Also, add in that Sherwood could actually be substituted for, and wasn't wearing 50 pound uniforms when it got wet....

How do you know the best natural soccer players of today aren't Americans who are playing "Gridiron" and basketball instead?
-
Hmmmmm, why hasn't LeChuck posted on this thread?

I didn't know you could post something less than a page!!

Since when has someone racially mocking someone else become an example of PC gone amok? Two COMPLETELY different issues. Going by what most people on here are saying, the English people's reactions to the events in Spain are just overreaction. Stop being so politically correct (OR STOP BEING SO FRICKING HYPOCRITICAL!!!!!!!!). Oh, and as for the defense "I have Black friends." Guess what? I have racist friends, that doesn't mean that I like that part of them, just that I like them despite that.

Was listening to Live Aid the last few days. Some was good or better than I remember, some was crap. Queen was great, the Stones were good. The biggest suprise was that Howard Jones was really good. Who knew he could do more than just write a song about impotence?

[Archived] Three Cheers For Andrew Cole

Actually I disagree. I think that by giving Cole a big round of applause it emphasises the point that the vast majority of the crowd were booing Yorke for non-racial reasons. That will be the perception whether we like it or not. I will aplaud Cole for what he did and no other reason. However anyone who cannot see how much under the spotlight we will be on Saturday is just kidding themselves. But doesn't cheering Dunn do the same thing? If anything, booing Dunn or Duff next time would prove the point just as well. Fair play to you cheering him for what he did on the pitch, but Jim wants him to be cheered for what 2 drunks did off the pitch. -

Just watched the second half of last seasons match. Ah, the memories. Funny that they were discussing rumors and possibilities of Cole ending up at Fulham. As for VanDerSar, he gifted us 2 of the goals last season, so I'm upset he's out. -

Jim, Singling out a Black man because he's Black would do the opposite, no matter the intentions. -
Of course not, he'd be like 140 years old. He would be able to hack it, as he would have the same modern training techniques and advantages the players of today would have. 5 FRICKIN' FA CUP MEDALS

Actually, I'm with Bucky. I call my friends Mother$#&^$# and the B word that rhymes with witch, but if someone else called them that they'd get a good beating. Same thing with Nigga. As for the other, there is now, and will always be, racism. It's a natural reaction to single out people/species who are different from you. Heck, I get more stick from Black people when I go somewhere with my Black female friend, than I do from White people. There are really 3 reasons this whole thing was blown out of proportion. 1. it was caught on tv. 2. apparently this is a slow news week in England and 3. it comes right on the heels of Madrid and all of the sanctamonious spouting of the English how they would never do anything like that.

I voted Forrest because he would have preferred Nike. Oh, and what about being the rock for arguably the greatest English dynasty of all times? Does that not matter?
-
Actually, he's not allowed to warm up where he pleases. He has to warm up where told. And that's where he was told to warm up.

Speaking of going overboard. So it's an overreaction because he's annoyed. Funny that never happened when he went back to Villa. We were going off the word of a man who was truly offended by what he saw and heard. And guess what: We were proven right. An idiot did what he did. No excuses, nothing. Why would Dwight lie about something like that? He hates Rovers so much that he would make that up? A bit egotistic of Rovers fans, methinks. He's taken much more stick from the Villa crowds than he will ever take at Ewood, and never "made up" stories of racist taunts. Why would he start now? And we know he didn't. I'll watch the coverage, and I'll tell you this. If anything like that were to occur, the people probably wouldn't be stupid enough to do it right to the players face. It almost sounds like you're defending the kid, making it sound like people are overreacting to a monkey taunt, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. If you read the statements, Yorke is singling out this person. It's the press who is making it sound like more than an isolated incident.

Hughesy, Look at the site in my first post. Take time and read it through and you will see what it is about. Not a contest.

I didn't get a slap. I got contemplation and eventually a yes!!

If it was a chicken, how do you know he wasn't making a reference to Blacks eating fried chicken? You know just as much as the rest of us on this, Capt., Jack ****. All we know is what Yorke said he heard and saw. And he was the main witness to this. I'm sure he hates the fans so much that he would just make this up to give Blackburn a bad name. It's not like he hasn't learned to take abuse from former club's fans.

As an American following Convey by reading a Reading messageboard, he is having the same problem. The fact is, from an outsiders perspective, no one wants him to fail and most think he will come good in a season or so, they just don't feel he is ready right now. And you know what? They are probably right. I feel your frustration, knowing that when given a chance a player will prove himself. Instead of you, though, I'm not whining like a little (rhymes with witch), but waiting patiently, because I know he eventually will be given that chance, just like MGP will.

But wouldn't a good round of applause be singleing (however the heck you spell that) him out for being Black? How is that any better than what was done on Sunday? Utter rubbish. -
They have to win first, though.

What great memories of last season. Had I gotten my wife pregnant that week we were going to name our son Jonathan! I remember discussing with Tris at the half going to see the Burnley derby this season. After that preview, I think I have to pop the video of that match in the VCR this week. 1-3 us. Dickov, Emerton(2) and McBride with a late consolation. -
And Grabbi better than Forrest. I'm still upset I didn't get to vote Grabbi for midfield. I saw him play but not Forrest. (And yes, he did play midfield a couple times.)

With you on that Mum. I think he took the criticisms of last season a bit too much to heart. There were times where Jay was making a run that Emo just kept taking the defenders on himself and not passing when the pass was the better option. -
Just hope that journos don't read certain threads on this site after the release that was made. Will do nothing to dispel the opinion...
