Doesn’t matter who is picked. Everything is in place: in great form no injuries or suspensions at home close to play off places opposition are poor opposition we love to hate fans full of hope and optimism. Can only mean one thing - an away win. We are Rovers after all. -
I am clearing out! 51 Rovers programmes to anyone happy to pay postage. I live in Lincolnshire. Mostly season 92-93 (16 home, 2 away) and 93-94 (13 home) with miscellaneous others from earlier and later seasons. PM me if interested.

It was at Wrexham not Mansfield

In terms of impact per minute nobody beats Keith Fear. 2 first half goals at the Turd on Boxing Day 1977 to send us in 3-0 up. Arrived late the worse for a few pints in Padiham and had no clue who he was.

He may be having a poor game but it’s hardly a shock!

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/oct/28/shouting-at-the-tide-myth-managerial-efficacy-alex-ferguson-jose-mourinho Good article on the limited powers of managers. Worth a read for all the TM critics. -
Yes. Peterborough fans say he is a diver, soft and thinks he’s far better than he is. Not a TM type at all.

I thought John O’Mara would be decent and that Norman Bell was a superstar -
Spoke to a work colleague who's a season ticket holder at Peterborough and knows his football. Said we'd be daft to sign Maddison. Not our type. Goes to ground too easily, play acts and thinks he's a whole lot better than he is. He reckons his career is going nowhere. He said the Blackburn fans will not take to him at all.

[Archived] Match Preview: Peterborough United v Rovers
BillC replied to Kamy100's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Went today as I live close to Peterborough. It was an error strewn game. In the first half we were out muscled in midfield and looked vulnerable on the break. Awful defending for their goal. Nyambe and Conway were poor throughout. Tomlinson made a big difference and with Smallwood they controlled things. Dack was the best player by miles. Samuel struggled and Graham was no better. Home support was non existent but the Rovers fans were vocal creating some atmosphere. We need a couple of signings in Jan. A right back and a winger might be enough to turn us into a good promotion bet but we are not yet good enough on this performance in my opinion. -

Lady Luck - a tactical cock up. Frequently used during 2000-04, the Sounessic era. -
There is a downside to the Big Club's relegation. One day soon you will select P504 on ITV's teletext and get..... the Bolton Wanderers' page. You have been warned - the shock could be fatal.

Bruce, like many before him, is finding that the transition to the 'next stage' is rather more difficult than he imagined. A number of managers of less fahionable clubs have succeeded in making their teams well organised and hard to beat and so survived for a few seasons in the prem. Then, with some Sky cash in their pocket, they try to make the step up to challenge for Europe. Ipswich did well and then bought Finidi George and an Italian keeper - disaster. Bradford bought Collymore and Carbone and disappeared pronto. Leeds bought everybody going and it worked for a while. Everton invested heavily on the back of last season's success and Moyes is a canny bloke but 4 points from 10 games is not great. Even Curbishley found that investing in Rommedahl and Murphy last season didn't pay dividends although he seems to have sorted it out this. Middlesbrough have had limited success but a couple of UEFA cup outings is not a great return on the millions that Gibson has forked out. It costs too much to get these players in and they destroy the dressing room. Signing someone like Walter Pandiani (or Ciccio Grabbi for that matter) is so high risk as to be irresponsible. Seems to me you need to wait for your acadamy to produce a couple of gems simultaneously and build from there. Meanwhile, scrap and make do as per Big Sam.

It's got to be Strachan. I can't wait for those after match interviews when he makes if perfectly clear by his replies that he thinks Garth Crooks is an irritant and that all his questions are totally inane. I think we will see an enormous increase in the standard of referee baiting too. He will make 'we got stuffed again and had no luck etc etc' actually sound quite amusing - much easier to take than the exasperated 'they've all got in for us' nonsense that Souey has served up. Wee Gordon may be a hopeless manager but at least we'll go down with a smile.
