That would involve a few new defensive signings...at least two! Something we seem incapable of doing.

I posted similar in the transfer thread earlier. Even the Chaddy’s of the world seem really peeved at the now infamous ‘defenders are coming line’. Funny how it’s only since Charlton bagged a couple against us though. To think some folk in the summer were peddling the ‘we’ll be fine with a new keeper and Johnson operating in front of the back 4’ line.

I can only predict to save face they’ll lay the blame at Williams and Nyambe’s door - Williams for his end of season form and Nyambe for his performances at Afcon. The club won’t have a leg to stand on but this will be the party line. If we don’t bring any more defenders in and we’re struggling big time then perhaps he would walk. If he is being denied by the owners and getting the can for it from the fans, then you’d imagine he’ll feel extremely pressured and angry.

Either the current incumbent has got fed-up with Mowbray going for all of his ex players/payers from ex clubs, or it's a newly formed position. If it's the latter then it's very frustrating they're looking this late.

The lack of defensive signings thus far this summer would appear to be the one thing during his tenure to date that he’s getting universally panned for by our fans - particularly on social media. Usually you get the Chaddy’s and others defending him to the hilt but he’s getting it from all quarters. Think he’ll be feeling some heat if we don’t strengthen.

I’m anticipating another p*ss poor end to the window. ‘‘Twas ever the case under this lot. Reckon we’ll be lucky to get someone else in on loan. Cue all the drivel from TM and Waggot such as ‘we tried but just couldn’t get anything else over the line’ and ‘the market is just crazy at the moment. Hopefully January will be the time when we can take stock and bring in some real quality’.

Sharpe says he’s not ducking the questioning of Mowbray on the need for defenders. But I’m yet to see he or anyone else quiz him properly on the 180 he’s done from season end to now where we’re supposedly ‘defensively alright’. Did Mulgrew, Bell and Bennett turn into Baresi, Maldini and Costacurta over the summer? Because evidence would suggest they haven’t.

Can't see anything changing soon with our current set-up. Venus handling all transfers/negotiations with clubs etc. He's a coach FFS. Beyond amateur.

How did he not realise this before yesterday though? That’s why I think it’s unforgivable even if, God forbid, he went and brought in 2-3 new defenders and another goalkeeper this week.
