If they have the ability/facilities to stay overnight surely it would be better to do so the night before the game and then travel back up the road straight afterwards?

The Staple Singers - Lets Do It Again -
As I tell anyone who will listen, his solo stuff is a mixed bag, that’s part of the attraction of him for me these days. However if you liked The Jam there are plenty of solo songs that wouldn’t have been out of place on a Jam album, with the possible exception of his last album True Meanings, which was a bit different. If mix tapes were still a thing I could do a belter of Jam-type songs from his solo career. I’m in no position to comment about anyone’s hair to be honest but I think he’s modelling his latest style on Bowie (who his wife is a fan of apparently). Check these solo songs out Gav: Peacock Suit Brushed There’s No Drinking After You’re Dead A Bullet For Everyone Come On, Let’s Go From the Floorboards Up Savages Push It Along Fast Car, Slow Traffic (featuring a certain Bruce Foxton) Wake Up the Nation That Dangerous Age White Sky All Jam-like ?✊?✊?

We'll just need to agree to disagree on the challenge really mate, I guess. You call it a 'brain fart' by the ref, whereas I call it a slightly harsh decision caused by Brereton acting like a 14 year old schoolboy with the clear intent he showed to take the man and not the ball, giving the referee a decision to make, which he made with glee. I agree with you in the sense that I would probably have also 'only' given him a yellow card but it wasn't that outrageous a sending off because we have seen several similar examples. The one poster we have on here that refereed at the highest level of the professional game called it a red straight away, and that's good enough for me. Whether I agree with him or not, it at least tells me that something about the challenge had 'red card' about it and it wasn't just a maverick ref on the day trying to get some attention. You saw it differently and that's fine, but once again some people (not necessarily you) are using it as a stick to beat Mowbray with.

It was silly and petulant, and above all, brainless. And yes, in terms of professional football it was well after the ball had gone (a pub league challenge, if you like). Most importantly it gave us a bloody mountain to climb in the game. When it first happened I thought 'that looked a soft one' but when I saw Brereton's sheepish reaction as he was trudging off I wondered. Then i saw the replay and it is indefensible. On your last point there, Travis got pelters from Mowbray and on here when he got sent off for a similar thing a while back as I recall (though at least we won that game i think as it happened right at the death)?

That's exactly what I was laughing at

Yeah I did get the impression that Dack wasn't Ben's biggest fan. I did laugh at the line that I think @Stuart picked up on at the time...."They aren't the brightest tools in the box". I splurted my pint out when Dacky said that.

It would be remiss of me not to tip my hat to Paul Weller, who by reaching number 1 in the album charts with On Sunset, has become only the third artist to have number 1 LPs containing original material in five separate decades (and the other two are Lennon and McCartney which is spurious as one of them was a remixed effort of previously released stuff). The first four Jam albums were out in the late 70s, and All Mod Cons and Setting Sons in particular could easily have topped the charts, so that almost makes it 6 decades. Incredible longevity, whether you like his stuff or not. That challenge wasn't Brereton showing 'bite'. It was silly, and if he can't work out the difference between a good, strong challenge and one that gives the ref a decision to make then he shouldn't be playing professional football. Being able to hear the reactions before and after the challenge from those around it because of the absence of crowd noise shone a light on it as well I think. I do think it was a harsh red, and I was raging at the Barnsley manager's inflammation of the situation, as well as Mowbray's impassiveness, but I don't think - for all his faults - Mowbray could support the lad on this one, though I agree that any club punishment should have been kept quiet about.

Although I’m nowhere near as bad as I once was (I swore after Selhurst Park 1989 I would never let football affect me that badly again!) I am still a grumpy old sod for a couple of hours after a defeat. Bloody football, eh?

Every single player of Nelsen's era would have been a very rich man without any pay-offs they might have been entitled to when they left - it would have been nice for a couple of them to refuse to sign a NDA and side with the fans. They all piss in the same pot as far as I'm concerned. -

These are the games to play him in to ensure that he gets that experience under his belt. In terms of future planning, playing Broad and Anderson together in this mini series would be the equivalent of playing Mulgrew, Graham and Downing in the last 4 games of this season for Rovers. Oh wait......

Can't argue with that matt - 200 seems about a par score to me but the way that ball was swinging at times if we pitch it up we could run through this lot quite quickly.
