Its either a striker in before Tuesday or a frustrating end to a season. By the sounds of things our defending was woeful, and it highlights the need for the Admiral to stay fit. He must have had a knock today...surely? -

True flopsy! He isnt getting any younger. Just think that without Tugay and Bellamy we'll struggle to create anything. I'd certainlt take a 1-1 or something. -

Nelsen has dropped to the bench and so has Tugay! Tood and Mokoena in. Our one true source of creativity has been dropped...aiming for a draw are we? -

Good observation on smith mate, I almost forgot how big a to$$er that guy was last night!!! The lad is a lying/dirty tit: "I love Leeds, I'd never go to Utd" Yeh right Alan. How on earth he didnt get a red card in the 1st leg was a joke. Im tempted to send in my CV for the strikers position just so I can lamp that git in the tunnel next week. -

Good performance from us, and it does make you proud to be a Rover. I was so confident of a win if Bellers was playing, but when I saw the team sheet it made you think "what hope do we have at OT with one very ordinary striker (compliment) and one withdrawn striker/midfielder. The writing was on the wall. Bellamy is so important to us that its crazy. If we don't have a striker by sat and Bellers isn't fit (very likely) then chances are that were going to be sent packing. I just hope that this defeat doesn't cause us to go on a bad run, but with our current set of strikers I just cannot see us scoring enough. Final note though, as someone else said, its been years since weve seen 11 players wearing their hearts on their sleevs...its great to see. -

To be fair to souey with regards to Emerton as a "bad" signing, half of europe were after the lad and it was deemed quite a coup when we got him. Everyone thought he was going to be an explosive winger...pitty that! -

Great win! Delighted that we got them back for the mugging at Ewood earlier in the year! Onwards and upwards. -

Again mate, Im not trying to have a go back, but you could argue that MGP has a fair amount of skill, flair and the ability to play the killer ball. I'm not saying he is or will be anywhere as good as Pires, but I think hes a similar type of player thats all. -

"I've yet to read anyone slating Pedersen." What about these? -

There are different types of wingers guys. A left sided player doesn't HAVE to be pacey and hug the line, eg Giggs, Duff. MGP is a more of a Pires type player, who cuts inside in an attempt to score/create goals. -

Why do some people give MGP so much stick? Hes performed very well this season and has chipped in with vital, vital goals. Just because he didn't have his best game yesterday (along with another 8 or 9 players) doesn't mean that he's useless. Only a couple of weeks ago against Pompey I thought he was our best player by quite a margin. -

It's not a good move mate, we need Bellers in from the off. He's suspended next wkend as it is so surely he must have a slight knock or something? -
Although United have a squad of class players, 1 player has been the major difference this season between them and the rest of the clubs bar Chealsea...Rooney. If he somehow (Please God) gets injured for the games then we can beat them. If hes on fire then I think they'll have too much for us.

[Archived] Rovers 2-1 Portsmouth
G Somerset Rover replied to Neil Weaver's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Good win, and a very valuable 3 points. We wre pretty clueless and nervous in the second half, but first half our midfield meant that we dominated the proceedings. I thought that MGP had his best game for us for quite some time. On a bad note everytime the opposition has a free kick at the moment, I'm very worried about Brads positioning. Yes the wall didnt do great but it didnt take a genious to work out where Matty Taylor was going to place it. On the whole though a good 3 points. Its teams like Pompey who are going to be very hard to play against from here on in due to the fact that their hanging by their nackers. -

Glad that the stats can finally shut that nobb head lawrensen up. In an article in either the mirror or the sun today he gives his opinion on who the prem clubs will be after come January. He says of us "they're a team who have been punching abover their weight"?! Where the hell does this guy get off. If we keep our best eleven fit were top 10 material no doubt. As for his constant Brum "win" predictions, wake up and smell the coffee mate. -

For some bizarre reason Im very confident of beating Wigan tomorow. I just think that they've been slightly fortunate with decisions etc this season (Fulham 100% pen got turned down if i remember) and if you get at them like Spurs did then they're not invincible at home. 2-0 for me and top half come the start of the year.
