  1. And 552,000 more than Rovers on Instagram 🤨
  2. And as it turned out, Kevin Davies could be alright if utilised the right way under a proper manager. Makes you think about Gallagher and Brereton.
  3. Sounds like an upgrade on the Gallagher we've seen since he re-signed.
  4. He' definitely be better off financially not signing a new contract with Rovers (unless he has a Dack style nightmare). He'll end up pocketing a chunk of whatever money the club he signs for saves in transfer fees.
  5. Interesting that it took a few years for Beattie to fulfil the promise he showed at youth level. Whilst he was playing at a higher level than Brereton (Copa America aside 😂), he only really started scoring regularly once he turned 23, so still time for Brereton to become a regular goal scorer. Beattie's record: 98/99 (Aged 20/21) – 39 appearances 6 goals 99/00 (Aged 21/22) – 21 appearances 0 goals 00/01 (Aged 22/23) – 42 appearances 12 goals 01/02 (Aged 23/24) – 31 appearances 14 goals 02/03 (Aged 24/45) – 49 appearances 24 goals 03/04 (Aged 25/26) – 45 appearances 17 goals
  6. Having seen him in a few videos with Bradley Dack, the lad struggles to speak English never mind Spanish.
  7. I hadn't realised he had signed a 7 year contract (although that is backed up by the article below). Crazy. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/6152424.rovers-blackburn-break-club-record-sign-southampton-star-davies/ One bit from this article is who Southampton were lining up to replace him: "Manager David Jones, however, is believed to have lined-up Crystal Palace's Matt Jansen as a £3.5 million replacement" It's funny how things work out.
  8. I'm not sure that's still the case, as he was clearly prepared to talk to Celtic and it sounds like it's collapsed due to not being able to put his own backroom team together rather than anything else. Personal situations change as families age. However, not a chance in hell he would come to Rovers these days. We aren't the pull that we were pre-Venkys.
  9. Taken from the BBC: Antonio Conte has left Inter Milan after winning Serie A, Zinedine Zidane resigned from Real Madrid and Tottenham have sounded out Paris St-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino. Winning the Ligue 1 title couldn't keep Christophe Galtier at Lille, Juventus are reportedly close to sacking Andrea Pirlo and bringing back Massimiliano Allegri, while Hansi Flick's departure from Bayern Munich triggered a domino effect in Germany. The dust has barely settled on the 2020-21 campaign, but already we've seen an unprecedented number of top managers on the move. Just a shame it's the top managers on the move. What about the sub par to bang average ones?
  10. And limp back out of it 5 minutes later. I'm sure I've seen a few people refer to Ledley King as the best defender out of any of them, he was just constantly injured.
  11. Absolutely agree. I always thought that G.Neville, Campbell, Ferdinand, A.Cole was as good a back four as any in the world at their peak. Not a chance you'd pick any of the current crop over the centre backs and full backs. I think Gary Neville would also have a strong case for a place.
  12. Out of the 34 games we've won over the last 2 seasons - only 7 of them would we have needed to score 3+ to win (and four of those victories were end of season games with not a lot to play for. We've actually kept 17 clean sheets in those 34 wins.
  13. Well considering Harry Chapman is every so slightly older, he's managed 20 league starts in his entire career compared to over 150 from Kirk. Chapman had only started 4 league games in his career by the time he turned 23, before he joined Shrewsbury.
  14. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57145394 Not sure if anyone saw this article on the BBC - I wasn't sure where to post it. Shearer and Richards selecting their top 10 Premier League winning sides. Fully expected Rovers to be left out altogether - but Shearer had Rovers at number 2.
  15. You'd wonder why he would agree to a new contract though. Not getting games and Mowbray doesn't seemingly think a lot of him. By all accounts, it sounds like his attitude hasn't been great since he joined permanently either. After the form he showed at Shrewsbury, you'd think there would be some other clubs willing to take a chance on him. If there is genuinely a chance he stays, I think it's because the managers future is unclear. He might be waiting to see if Tony goes before deciding anything?
  16. It's the amount of goals that team would score that frighten me. I struggle to see us scoring more than 30 goal all season (even that might be ambitions with that personel), although admittedly with a new manager it might be different.
  17. If we line up with that team next season with Mowbray in charge, we'll get relegated.
  18. Presumably because of this bit (Not my spelling error): "the talent attacker having also spent two years in Barcelona’s La Masia Academy set-up"
  19. No doubt we're waiting until all the decent options are snapped up before getting rid of Mowbray. If WBA get Wilder I'd expect that to be one of the promotion positions sorted next season.
  20. Wasn't his point about the club never being normal since Venky's arrived?
  21. Hodgson's first 28 games (all competitions): W15 D9 L4 Hodson's next 35 games (all competitions): W7 D9 L19 Went from a win percentage of 53.6% to 20%.
  22. I'm sure the fee for Dahlin was nearer £2.5m (Obviously wages on top of that).
  23. It's the amount of money Hodgson/Kidd spent in the relegation season that was frightening. Jimmy Corbett - 525k (Waste of money) Kevin Davies - 7.5m (Huge waste of money) Sebastien Perez - 3m (Talented, but homesick) Darren Peacock - Free (Not as bad as people make out, but no Hendry/Berg) Christian Daily - 5.3m (Huge waste of money) Oumar Konde - 500k (Did he ever play?) Nathan Blake - 4.25m (Did OK in division 1, but definitely a panic buy when Dion Dublin turned us down) Keith Gillespie - 2.35m (I liked him, but hit and miss) Ashley Ward - 4.5m (Hated him at the time, but we've had far worse since, but a waste of money) Matt Jansen - 4.1m (One of the few success stories and about the only good thing Kidd did) Jason McAteer - 4m (Another panic buy, did OK in patches and scored at Turf Moor - good memories) David McNamee - 300k (Did he ever play?) Burton O'Brien - 300k (Did he ever play?) Lee Carsley - 3.4m (Did OK in division 1 before deciding he was too good for us, didn't like the guy, bit of a plodder) To put those figures into some kind of perspective value wise: Freddie Ljungberg to Arsenal - 3m (Sep 98) Sami Hyypia to Liverpool - 3m (May 99) We absolutely outspent everyone in the division and got relegated.
  24. That's a ridiculous scenario. Everyone thinks we have an option for an additional year in his contract (including the player and his agent), yet we don't? For the record, if Mowbray is still here, it wouldn't even have been worth taking up a year extension on his contract anyway. He appeared to be sulking enough about lack of game time, without being forced to say and work with Mowbray.
