  1. Sad news about Keith Flint. Firestarter always reminds me of playing Wipeout 2097 on my original PlayStation as a kid. Luke Perry passed away as well, only 52 himself. I've watched more 90210 than I'd care to admit so I was really stunned by this one.
  2. They must rue the day Anderson came knocking almost as much as we do.
  3. Just seems to go on and on for Bolton. They'll still be playing whilst the stadium is being taken apart to make way for flats, having to weave through cranes and wheelbarrows.
  4. Since Nov 10 we've managed 19 points out of a possible 57, with almost all of those coming in January (during which we also somewhat amazingly kept three clean sheets in a row, although those were against Ipswich, Milwall and Hull). We've shipped 35 goals and scored 28 in the last 19 games.
  5. Wasn't the Emnes goal Steele?
  6. We're joint highest for long balls in the league, so I don't think we know how to play any other way.
  7. Yeah, indeed. Not going to really count the late goals as "bad luck" as it's happened so often that it's clearly a problem with game management and/or late game fitness levels, which isn't luck but poor preparation.
  8. The 0-0 with Derby comes to mind as well. They properly battered us, no idea how we escaped from there with a point. And the 1-1 with West Brom, again were by far second best but scraped a draw thanks to a rare Harrison Reed wonder strike.
  9. Practically every worthwhile stat points to us being a very poor team who are extremely lucky to have the amount of points we have. There can be no surprise if we go into next season with Mowbray in charge and end up in trouble. Warning signs are everywhere.
  10. I was gutted when Evans was given a new contract. One of the most underwhelming players to have ever consistently pulled on a shirt, only plays properly when his contract is due and mysteriously recovers from injuries as soon as internationals start. Might be the worst signing Bowyer made with a transfer fee involved. Incredibly frustrating that we're going to have to watch him trundle around the midfield without contributing anything of note for another two years. Should have just let his contract expire or moved him on for a smaller fee - not that anybody would likely have been interested.
  11. Other managers and clubs will know that Dack's form is more down to our manager and terrible tactics than it is his innate ability and attitude. That's not to say Dack's value won't have dropped since November - it almost certainly has - but it's not going to have dropped by £10m+.
  12. Concerning comments for me. He sounded exasperated and desperate. Unless he is planning a significant overhaul in the summer (we're talking most of the first team) I don't see what slating individual players in public will achieve for him. He's still going to be relying on at least some of these players next season. That said I very much doubt he's in significant danger of losing his job. He only just got an extension recently and has a mate in Waggott watching his back in a critical position. I expect Mowbray will be here next season.
  13. The biggest concern for me under Mowbray, awful defending aside, is that our style of play hasn't really evolved into anything in just over two years. I'd still struggle to explain to anybody how we play or what our philosophy as a team is. Play a diagonal ball to Danny Graham and hope for Dack to do something special isn't much of an explanation but it's the closest I can come up with. We technically stormed League 1 last season but it didn't feel that way. We so rarely dominate teams or have good, solid 90 minute matches. At best it's a decent half and a not so decent half. It doesn't seem to matter what team we play, top or bottom of the league, the match always seems to follow the same basic, uninspiring pattern.
  14. Ipswich also effectively relegated today with a 2-1 home defeat to Reading, combined with us gifting Rotherham three points. 23,000 on though which is impressive considering the awful season they're having. I think there was a cheap ticket promotion on though which obviously helped. James Collins went off injured again. Such is the risk of bringing in older players who haven't played in a while - exactly why I was against bringing Huth in, think it would have been a similar story.
  15. Another bad day for Frank Lampard FC. Some serious problems emerging there.
  16. No point spending £7m on young players if the coaching isn't up to scratch. There definitely needs to be a serious review of the coaching structure at Ewood, as our players are making the same mistakes over and over with no signs of progressing. If anything we're going backwards.
  17. Had to check he hadn't quoted me tbh.
  18. I said in the last match that I found Mulgrew's sad sack reaction to our goals conceded pretty pathetic from a supposed captain. No leaders in our team at all.
  19. Strange that he's talking about having a lack of players willing to head the ball and go to war. You had one of those in Paul Downing, Tony, but you let him go out on loan!
  20. I just can't get over the language he used. It was like he was quoting a post off here.
  21. Whilst the players do deserve a shoeing, I'm not a fan of public humiliation. Ferguson was a good example of doing it right - he'd never individually criticise players in the press (except in exceptional circumstances) but he'd make sure they knew exactly how he felt in private, and that's how it should be done. Comments like that about Raya only serve to cause a divide, regardless of how true they are. Mowbray is obviously angry and upset but I'm not convinced those comments are the best way to go about things.
  22. When managers start ripping into players in public it usually only goes one way.
  23. Uh... OK. Mowbray certainly not pulling any punches in fairness!
  24. He'd be a good club ambassador, just keep him away from coaching and transfers.
  25. If they were going to do it, it would logically be against the team that has conceded the most away goals in the division. I believe by virtue of conceding three this afternoon to Ipswich's two we've for the time being pipped them to that unenviable title.
