It is kind of entertaining to use this thread to keep up with the match instead of watching it. Every refresh brings 20 freakouts with it. -

The officials aren't costing us this one, but we do get big-teamed a lot by the refs(even in this division) in general. -

Joe has the skill set & physical abilities, but NOT the on-pitch judgement, which is why Manchester United was initially excited about him & then got rid. -

Rovers kits 24/25 season

I agree with Bruce that from a pure manufacturing & quality standpoint the Kappa Time/AMD kits of 2000-03 were the best of the last 30 years, though I remember some complained about Kappa's tight fits. The process he refers to is called sublimation printing & is far superior in terms of quality for this kind of purpose, but also more costly. Not all the kits from this period used it (the keeper kits had "Time" glued on as did the 02-03 AMD home (or as I prefer: "traditional")), but those that did were the best we ever looked on the pitch. The home 00-02 & away 00-01/change 01-02 red & black stripe are personal faves & when cared for properly look as good as new 20+ years later. -

Still no Toth or ACD & I hate these "commie kits". At least the Deepdale dorks did to the 6fings what they did to us. -
Sorry Wilsden, well done: but you & I are quoting from 2 different bibles (you the EFL Handbook & me the FAPL one (see below)). It's my understanding that promotion up to the PL would need to meet the requirements below. In other words, no one would get an automatic promotion spot (to the PL anyway) based on penalty points. but I do agree that the EFL Handbook states what you say it does. Since the scenario below has never happened going back to 1888, we're probably spending more time than necessary here, but for what it's worth: From this year's PL handbook: C.4. The position of Clubs in the League Table shall be determined by the number of points scored in the Competition during that Season; the Club having scored the highest number of points being at the top of the League Table and the Club having scored the lowest number of points being at the bottom. C.5. If any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points their position in the League Table shall be determined on goal difference, that is to say, the difference between the total number of goals scored by and against a Club in League Matches in the Competition during that Season (“Goal Difference”), and the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club with the higher or highest Goal Difference. C.6. If any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points and have the same Goal Difference the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club having scored the most goals in League Matches in the Competition during that Season. C.7. Subject to Rule C.17, if any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points, have the same Goal Difference and have scored the same number of goals in League Matches in the Competition during that Season, they shall be deemed to occupy the same position in the League Table. C.17. If following the completion of the Competition either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because two or more Clubs are equal on points, Goal Difference and goals scored, the relative position in the League Table of the Clubs will be determined by the following means: C.17.1. the total points scored by the relevant Clubs in the League Matches in that Season’s Competition contested by those Clubs (“Head-to-Head Matches”), with the Club having scored the highest number of points in Head-to-Head Matches occupying the highest position in the League Table and the Club having scored the lowest number of points in Head-to- Head Matches occupying the lowest position in the League Table; C.17.2. if the Clubs cannot be separated by operation of Rule C.17.1, the Club scoring the higher number of goals whilst the Visiting Club in Head-to- Head Matches occupying the higher position in the League Table; and C.17.3. if two Clubs cannot be separated by operation of Rule C.17.1 or C.17.2, a play-off on a neutral ground, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board. In my book we're level....& if anybody ever gets promoted or relegated (between any of the divisions) based on anything after 9.3.2 in your post above it will be a scandal. The Premier League & the Football League should really be on the same page in this case & The FA should require it. But that's going down a whole other rabbit hole........
-
Actually Wilsden I believe it goes like this: Each position in the League table is decided by the following tiebreakers if teams finish on the same number of points: Goal difference Goals scored Team who collected most points in head-to-head record Who scored the most away goals in head-to-head If teams cannot be separated by the above criteria and they are fighting for the title, European spots, promotion or relegation, a one-off play-off game at a neutral ground will be scheduled to decide who finishes higher. Since we haven't played them yet, we're essentially level with them.
-
Yeah, I think the only non-repeat player on the first list worthy of the second is Hill. Wayne is right Tom; we're level with Sunderland on points, GD & goals scored. If the season ended today we'd be in a pre-playoffs, neutral site, automatic promotion one-off gang. Just 39 matches to go......... Now let's get a road win & start October on top!
-
Now let's see if we can get 3 points away from home. Coventry City are off to a rough start.

Yeah Matty, 92-2010 is locked in there; after that it's all a blur .

Just to follow up on Mark & Andy's straitening out which Fulham away game thing: Yeah, both were at Loftus Road during the confusion period over the future of the Cottage(We're gonna renovate; no wait......Yeah, we're gonna renovate). Thankfully, they kept the place; it's my favorite away ground. Sukur's brace came in the 03 one & 2 months later he was out of here. I think he broke his leg in training if I remember correctly. The 2nd one was the EPIC match of our survival struggle in 04. I watched it at home with the satellite feed & was the source of updates on instant message (remember that?) for 2 others who couldn't get away from work(it was late afternoon here in the eastern US). Andy Cole got us 1 on a great pass from Tugs only for Fulham to level then get ahead before halftime. Right after the restart Jonathan Douglas volleyed one home off a headed throw-in, then Amo's free kick followed by another Fulham leveler, then a Cole flick-on for Stead to finally finish things off. I still have the tape of that game somewhere.

The ref set the tone with his crap early on (I would like to have seen a replay of the possible penalty) in a match that was already going to be full of mucking around & nonsense. Of course things got out of hand, so we'll just take the point & move on. Dolan was a little unlucky.
