  1. I don't know if it's normal or not - I've not seen any other managers contractual details. Without those clauses written into his contract - he'd have legally been entitled to the same wages in league one as he was in the Premier League - unless the club did sack him and pay him 12 months wages. To me it makes perfect sense to have these clauses written into his contract - as reducing his salary after relegation also means he's cheaper to sack. Contracts are as detailed as possible to avoid any doubt.
  2. It is referred to as a 'bonus' in his contract - but it's not a bonus for getting relegated. Do you think his contract was incentivising him for getting relegated? By paying him less money? Makes sense.
  3. You're suggesting he was incentivised to get the club relegated. His overall package was less if the club were relegated - negating the fact it's a 'bonus'. There was absolutely no incentive for Kean for Rovers to get relegated - as much as I dislike both him and Venkys. He was financially worse off for the fact we got relegated - fact. He was never going to resign either - with the fact he had to pay the club 12 months of his salary to do so.
  4. If he took the club down two divisions - he would earn less than he did if he kept the club in the Premier League. That's not a bonus.
  5. We've been crying out for a Craig Short for years
  6. I've not seen other Premier League managers contracts - but I wouldn't be surprised to see similar things in them. It's pretty common for players to have clauses built into their contracts that reduce their wages if the club is relegated - and presumably their bonus offerings change as well. I can't see why it wouldn't be in place for a manager.
  7. Kean's bonuses were specifically for hitting a target. He was to receive a £200k bonus for finishing in the top 12 in the Premier League. If Rovers were relegated - his salary was significantly reduced, but then there a bonus of £500k for getting promoted to the Premier League. If Rovers were relegated to League One, his salary dropped even further and there was no bonus for promotion back to the Championship. His contract certainly didn't reward failure - it mitigated the risk of high salary and bonuses being paid if were relegated.
  8. That's not the same though is it. He would have received a higher bonus had the club been in the higher division. Not much of an incentive to get relegated - receiving a lower bonus.
  9. I read it that the bonus was reduced if we were in a lower league as well. Unusual to have contingency plans in place on bonuses if we're in league one when we were a Premier League club, but it certainly wasn't a bonus for being relegated.
  10. He wasn't offered a bonus payment to take the club to the Championship and League 1.
  11. If he was available for that cheap, SkyBet might be interested in signing him to avoid paying out on this 20 goal bet 😂
  12. West Ham United have been named favourites to sign Blackburn Rovers sensation Ben Brereton Diaz in January. The £5m-rated ace has dazzled in the second tier this season, as well as on the international stage with Chile. Somehow depreciated in value since we bought him 🤔
  13. 75% of those goals came in one game against a Belarusian side. In fact, he scored 20% of his entire careers goals in that game.
  14. Sheffield United attendance - 17,291 (4,705 away fans) - so approximately 4.5k tickets sold for the match in the home areas. That was on the back of a 7-0 defeat and not against another Lancashire side. Maybe I'm being slightly optimistic though - maybe 5.5k home fans rather than 8k.
  15. Well 8,000 (or whatever the number is) have already paid - so it's only another 8,000. I don't think that's completely unrealistic.
  16. I'm only assuming 8k of Rovers fans buying tickets (outside of the season ticket holders)
  17. No issue with that. Presumably there is a good number of season ticket holders in the Blackburn End that would at least make that not look empty - and then fill up the stands down the touchline. How many season ticket holders do we have? 8k? At £30 a ticket: Season ticket holders x 8k = £0 PNE fans x 6k (at £30): £180,000 Rovers fans x 4k (at £30): £120,000 Total attendance: 18,000 (Gate receipts on the day £300k) Home fans (12k) Away fans (6k) At £30 a ticket in the ends / £20 a ticket down the touchline: Season ticket holders x 8k = £0 PNE fans x 6k (at £30): £180,000 Rovers fans x 8k (at £20): £160,000 Season ticket holders x 8k = £0 Total attendance: 22,000 (Gate receipts on the day £340k) Home fans (16k) Away fans (6k) At £20 a ticket all over the stadium: Season ticket holders x 8k = £0 PNE fans x 7.5k (at £20): £150,000 Rovers fans at 8k (at £20): £160,000 Total attendance: 23,500 (Gate receipts on the day £310k) Home fans (16k) Away fans (7.5k) Obviously a large number of assumptions and estimates there, but I don't reckon the numbers are unrealistic.
  18. I'd sell tickets for the Darwen End and Blackburn End at £30 (I think you have to sell like-for-like views at the same price) and then sell tickets for the Jack Walker and Riverside at £20 each. Maximise revenue received from PNE and ensure there is a large number of home fans in the stadium. Assuming you're allowed to do that.
  19. How does that work - we're in November? He must have 19 months left. He signed a two year deal with the option of a third (presumably in our favour as normal).
  20. And the atmosphere would be electric
  21. Unfortunately falling to a narrow seven goal loss.
  22. You're being silly now 😂
