[Archived] Rovers And Bung InquiryG Somerset Rover replied to jim mk2's topic in Football Messageboard Archive To be fair although he has a history of wheeling and dealing, and he may yet be guilty-I don't think Harry did alot wrong to be honest. If an agent mentions a player that you like of course you're going to say the things that harry said. It's hardly like he said "Yeah when can you get him to slap in a transfer request?". To be fair Rovers should only be concerned with that n***head Harrison who Lucas and Toddy need to kick into touch asap.

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Pleased with the win-don't get me wrong. We needed the 3 points so badly, so therefore the performance should really be irrelevant....BUT as others have said, it doesn't take a genious to work out that our defence is an absoloute shambles at the moment. What is it with ooijer and Zura? They're obviously not bad players: Ooijer is deemed good enough to play in the Champions League and the Dutch first eleven week in week out, and Zura proved last season that despite the odd handball/penalty he is a good enough defender. Is it language problems? Is it that their just not vocal enough to help each other out? Are the full backs not giving them enough support? Should the midfield have tracked Bartons numerous runs? I really don't know what it is but one thing is ceertain and that is communication is a huge issue between our centre halves at present. After their shwoing yesterday I honestly don't know if we can just keep playing the pair of them in the hope that they sort it out eventually. I really think that Todd is the only answer at the moment as I really don't think that Henchoz will prove to be good enough...then again anything is better than these clowns at the back right now. From the highlights on Footie First it looks as if it was a little harsh to take Jeffers off as the team were all over the shop, and he even had 1 good effort that sailed just wide. Nonda did look good though, so a strikeforce of Nonda/McCarthy with Jeffers keeping them on their toes will hopefuly be good enough to get the goals at boro-to make up for the one's we'll let in at the back!! Oh and finally as good as he looked and is, Bentley is our very own Robben and Diouf-that dive before Nonda's header was a classic.

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive wakefieldrawks have we created any chances other than two MGP crosses that we scored from? The commentators around really are being less than complimentary on Rovers.

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Sounds like we need to get out of first gear despite going 1 up. The Sky commentator says that they've been all over us. Comon Rovers! EDIT-1-1 Joey Barton. and City creating "Loads of chances"

[Archived] Salzburg 2 Rovers 2G Somerset Rover replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive What's most worrying is the way when we have a lead at present we've got 10 men behind the ball for the last twenty minutes. I know we're nervy because we've yet to win this season, but you cannot expect to keep a team out for this long with no attacking yourselves, as the inevitable usually happens-as has with Everton and Salzburg.

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Anybody think that Hughes may stick with the formation from last night? I hope he doesnt and that we properly go for it...Citeh are poor opposition and need a good beating from somebody.

[Archived] Salzburg 2 Rovers 2G Somerset Rover replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive I would have taken 2-2 pre KO, but you obviously have to be gutted in the manner of the equaliser. I bet we draw 1-1 or 0-0 to go through at home-we NEVER (once) win in Europe no matter the opposition!

[Archived] Salzburg 2 Rovers 2G Somerset Rover replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Hasn't been much better with 4-4-2 recently Cocker...although I do still take your point!

[Archived] Salzburg 2 Rovers 2G Somerset Rover replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Shillito although it's true that the UEFA Cup may affect our league form, it's a bit of a stupid thing to be not too bothered about how we'll do. What was the point in having such a good season last year then?!

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Welcome aboard Shabani-Have a week of son: your place is being taken by the tried and tested Joe Garner this week!

Que another good post Christmas run then. I just pray that's the last we will have seen of this injury on the Admiral Guess Hughes was a little out with his "Weeks not Months comment".

[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2G Somerset Rover replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive I'm going for another 1-1. Citeh to frustrate us as Everton did a couple of weeks ago. Improved performance but still no win. Oh and obviously Dickov to score their goal just to rub salt into the wound.

[Archived] Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 0G Somerset Rover replied to ihtd's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Pleasure you do make a good point about last season, and it's true that similarly we werent hitting the back of the net last year too at this stage. However it is a concern-1 goal in 4 games is pathetic whichever way you wnat to look at it...and Glenn Roeder is getting stick from the media because they've only scored 3 from 3 games!!!

[Archived] Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 0G Somerset Rover replied to ihtd's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Hughes needs to give our 'starman' a good kick up the arse. It's fair enough if a player gives 110% every week, but players that have all the talent but not the desire aren't what we're needing right now.

[Archived] Rovers And RefsG Somerset Rover replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive I think it's a fair thread. Whilst some of our players don't exactly help themeselves sometimes, certain players in my opnion are more harshly treated than others. I posted it a while back but a couple of the sky pundits-Alan Macincally I think, believes that Todd imparticular gets different treatment from refs due to his 'thug' reputation.

[Archived] Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 0G Somerset Rover replied to ihtd's topic in Football Messageboard Archive Yes Phil all four. As Bobby G said we're showing no sings whatsoever of turning the corner yet. Most of Hughes' interviews these days are concentrated on penalties and sendings off anyway. Lets hope due to refereeing errors and individual errors that this won't continue to be the case. And as for being poor-we've not been overly poor after Pompey-I will admit that, but football relies on creating chances and putting the ball in the net, which we're doing neither of right now.
-
Perhaps a better debate for a thread like this would be 'Did we over perform last year'?

[Archived] Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 0G Somerset Rover replied to ihtd's topic in Football Messageboard Archive What annoys me is that after every game this season Hughesey has said "If we'd got one goal then Im sure we would have won quite comfortably" and other comments like "I really think we can push on from here". Managers need to tell it like it is "We're not creating any chances at the minute and it's a worry" would be a good start. If Hughes honestly believes that we're capable of getting one and then a hat load more in games like that then we should start to worry. I'm not trying to have a go but my annoyance at this thing, I think, stems from the souness days of "Lady Luck". Finally, can some people stop saying that we are where we are in the league because Pompey imparticularly and possibly Everton are "Near the top of the league". Would they be if they'd not spanked us and earned a point at our ground respectively?

[Archived] Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 0G Somerset Rover replied to ihtd's topic in Football Messageboard Archive The Rovers website said that it was definitely Neil who went to chest it back to Friedel for their second pen.
