Going on the road has caused TNA's production costs to skyrocket ($600,000 per episode) and their ratings haven't increased at all - gone down, actually. It's no wonder there are talent being cut. Think it's a matter of time until TNA folds tbh, they just don't have the TV exposure to become a successful business venture. Spike TV is not TNT, and Bob Carter is not Ted Turner. They can bring in Jeff Hardy, Sting, Hogan, whoever... it will never improve. TNA will make losses until it is shut down.

My condolences to the family. RIP.

Delighted to see Spain finally put to the sword by somebody, it's been a long time coming. -

Spain are boring whether playing in the heat or not. They play very effective football and deserve the success they've had, but it's so boring watching them win everything. Have no doubt they'll scrape a win against Brazil in the final, and probably win WC 2014 as well. -
Cheers Tom, it looks decent! I might have to give them a look at some point, though I'm not sure how close they come to these parts of the country. I'm debating going to see TNA when they come over in January, but I'm really irritated with how they're handling their product right now so I might not bother. As an aside, how bad is Raw right now? 3 hours of some of the worst television you're likely to see anywhere. We're truly back in 1994 when the WWF was awful and WCW wasn't big enough to challenge for supremacy. Except this time there's no Ted Turner and no TNT to push the opposition to the next level

Good stuff as always Bob. Makes for much easier reading knowing that we didn't have to suffer consecutive relegations. -

Sounds like we're playing pretty poorly. But then with Goodwillie starting what do we expect? A bizarre decision. Get the feeling it's going to be a disappointing end to the season, though it'd be incredible if we went down with our current points total. This game and the next are going to emphasise just how much of a clearout is required at the club over the summer. -
Considering Dortmund were and are one of the biggest teams in German football, average 80,000 fans a game, and despite the debt problems have still qualified for Europe in most seasons since 2003, a comparison seems well wide of the mark. They also never had Venky's, which is a handicap beyond any normal criteria. Despite their financial problems they have only finished lower than 9th once since 2003 in the Bundesliga, which was in 2008 when they finished 13th. They were never relegated, with 07/08 being the closest they've come by some distance. They seem to have got out of debt primarily by loaning money off Bayern Munich and selling their stadium. Probably not something we're going to be able to emulate. Getting in a good manager helped them, of course, but considering they were still qualifying for Europe most seasons it would appear they still had a fairly decent squad.

I would agree that we always needed to handle decisions very carefully due to our status - but we were a stable and well-run club. There's nothing hazy eyed about that, it's a fact. Pail Ince's reign of terror aside we did very well for ourselves for the majority of our decade-long return to the Premiership. This was mainly due to shrewd and well thought-out business decisions. There were errors and the lack of funding from the Trust was always putting us in jeopardy of being left behind by our rivals, but it's harsh to claim we were not a stable club before Venky's took over IMO, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say we were doing fine, considering our league form, our squad and our position at the time.

People can only stay positive for so long mate. You get bombarded with negativity day after day and eventually even the positive things are just footnotes on an overall negative page. I wouldn't begrudge anybody taking some pleasure out of last night's result, absolutely not. But at the same time those who can't feel anything positive about the club right now are totally right to feel that way as well. When you consider the bigger picture, it's difficult to find much joy in winning a single match, whether it is a big step towards survival or not. The only way to move forward as a united fanbase in a positive fashion, IMO, is for Venky's, Agnew, Shaw and Shebby to leave the club and never make themselves heard from again. Until that happens a dark cloud will hang over Ewood - and to be honest, I fear the club will soon be eradicated entirely should Venky's stay much longer. That fear casts a long shadow over pretty much everything else happening at the club, from the games themselves to the interaction between the fans both on match day and in general.

Hmmm. Not sure about this. I mean, yes, we are awful, agreed. But "for years now" ? We've been awful essentially since Venky's/Kean took over, which is just over 2 years. Before then we were just fine. The decline of the club has been extremely rapid. Also, I'm not sure it's right to be "happy" about scraping survival in the Championship. Relieved, sure, but happy? Up until a couple of months ago we were still eyeing the playoffs! It should never have got to this point and it's quite embarrassing that it has.
