I'm more shocked that 28% of respondants think they'd lose in a fight against a rat 😂 -
Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?

Appreciate it's not even close to the same thing, but there's a VR boxing game called 'Thrill of the Fight', and wow, after literally two minutes I was sweating hard and my arms were hurting. I couldn't believe how quickly it drained me. Now granted I'm not exactly a fitness fanatic, but I could play plenty of other physically demanding games for a good hour or so. Not that one though. -
It'd be like calling parents generous for feeding their child. They own the club, it's their responsibility to ensure it functions. Doing so doesn't make them generous, irrespective of how many owners fail to meet this basic requirement.

Tbf if everyone else has turned them down, I suppose that technically makes him the stand out candidate by default.

Ben Marshall - Under The Cosh Podcast #89
DE. replied to EgyptianPete's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Marshall contributed more than most during the Bowyer years, so I don't really have an axe to grind with him. If I was a Wolves or Norwich fan, on the other hand, I might be more annoyed. As far as Norwich are concerned though at least he cancelled his contract rather than sit on it for four years contributing nothing. -
£500k from what I've read.

Mad how he literally went from playing in a Championship to West Lancashire Division One in the space of four months, and was only 28 at the time. -
Very strange goings on at Leeds. The Athletic wouldn't have printed that unless they have strong evidence that it happened.

Extra time felt like it lasted another 90 minutes. Embarrassing from both teams. -
I think the fact they were unexpected just makes it more likely this season we'll fall back a little, honestly. If we're repeatedly defying pessimistic expectations, then those expectations are actually too low and we're actually a team of genuine playoff quality which isn't being recognised by the fanbase.

To be honest considering the original question starts with "if I were in charge", I assume Venky's would already be out of the equation, as otherwise you would theoretically have somehow taken over the Venky's empire and getting rid of Venky's would be getting rid of yourself. So... CEO seems like the correct answer.

I'm wary that we've had two big chances in the past two seasons and blown both of them. Considering our resources are in the middle/lower-middle of the division, law of averages suggests we may have quite an underwhelming season this time around unless significant improvements are made to the playing squad by the time the season kicks off. I'd say at the very least we need to move on two from the three of Gallagher/Vale/Leonard and bring in better replacements, whether that's on loan or otherwise. The rest of the team I'm less concerned about, although if JRC is moving to midfield then RB is a position that will need addressing, as Brittain seems hugely injury prone and I'd rather not have Travis or Bucko as RB cover this time around.
-
Have to say I doubt this, and McKenna has been saying the opposite, but I guess we'll see. Either way if we don't have better striking options than Gallagher, Ennis, Vale and Leonard by the end of the summer we'll likely be finishing below Ipswich. Let's hope the recruitment team are on it.
-
Yeah I thought the same tbh, header was quite near the middle and stronger hands would have kept that out comfortably. A shame for the lad as he'd otherwise had a very good game.
-
If we come 6th and go up I'll change my mind 😅
-
Terrible game, but ultimately the third best team in the league, by some distance, goes up. Fair enough.

From what I've been reading Leicester may have already committed a significant amount of their PL prize money towards paying this season's costs, and future running costs would need to be sourced from the Parachute Payments as per their agreement with the lender, so their rebuild may not be very easy. By the sounds of it they will desperately need to get back up at the first attempt.
-
Feels like that comeback against Peterborough will give Wednesday a major confidence boost going into this match. Barnsley won't have that same feeling of momentum having scraped past Bolton, but ultimately it's the playoffs and a one-off match, so anything can happen.
-
Not only that, but the likes of Brentford and Brighton are showing that with a shrewd setup and intelligent people at the highest levels of the club having less resources doesn't mean you're destined to be in a relegation scrap every season if you do get promoted. Hell, we were proving that many years ago, before Venky's came in and wrecked everything.
-
Brentford beating City today and finishing 9th is some achievement, as I believe they have the lowest wage bill in the division (around £10m less than Watford who are a division below them). Brighton also very low in that table, but finished 6th. Another incredible achievement.

I said Everton couldn't have asked for a better final game, and so it proved, as Bournemouth barely put up a fight. Leicester similarly not hugely troubled by a rubbish West Ham team with one eye on their upcoming European final. With that said, two wins in their last sixteen is why Leicester are going down, not because Bournemouth were already on the beach today. In the end, Everton survived because they were decisive enough to remove their manager with a few months to go and appoint somebody who'd been there and done it before. Leicester waited until April before questionably appointing Dean Smith, whilst Leeds didn't appoint a worthwhile manager until the beginning of May. As much of a mess as Everton have been this season, and it's not like Dyche has pulled up any trees during his tenure thus far, Leicester and Leeds were even worse. Everton fortunate to stay up on that points tally, though, and it'll be interesting to see if Dyche can improve them next season, or if they'll be fighting it out at the wrong end of the table again. Dyche was an improvement on Lampard, but then I probably would have been as well. There wasn't enough of a boost from Dyche that I'd have much confidence going into next season as an Everton supporter, unless the squad has a major revamp. Meanwhile, Leicester, welcome to the very small club of relegated PL champions... nice to have some company.
-
Quite simply because all of the teams below them are even worse. There ain't much quality from 12th downwards, really. Wolves getting utterly murdered by Arsenal and they're 13th.
-
Indeed so, it wasn't the kind of squad Allardyce could do much with, in truth. He was obviously going to accept the payday - because what did he have to lose? - but his chances of getting that squad to instantly adapt to his methods were slim to say the least.
-
Leeds score, then proceed to immediately concede again, lmao. Fans might as well just leave at this point. Meanwhile Southampton showing why they're bottom, now 4-4.
-
Southampton 4-2 Liverpool, Arma on the scoresheet.
