As someone who also went to the game - and I suspect many on here didn't - the above is a fair summary. However Johnson was awful and almost out of self-control in the second half, giving away possession for fun. Gallagher trundles around and directs headers to nobody in particular and without looking like he'd score in a month. Walton looks to have no presence even though he was not really tested. Showed a lack of bravery in failing to cut out the cross for 2nd goal. Bell makes errors that are inexcusable at this level . Offered nothing down the left side as Rothwell persisted in running sideways across. Armstrong gets into great positions but lacks the ability to get round an opponent and the crosses are aimless. In a competitive league this bunch look set for a scrap near the bottom.

I doubt that back 4 will ever happen unless Bennett is unavailable.

Williams wasn't a CB until he joined Rovers and then Coil had one of brainwaves and we've been lumbered ever since. At CB Wiiliams has looked half-decent but worrying if he is now the number one at left CB.

Decent results in the last few meaningless fixtures last season papered over an awful second half to last season and now with the same personnel (in a so-called "defence") the same trash is being served up. This and the relegation thread will be top of the posts until or unless Mowbray is potted.

Mowbray is condemned out of his own mouth. The failure to strengthen the defence is criminal and he should pay the price, and presumably will do when this shambles is bottom of the league in November.

Being under contract ensures either a fee or Tribunal compensation if he leaves before 2022 and with all the lower leagues experience he will have had, that seems likely. In the mean s loan fee and wages contribution should cover most if not all of the ongoing cost.

Quite likely because Carson was signed by Mowbray at WBA and he generally only ever brings in players from his previous clubs. The scouting dept is superfluous and, judging from the BB signing, useless.

Darlow appears to be on a par with the likes of Fielding and Jason Steele, two dodgy keepers who moved on free transfers. Hope we're not paying more than a nominal fee for him.

Time to resurrect the relegation thread after (another) disastrous weekend. Currently Rovers have the worst results over the last 6 matches of any team in the 4 divisions. Reading and Rotherham - between them - have lost only once. Apart from the New Year blip of 4 wins this losing habit stretches back for 3 months now. On current form and with non-league standard defending there are probably just 3 matches that offer a realistic prospect of picking up any further points - the home fixtures v Wigan, Bolton and Swansea (and last match nerves might screw that up too). If both Reading or Rotherham win 3 (out of 11) and draw 3 each then more points will be required - where from - and recent form suggests they may well do just that. Mowbray needs to stop chuntering on about next season and do the job he's paid to for this season.

In 4 transfer windows Mowbray has signed only 4 players who have really impacted the first eleven - Dack , Armstrong, Smallwood and the fading Reed. Not an impressive record that bodes ill for what is needed this summer.
