  1. In theory - the tail is fairly strong. In theory.
  2. This was on the BBC the other day. Conceding loads more extras, dropping catches and having a non-keeper is hurting. Man for man - there's not many other than Root that you'd probably have in the Australian team. But we're giving them a game, just throwing it away every time. The numerical facts are that England have scored 1260 runs off the bat to Australia's 1245. After Stokes' eight-wickets-down declaration and Australia's two-wicket win at Edgbaston, followed by a 40-wicket second Test (only the fourth Lord's Ashes Test out of 37 in which all possible wickets have fallen), both sides have lost 38 wickets. Thus, England's batting line-up has a collective average of 33.1, Australia's 32.7. England have, however, conceded 60 more extras than Australia (118 to 58), leaving them 45 runs behind in total, accounting for the 43-run margin at Lord's and the two runs by which the Baggy Greensters overtook England at Edgbaston. England are the 274th team in men's Test history to find themselves 2-0 down after two Tests of a series. As you would probably expect, none of the previous 273 had a higher collective batting average after those two Tests than the opposition against whom they have lost consecutive matches (and only a handful have come close).
  3. You wonder what Stokes we need to see here. There's only one player made any decent runs so far - and he went on the attack. Does Stokes play sensible and try and slowly build a score - or does he go for it like Lords?
  4. Root drops one...then catches one the next ball.
  5. I thought the link with Will Collar was going to be the most underwhelming collar of the summer. I was wrong. Looks good other than the collar.
  6. I'd forgotten about the Wigan game. He also scored the winning goal in the game after Cardiff (his last game for the club) in extra time. Presumably he hadn't noticed they'd switched ends at full time.
  7. Are you talking about Adam Armstrong here?
  8. Was this not all around the same time he rejected a new contract and put in a transfer request?
  9. You must get minimal benefit from seeing the line ups in advance though? You get your money back if the first goal is scored before your player is on the pitch if he's a substitute.
  10. Fair enough. The charges relate to 2017 - so either the 2nd half our our league one season, or the first half of a Championship season. I could understand an advantage on a market where you'd expect a lot of bets to take place (For example if Liverpool were playing Arsenal in the cup and you had information that Liverpool were fielding a team of teenagers before it was common knowledge), but I'm not sure how much money is being won/lost based on leaked Rovers' team news. It might be a much bigger market than I realise.
  11. Who would pay for our line-up 10 minutes before it was released? Just interested into what benefit someone gain from the information.
  12. West Brom at home to start.
  13. Well I obviously want England to win. I've also put a tenner on the draw at 8/1 in case the rain comes back. So the only outcome can be an Australia win.
  14. Bohinen was one of my favourites. Unplayable on his day.
  15. The fact Aguero tended to bob around the 28-33 goal mark for 6 seasons would suggest not.
  16. Rovers' salary bill represented 146% of our turnover in 21/22. No other businesses would ever operate like that.
  17. Not sure if it's a mistake? They're all Raith Rovers directors?
  18. Xavier isn't incorrect.
  19. Presumably he's still being paid off by the last two clubs that have sacked him in the last 12 months as well. Must be amazing being a football manager - especially an unsuccessful one. You get a massive payout and then people keep hiring you.
  20. Wish I'd have known earlier, I'd have prepared some 😂
  21. Ronnie has to be in for me. 665 appearances over 19 years according to Wiki. I remember him working at the club doing the ground tours and he was an absolute gentleman. My mum sent him a thank you letter after we did the tour there and he sent us a Christmas card back.
  22. Wharton-Rice-Bellingham I'm only half joking as well 😂
  23. Just doing some calculations based on total revenue if the season ticket prices were a lot lower and we offered free tickets to U12s and the incentive of free season tickets next season if promoted. I'm assuming we're going to sell around 9,000 tickets this year. The split between adult, senior, young adult, under 18s and under 12s are purely guesses - anyone have any idea what the split is likely to be? The uplift figures based on the discounts are purely guesswork as well - so any feedback on the likely uplifts is also appreciated. Prices are done as an average based on the fact there are different price levels for adult, senior and young adult tickets. If we sell 9,000 tickets and 10% of them are Under 12 - it's only generating £54,000 in sales. Why not give the Under 12 tickets away - increasing the number of younger supporters getting to the games and also making it more accessible for families (meaning more adult tickets sold). For instance - if I wanted to get season tickets for all my family in the Blackburn End it would cost £1,098. Under the alternative pricing above, it would be £658. Much more affordable in the current climate. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect season ticket sales to increase from circa 9k to 13.5k (look at Bolton and PNE) by dropping adult, senior and young adult prices by £100, knocking almost 60% off the under 18 prices and letting under 12s in for free. Total revenue is actually slightly up. Appreciate you're getting less walk ons during the season and policing costs will be higher - but you're also making more money in food and drink sales on matchday.
  24. I read some comments on their forum and retention of the ball in difficult areas was something they rated him very highly at.
  25. Looking at the accounts from 21/22 - our total matchday income was only £3.353m for the season. That covered 13.77% of the wage bill. Our matchday income represented just over 20% of our total turnover of £16.65m. Compare that to someone like Brentford who you would think we would generate a similar level of matchday income should we get promoted.... Brentford's matchday income represented 7.39% of their total turnover. Rovers total turnover for the season was 11.8% of that of Brentford - it's the TV money where it's at. Rovers could certainly afford to offer free season tickets in the Premier League should we get promoted. Gav's suggestion isn't as ridiculous as it sounds - we'd probably only need to find just under £3m to bridge the gap when you consider the matchday income will also include corporate income and food/drink sales. If Ayala and Dack were on £17k a week each - that's more than half of our total matchday income for the entire season spent on two players. Players that managed a grand total of 31 appearances between them in the 21/22 season. Our salaries represented 146% of turnover in 21/22 - completely unsustainable. We need to get promoted.
