  1. I genuinely can't remember us scoring any goals from MGP's long throw, but assuming we did the ratio of useful/useless must still be significantly skewed towards useless.
  2. The only team I've ever seen the long throw tactic work for long-term is Stoke with Rory Delap. The way we did it with MGP, and how we're now doing it with Spurr, is just a slow, looping ball in which is dead easy for the defenders to deal with. It wouldn't be so bad if we had players in position to retrieve the ball once it's headed away, but we don't!
  3. On the plus side, we get to witness the return of the brilliant long throw tactic that served us so well in the past.
  4. I think Rotherham are worse this season, but wouldn't conclusively say we're better than them. We'll see in due course.
  5. Considering we couldn't beat either Cardiff or Bolton at home I'm not sure we can proclaim to be better than them. Of all the teams in the division I'd only say Rotherham are definitely worse than us. Without Rhodes even that might come into question.
  6. With Bowyer at the helm I believe we are destined for the drop. Not being able to beat a pitiful Bolton side at Ewood is almost as bad as failing to beat Blackpool last season. There are not enough goals in this team to survive under the current non-style of play. We need a big change, very quickly. Too many players in the comfort zone and if Bowyer's grin at the end of the match is anything to go by, a manager in the comfort zone as well.
  7. Anything less than a win at Bolton will leave us in deep, deep trouble. The only positive of drawing/losing that game is that it might be enough to trigger some serious dissent from the fans towards Bowyer, which could increase his chances of walking away. Unfortunately for us, Venky's would probably then go and hire somebody even worse.
  8. Even if Jordan does get his usual 20-25 goals we're still relying on a lot of players who do not have good goalscoring records chipping in fairly regularly under a "system" which has only ever seen the strikers score with any remote form of consistently. Who else was scoring our goals before Gestede arrived? We must have had a couple of others contributing. Was it Cairney? Conway? Marshall? I can't remember. All I know is the players we have in the first eleven at present, Rhodes aside, have not historically put the ball in the net regularly... and that should be a huge concern even if we do keep Rhodes. GB gives it a right good go and does ever so well given the circumstances. You're so negative yoda. Real fans can see what he's trying to do here, y'know.
  9. I don't dispute he's a good player but he's nowhere near one of the best players in the league. He's a solid Championship wide-man and can provide well for goal machines like Rhodes or Gestede, but he's no more than that for me. He's not a game-changer, if he was he'd either be gone by now or would at the very least have had some clubs chasing him.
  10. Conway's decent but "one of the best players in the league"? Come on now. Clubs aren't exactly banging down the door to try and take him from us. He's good in comparison to the rest of the team, but hey... he's competing with the likes of Lowe, Williamson and Chris Brown. It's not difficult to look alright. If Rhodes gets injured or we sell him, we're sunk IMO. That's pretty much the be all and end all from my perspective because nobody else in our team scores goals and without goals, we won't get anywhere.
  11. So pretty much a repeat of last season, minus Gestede and possibly one of Rhodes or Marshall too...
  12. We regularly leak 2 or more goals and if Rhodes goes will not have a goalscorer in the team. I don't know about you but that doesn't sound like a good combination to me.
  13. I would put some effort into this, but honestly I just don't care enough and there are better things to do with my life.
  14. The media loved reporting on United's demise during the Moyes era and were gleeful when LVG started off badly as well. Considering they would be well aware the majority of their readers hate United, why in the world would they back them?
  15. The press would have found it hilarious if it had happened at Old Trafford. Arsenal and Chelsea are the media darlings, I assume because they're based in London.
  16. I thought the FFVII movie was good (Japanese version that is, I never watched the English dub). The compilation project has mostly been crap, but from what I'm reading they are essentially treating that stuff as non-canon for the purposes of the remake anyway.
  17. I played FF7 all the way through on my phone recently, still a great game. The re-make will differ substancially from the original, but it should still be a fantastic experience - I'm just not expecting it to be as good as the original. I imagine they'll do away with the turn-based combat system in favour of the more recent button-mash design - which is unfortunate as I prefer the turn-based system. I'm fairly sure they'll refine the storyline and make it easier to follow. The depth of the original was immense, but the majority of the plot went over people's heads when they originally played it, myself included. I'm guessing a lot of the side-quests will be removed in favour of streamlining the main plot (and allowing them to get it out the door as fast as possible). Hopefully the Gold Saucer remains in tact, but they're more than welcome to get rid of that stupid Fort Condor mini-game. I assume random battles will be removed in favour of a more refined level-up system. There probably won't be any more giant houses to fight. I'm looking forward to it anyway, and whenever it comes out I'll probably end up getting a PS4 to play it (depending on whether the Oculus Rift is out and I haven't spent all of my money on that instead ).
  18. Heh. So much for Gaz saving them for the youth cup... what's the excuse now, then?
  19. It was a decent show. The main event was excellent. My only complaint is Triple H going over Sting. Stupid booking, and the handshake at the end made no sense at all.
  20. I think they initially thought he was just knocked out. They went to the finish straight away, but yeah, they didn't seem well prepared for what happened. As Tom said above, they were already treating someone backstage... but should really have had more than one stretcher and more medics available. I imagine that will be highlighted in the upcoming investigation.
  21. Sad, but also unusual. The dropkick and fall onto the ropes looked completely innocuous. Konnan probably didn't help by shaking the guy! Although I'm guessing the damage was already done by that point.
  22. In regards to cancelling, it says in the T&C: IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION CONVERTED INTO A PAID SUBSCRIPTION, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR SERVICE BEFORE THE END OF YOUR TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION BY CALLING (866) 308-5684 OR BY CANCELING IN THE BILLING INFORMATION SECTION OF YOUR WWE NETWORK ACCOUNT. So it looks like you can cancel online. As for being locked out of content, I'd say it's unlikely but I suppose it is possible. On the other hand a 6 month sub is still only around £38 so probably a risk worth taking...
  23. The WWE Network launched today. Technically only available in the US but rumour has it if you enter a US State when putting in your details you can still access it free trial currently on for 7 days.

    RIP Tashor

I remember him posting during the days I lurked, but not since I started posting regularly. His unique posting style certainly stood out. My condolences to his family and friends.
