  1. Five of us went to Liverpool without tickets and we each had a self-imposed £50 limit to hopefully buy one off a tout outside the ground. First few touts we approached were looking for £100+for theirs and we were about to give up the ghost and watch it in the pub when I managed to bag two together for £120 (I'm so glad I broke my financial promise!). So me and my best mate Paddy took the tickets and the other three went off to the pub. The seats were in the main stand and when I looked closely at mine I realised why they were a bit cheaper. They were complimentary tickets so the tout's £120 was total profit! Anyway we took our seats, nervous as hell, to find we were right next to the directors box. We didn't have colours on, though I did see a couple of other Rovers fans quite close to us who did, and nobody bothered them. Mark Wright, the injured Liverpool captain, was sat next to me so I guess this was the part of the stand they used for club employees. I have often wondered whether it was a player those touts got their tickets from. As far as the game goes, I don't really remember too much about it other than the goals and a couple of misses by the SAS at the Kop end in the second half. It became really difficult to concentrate on the game in front of us, particularly when both games were sitting at 1-1. Paddy had a little transistor radio to his ear and I was more interested in watching his reactions than I was in the game. Anyway when the final whistle went at the Boleyn Ground he literally threw his radio into the air and started hugging me. On the pitch, I could see that Henning Berg and Colin Hendry were doing the same- and the game was still being played around them! As others have said, Scousers were congratulating us and they were also happy that their own team had won. I might be wrong about this but I'm pretty sure that most of the Liverpool fans stayed to see the trophy being presented. What a time to be a Rover! We met our other three friends in the pub afterwards and it was a proper party! On the way back there was a big banner draped over a property just off the M61 which said "CONGRATULATIONS ROVERS, FROM BWFC FANS", which was unexpected. And we sang 'Glad All Over' for good measure (if you know, you know). When we got back to Blackburn, the scenes outside Ewood Park were incredible, and Rovers fans were cheering the returning supporters as though we were the players! Of the five of us who went that day (and we were all around the age of 30 at the time) two aren't with us any more sadly, including Paddy. We've seen things those Dingle bastards will never see. Venkys Out!
  2. You weren't two months premature by any chance were you?
  3. Lee Perry and the Upsetters - Throw Some Water In
  4. 1. What's the desired end game. New owners. The club must be put up for sale for a reasonable asking price. Part of this means the owners being aware the money invested to date in the club is a sunk cost. This is absolutely bang on the money (pun intended!)
  5. It was 100% the longer game.
  6. Andy Peebles, former Radio 1 DJ and big supporter of Lancashire cricket, as well as being the last journalist ever to interview John Lennon, has died suddenly (in Blackburn, apparently?). RIP
  7. Terry Jacks - Seasons In the Sun
  8. John Lennon - Watching the Wheels
  9. There was plenty of malice in it. It was fucking cowardly in my view. Elbowing a player in the head/face area as you’re running past them? Nah, he should get a 3 match ban for that one.
  10. He couldn’t play because of a concussion injury.
  11. Martha Reeves and the Vandellas - (Love Is Like a) Heatwave
  12. Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Man Called Uncle
  13. No, he isn’t the main figure of people’s anger. Anyone with half a brain can see where the problem has lain for 14+ years. But that still doesn’t excuse Eustace’s behaviour. He’s a fucking snake as far as I’m concerned. Venkys out.
  14. Only that he was the Manchester interview.
  15. Cancer apparently - there wasn’t much time between diagnosis and death, literally weeks. 😥
  16. It came from a normally excellent source. I will caviat that by saying they have been wrong before. But only once.
  17. The third of three interviews took place in Manchester today. Announcement by Friday. I wasted a fiver on Carsley earlier in the process but I think my £30 on Gary O’Neil has a decent chance of coming in 😉 Oh and RIP Rick Buckler 😥
