Tradition was no corporate advertising on the sides of the pitch. Tradition was terraces. I could go on and on. -

Yeah, next thing you know Premier League teams will be selling sponsorship on the front of their jerseys.... Imagine that, Rovers desecrating the famous halves.... The US needs to go back to the days of non-corporate naming, such as Fenway Park - oh, wait, that was named in a sponsorship deal with the Fenway Realty Company. -

So, I am pretty much not going up this season, but do have a bunch of cash in the bank. Will probably be over 2 million after 2 players move up in the next week or so. Should I spend all the money on a coach, or should I buy some excellent 17yos instead? How much does a good coach effect your training? -
Gotta save this one before he sobers up.

When he's not suspended, right Bellamy?

If we could get 24 points from 6 games I'd be most impressed. That would have to be some sort of a record. -

Yes, this would be the first time they did that, Chelsea didn't do the same thing while United was a PLC with Robben. His father never said words to the effect of, he'll go to Chelsea over my dead body. Glazer has made them quite the unwanted destination. Never happened before, just look at Shearer, Gazza, Collymore, Kewell... -

Lost to one of my 2 big rivals, 0-1, but got 38 away from a sell-out and was without my 2 best strikers, who have been injured for several weeks. Didn't expect to go up this season as I sold most of my older players, anyhow. Next season I will have a load of cash and rebuild. -

I found Mokoena to be good. He's been one of my starting defensive pairing for a couple seasons now. Nelsen ended up being listed. Savage did a good job as the DM in the diamond. Jansen isn't bad, but can be hard to re-sign. -

Sounds like the men's team... -
7 or 5 will do it, but 6 won't?? Might want to re-do the math there!

I know when I got a new radio with a rechargeable battery, they said the best way to make sure the indicator works is, the first time you use it, charge it all the way up, let it play all the way out, then charge it all the way up again. They said that sets the indicator.
