  1. The Spread Eagle at Mellor is very good value. It has good views of the Ribble Valley and sunsets over the Fylde and Morecambe Bay.
  2. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Albert Hall, Manchester last week. What a fantastic venue, a former Methodist hall, there's stained glass, moulded plaster and carved woodwork everywhere.
  3. He's got a pacemaker now. Like a teenager again.
  4. I think we can all believe you for once.
  5. Motorhead, Friday night, penultimate band on the Pyramid stage. Highlight of the weekend, indeed highlight of many recent Glastonbury line ups. Glastonbury was originally a Hawkwind lover's festival. Lemmy was thrown out of Hawkwind for taking the wrong kind of drugs. What could be more Glastonbury than that!
  6. Forget KP. England's problems will not be solved by one player. Cook and Strauss are not leaders or winners.
  7. Went to the Bayley Arms, Hurst Green in the end last night. The food and the service were both excellent. Two of our party couldn't finish their main courses, the gammon dish came with three slices of gammon.
  8. Anyone been to these recently: Vespa, Clitheroe Bayley Arms, Hurst Green Angels Restaurant, Ribchester Corporation Arms, Longridge
  9. Clitheroe 5 piece Good Foxy played The Continental Beer Festival on Saturday evening. Very talented young band.
  10. I saw The Pogues first concert at Blackburn KGH (1985?) in the early days when Andrew 'The Clobberer' Ranken played the drums standing up and Spider Stacey added to the percussion by banging a metal drinks tray on his head! They were a breath of fresh air then. Went on to see them in Manchester (International 1?) and then their second concert at Blackburn KGH. Crackin' nights then but they went downhill later as Shane's drinking got worse.
  11. Anyone going to Beatherder this year? Has to be the best festival for the last 5 years.
  12. Bloody Hell - good job they weren't Motorhead tickets.
  13. The Duke Of York, Grindleton - excellent last Saturday.
  14. The Seafood Pub Company have now taken the Barley Mow in Barley.
  15. Have you tried Ye Horns Inn, Goosnargh (more upmarket) or the Royal Arms, Tockholes (more down to earth)?
  16. Saw Overkill and Bomber tours at KGH. They blew me away. Seems like yesterday. Lemmy has a pacemaker now.
