[Archived] Return Of Henchoz
G Somerset Rover replied to The Fly's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We would then have Zura, Ooijer, Todd, Henchoz and the injured Nelsen. The only sensible move here would be to offer him a deal until January. A one year deal would surely be too much provided Nelsen is back in a couple of months? -

Remember Mourinho and Duff Here's hoping he is back anyway. -

Looking at Nonda's record on the official site he hasn't started more than 7 games in one season since 02/03. This is worrying and lets just hope that the gamble pays off. He was almost world class quite some time ago...at least he has something to prove here I suppose. -

Nelsen's out for God knows how long as I just put in another thread. I think this will be a 1-1 with Roberts getting off the mark for Rovers. If we do fail to win Saturday then already Citeh at home becomes a huge game. -
Afraid not Den-according to the LET tonight he needs an OPERATION as we cannot cure his hamstring troubles. So when the mirror said around 1 week ago that he was out for four months they probably werent lying for once. We could be screwed if the boys dont get their act together at the back, we need our best player back asap.

The way Hughes was talking about him (Nonda), don't be suprised to see Roberts on the bench come Sat. -

I take it he was 'booed by his own supporters' as it says in that article because he didn't want to sign a new deal with Monaco? -
I think you've hit that nail on the head Philly. As much as I hate Spurs, how can we compete with the amount of money that they've spent? And I know these argies will take time to settle at WH-but they're a cut above anything we have, and the rest of their teams not bad either. As you say it's gona be one hell of a battle to finish above teams such as Newcastle, West Ham, Spurs, Villa and to a lesser extent everton who have all thrown around millions like players are going out of fashion. The next month is so important-wina few and we'll compete with these teams, lose a couple more and we'll no doubt be battling with the rest of the league, ie anywhere from Bolton to Sheffield Utd.

Fair point on McCarthy...I'd hold judgement on Roberts just yet though. -

I put it in another thread boys, but I read on amazon I think it was?! that Footie Man 07 is coming out in October-the same time as PES6. Last time I read anything official from SI Games they said Christmas-so what's everyone else heard? -
Yes he was frosty-he was pretty pants. So we should have around £8 million come January then?-Given our supposed original budget+our profit from the summer. I know alot will be dependant on our position then, but if we don't spend some of our summer budget in Jan then I think we can officially concur that we're skint.
-
Do you think that it would be wise to change Benny's position now though? I mean the guys been banging in goals his whole career as a striker-hardly the time to change at 29. Also has anybody heard anymore on Nelsen's injury/recovery? This could have a huge bearing on our season to point out the obvious.

A London man in his 40's is today "recovering well' after being robbed of over £2,500,000 worth of assets at his London estate. The man who can only be named as 'The silver fox' is said to be traumatised' at events which apparently started at around 11.57 pm late last night. Police are appealing for witnesses and are keen to speak to two grey haired men seen running away from the scene of the crime with what appeared to be documents in their hands. There have been unconfirmed reports that a fourth man may have been involved-a Serbian giant who like 'the silver fox' is recovering after being apparently 'dumped' at the estate late last night. A fifth man-a mobile phone entrepreneur and business partner of 'the silver fox' is currently being questioned by the police in conjunction with the cold hearted crime.

ok but its still definitely coming out on the PS2 in October. Amazon have got footie manager down for an october release date too-I swear the developers said it wouldn't be out until Christmas?
-
I'm probably being a divvy but Pro Evo is still gonna come out on the PS2 right? Edit-Yes it is on 20th october. So what does this exclusive rights deal for the 360 mean? just that the PS3 can't bring out PES6 but the PS2 can?

Whilst he probbaly is underrated-he certainly isnt englands most underrated...and as for Nelsen he is streets ahead of Todd in terms of quality. -

I knew somebody would dig up Pompey and evertons results. Pompey are only in such good form because they tonked us 3-0. Everton played very poorly against Watford and we should have beaten them. Too often teams start good runs against us. Incidently I would want to be in Tottenhams position because they're on 3 points and not bottom of the league. -

Phil-Alan Macinally was on sky yesterday saying that he believes certain players such as Todd's reputations go before them, and it is probably is true to a certain extent...but obviously Clattenburg would know anything of Ooijer's so we have no excuses there I suppose. As for the game-it's all been said really. For me the worrying points: *Jason Roberts-I honestly do not think that this guy is a first 11 player for a team with ambitions of a top six finish. For all his hard work he's got a pretty p*** Poor touch for a guy who trains every day and his finishing has always been questioned. You can tell hes lacking in confidence and as I said in another thread he had a terrible last third of the season for Wigan. *Creativity-We dictated the whole of the first half yet didnt create ONE GOOD CHANCE. Somebody mentioned it on the previous page last season we didnt really create many chances in matches and were doing the same this season-but obviously thus far we've not really hit the net. You cannot play Savage and Reid in centre midfield together....they constantly pass either sideways or backwards and on the whole are poor passers. Either Tugay plays every home game or we sign a new central midfield player. It's that black or white for me. *Steven Reid-Are Spuds and Man yoo still interested? I though this was the player to this season stake his claim as one of the top midfielders in the league. He's poor at passing and when he's not too interested the rest of his game is pretty lacklustre, ie tackling, getting forward etc. I'd probably drop him for the next match for Tugs. There were pluses-Emerton was again back to his Feyernord self, Neil was impressive in our problamatic left back role, Bentley showed that he can play right midfield-but providing we can get another creative midfielder because alone it's not enough-as we saw today. I'll reserve judgement on Ooijer until I've seen him more, but his strength does look a little concerning. In Holland he doesnt come up against the likes of Drogba, Beattie, Dunc Ferguson etc every week. -
Greggy all people are saying is dont take them likely. The experience that a few of their players have will be hard to play against...but like you say hopefuly we should have enough. Players like Benny and Ooijer are used to the Champs Lge.
-
Tricky Tricky tie-they have Linke, Zickler and co in their team...were gonna need to be at our best.
-
Ouch

When do group stages start should we get through?

The 60 mins I saw werent too pleasing on the eye either...I was quite suprised that hughes was so happy after the game. What is evident is that despite having the Lions share of possession, we seemed to do nothing creative with it other than playing either sideways balls or long ones.
