  1. Really starting to feel the lack of January signings now. Tombola team selection time. I'd like to see a 4-4-2 in the absence of a central play maker. Solid base, simple and hard-working in the middle, get the ball out wide and get it in to the box. Something like: Walton Nyambe Lenihan Tosin Bell Armstrong Travis Davenport Downing Graham Gallagher Same back line. Shame to put Arma back out wide but needs be. Johnson was very poor last game, Davenport is next in line. Toss a coin on whether to play Brereton, Gallagher or Samuel next to DG.
  2. No arguments there, he had a good game as did everybody on the pitch. He'd gone a chunk of games without being a consistent threat beforehand though, hopefully he can start to sustain it because he's one of our biggest threats on his day.
  3. Wouldn't change the last starting 11, assuming current fitness and no surprise signings. Off the back of a very good performance leading to a 5-0 win, don't see a major need to change anything. I think JRC is one more decent impact sub appearance away from winning a start ahead of Rothwell, who has been quiet lately.
  4. Loaning Brereton to Holland is a lifeline, we need to snap their hand off whilst an offer is there. Possibly the only chance we’ll get of recouping any money in the future. and/or getting any sort of player with confidence and developed ability. Serious questions for Mowbray to answer though, 7m unproven striker out on loan due to not being able to cut it, at a time where 7m should’ve been improving our starting 11 considerably.
  5. Like this. Would also be interested to see how flexing it to have Armstrong/Graham as a front two with Rothwell (or preferably Holtby) playing in the hole behind as a 3-4-1-2 would do. We need to learn how to score more goals without Dack. An Armstrong/Graham partnership might work best with our squad, varying attributes to complement each other, not to mention Armstrong is our current (fit) top scorer, and Graham our only (fit) proven goalscorer at this level.
  6. Probably, but leaves us with less of a problem and increased revenue potential during times of success. Will always be something for Town clubs to grapple with.
  7. Rovers with 13k on within an immediate catchment area of around 150k people. Liverpool with 50k on within an immediate catchment area of around 2.5m people. Get them to do the maths!
  8. Another great result. The lads are fighting for each other and it’s ace to see. We are The Rovers!
  9. Top of League 1 with Wycombe, 8 points clear of the team in third. Got them punching well above their weight, maximising their potential and beyond. Ticks a lot of boxes. Gets his tactics right, has consistency with his side and finds his best 11 avoiding unnecessary tinkering, does the basics well, keeps clean sheets, a proper game manager, brave, positive attitude, great character and a leader, commands respect, inspires his players, young and ambitious, knows Rovers, yada yada.... Will be managing in the championship soon one way or another. If only Waggott & co had any ambition or a purposeful vision.
  10. Rovers were awful today. Any other side in the league would’ve beaten us comfortably. Happy to get 3 points as ever, but the future stays worrying if nothing changes.
  11. And to add to that, successful managers either do the basics very well and consistently, or live and breathe a forward-thinking philosophy. We don't see either.
  12. Very disheartening comments.Shows a major defeatist attitude, and not for the first time. If allowed to continue this spiel will breed bad results & will make our better players want to leave. We have no given right to be anywhere. But we've got a half decent squad, a good opportunity to kick on and it feels as if he's backtracking on the summer plans and is painting us out to be a real minnow at times. The person leading our squad needs a positive, winning mentality. I'm not seeing it.
  13. Utter crap from start to finish. Mowbray Out.
  14. Thanks to Tony for all he did, but it’s undoubtedly time for change now for a good number of reasons. Mowbray Out.
  15. Definitely time to find and stick (emphasise the stick) with a system that suits Dack and Holtby, that's probably our only slim chance of achieving anything this season. Due to our best two defenders being injured long term, I'd probably be more comfortable with a 3/5 at the back. 4 at the back with Bell/Hart/Bennett at left back is an absolute no go for me. Same 11, not ideal but something like: Walton Nyambe Tosin Williams Bennett Travis Johnson Downing Holtby Dack Armstrong
  16. Another Mowbray masterclass in gifting points to the other team. Should’ve been out of sight but some ridiculous tactical changes and substitutions pulled us right out of the game. Change needed.
  17. Brilliant... good effort. Go to bed pal.
  18. Truly awful set up and performance. QPR were poor but picked us off due to capitalising on our mistakes, and knowing their roles and responsibilities. We have more talent and potential than them but nobody would know it. What a waste.
  19. Every time I start to believe Mowbray is ‘the man’ the same frailties jump out and slap me. The constant chop and change of the side, the constant square pegs in round holes, the constant experiments, the lack of playing identity despite talking about it, the lack of defensive reinforcements. Beyond frustrating when other clubs with much less quality and financial backing are above us due to being managed with logic and consistency.
  20. Buzzing. Proper away performance, composed until the last minute, much better than last season. COYB.
  21. Same team as Saturday for me bar Rothwell in for Downing or Gally. Nothing against those two at all, just think this is the sort of away game we need pace on at least one of the wings to counter attack them from the get go. Cunningham seems competent enough at left back to not need a winger doing half of the defensive job for him too. No issue if we do go the same 11 - Downing and Gally were impressive Saturday & Rothwell and Arma are good options of the bench if needed.
  22. Much better today. Defence was solid on the whole, Cunningham is miles better than any left back we’ve had in recent years, a real upgrade for the back line. Travis and Johnson are a very good cm pairing at this level. Constantly grafting with quality to match. Gallagher worked his balls off and was my man of the match. One Jack Walker ?⚪️
  23. The attacking midfielder on his first ever start put to right back WELL DONE TONY
  24. Wonder what we actually do in training? 20 mins run about, have a kick about then home? Wouldn’t surprise me based on the pre match kick abouts we see. We’ve looked short of ideas going forward and we’re very disjointed as a defensive unit. Not sure what the plan is in the slightest. Forget the recruitment I think we’re tactically miles behind many teams in this league. Everybody from the sexy football sides like Leeds & the we’ll turn up and do a job on you sides like Charlton.
  25. "No not right back Ryan, Tony says you'll be left back whilst Benno's here, left back in the changing room"
