Reed and Brereton really need to start, possibly Rothwell too. We're starting to look stagnant and a couple of changes are overdue.

Stunned that we escaped with a point, and a clean sheet. A good result despite a very poor first half performance. A lot better in the second half which was crucial.

Derby County vs Rovers, Tues 18th Sept
DE. replied to Mike E's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Our poorest game so far by some margin. Some of these players need to wake up. Huge improvement needed in the second half, we're very lucky that it's still 0-0. Rockets up arses needed. -
Tbf you haven't seen the contracts, so there's no way you can say if there's loopholes or not Last time we splashed out £8m it was at the behest of Shebby, was it not? Granted he's not here this time but who's to say they haven't had intel from one of their "advisers" telling them Brereton is the next big thing? The bid for him seemed to come out of nowhere on deadline day. As I said, my assumption is that he was Mowbray's target but it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility that he was identified by other sources.

As far as Venky's are concerned I'm ready for anything. I'm not going to say it's a done deal until the money is sent over. I expect it to be, but until it actually is it's still an if. I said I assumed it was Mowbray's call.
-
To be fair to Brereton he's got 14 years less experience than DG, so I wouldn't expect him to have that same ability as a hold up player. If he did I doubt he would have come here, he'd have been looking at a PL move. As I've said before, my issue is that if we do spend £6-7m on him on January that's the type of fee that you'd expect an instant impact from. Obviously Brereton is not at that point yet and I'm not sure we're in a position at this point in time to be spending such large amounts on potential. Still, I have to assume it's Mowbray's call so hopefully we will see the benefits in the near future.

Why do we concede so many last minute goals?
DE. replied to Alex Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We just don't defend very well. We haven't for a long time. Our best form of defence is attack and has been pretty much the entire time Mowbray has been here. Going into the last ten minutes with only a one goal lead is pretty much the worst position we can be in (other than losing) because you can almost guarantee we're going to sit back and inevitably concede. It's pretty amazing that we held on against Brentford. Hull are just rubbish so that one was less surprising. -
Why? We conceded two terrible goals and only got back into it through McShane's lack of discipline. We didn't look like we'd score from open play if the match went until midnight. Frankly we were lucky to get away with a draw in the end.

Rovers v Villa - 15th September 2018
DE. replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
A draw is still an OK result, but it's a real shame we can't hold onto leads. That's four points now we've already thrown away in the last few minutes. We deserved to win this one. I suppose we just dust ourselves down and move on. The performance was good enough to take positives from and Reed in particular looked very good. If we keep playing like this we'll be comfortably mid-table, but our inability to hold onto wins like this may cost us a lot more points as the season goes on, particularly as we struggle to score if Dack isn't in the team or on form. -

Well deserved. Stay solid and this will be an impressive win for us. -

We'll see at the final whistle. Villa haven't been causing us many problems so I can understand his thinking. -

We usually just wait for Dack to do something. If that goal was given he would have been the one putting us ahead. I don't know if anybody else would have steered the header in like that. -

Doing well so far. I just hope that wasn't our "good half". -

Our goal was definitely onside. No way the linesman could have seen a clear offside from his position (mainly because there wasn't one). Still, we were let off the hook too so it's just a case of both teams having to put up with the usual poor officiating. -
Ipswich on course to another resounding defeat. It's probably already dawned on the club that they've made a huge mistake. Not sure the fans have gotten over their unjust hatred of McCarthy yet to admit they hounded out one of only a handful of managers that could keep them competitive on a non existent budget.
-
Well, we already pretty much knew Samuel was done for the season. Gladwin was realistically never going to play a part anyway. I'm not sure we'll see either of them playing for us again, although Samuel may get another chance next season if he keeps working hard. Honestly though I'd hope by then we have better options to choose from.

Yeah, he's bringing it back in 2020.

Nah, Vince is sinking a ridiculous amount of his own money into this XFL nonsense. Can't see him being interested buying a (real) football team, let alone Bolton.
-
It seems like Anderson has tried to weasel his way out of paying the full amount due - after stating for months that it would be paid by the deadline. BluMarble obviously believe he is capable of paying in full, just not willing to do so, and have taken the risk of legitimately putting the club into administration to get the full amount (apparently £4.8m). Assuming the rescue deal is approved I suppose we'll find out soon enough which party ended up blinking, but it's certainly no way to run a business.
-
Looks like a last minute deal may have been reached for them to avoid administration. Deadline extended to noon. You have to think under Anderson it's a matter of time before the house of cards really does come crashing down, even if they get through this latest scare.

A 12 point deduction would completely derail the otherwise impressive start they've had to the season. Hard to see them coming back from that, especially as in January they'll likely have to sell as many players as possible to stay afloat. Parkinson has really done an incredible job there with a lot going against him, but you can only push that boulder up an increasingly steep hill for so long.
-
The apprehension and negativity regarding Mowbray's appointment was completely justified at the time. It wasn't some masterstroke from the owners, they went for another cheap option and this time they got lucky. Similar to Bowyer every so often the cheap option works out (to a degree). Of course it was also their cheapskate antics that got us into trouble in the first place by bringing in Coyle and we ended up relegated as a result. Why we're suddenly able to spend £7m on a single player after multiple seasons of poverty I don't know, but I'll never trust these snakes.
-
Perhaps all of this nonsense is part of the reason other clubs avoided signing him before we did? He's obviously pretty immature and the adulation and money coming from football is making things worse. It could easily spiral out of control so somebody needs to have a word with him and ask him what his priorities really are. It's possible Mowbray already has and it hasn't worked. He's our most talented player by far so we really need his head in the game. As good as Dack has been for us nobody is irreplaceable, so if I was Tony I'd at least have one eye on who to bring in as the next Dack should he be sold or be unavailable for non-footballing reasons. We don't want to put the club's future in terms of results on the pitch in the hands of a man who clearly hasn't grown up yet.
-
Surely it's obvious what Booth meant. It's the Kevin Keegan school of football which works great IF you are able to defend well, but we often can't so more often than not we'll end up drawing or losing if we don't pay more attention to the defensive side of the game. Particularly as we struggle to score from open play without Dack in the team.
