  3. And a wonderful tribute by Michael Douglas, to his dad: "It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to. But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband. Kirk's life was well lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.. Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son."

  5. The Who - The Kids Are Alright
  6. I’m pretty sure you’re right - I certainly remember Parkes scoring a longe range effort against Luton but can’t definitively say whether it was in that 3-0 win (April 76) or not. It does sound about right though.
  7. The Style Council - One Nation Under a Groove

  13. Our kid played a few Rovers reserves games as a teenager with Tony when he was coming to the end of his own career. He says that he always took the time to pass on his wisdom to the young lads coming through in a really kind way, which echoes what you have said. Also, anyone linked to Colin Hendry on Facebook will see a lovely post about Tony (as well as a brilliant photo of the pair of them taken just last week).
  14. The Electric Light Orchestra - Yours Truly
  15. The Beatles - Cry Baby Cry
  16. Really sorry to hear this. It’s a cruel and devastating disease that many families will have direct experience of. Thoughts are with Tony and his family. The word legend is bandied about a bit too much these days but who would deny that Tony Parkes is “Mr Blackburn Rovers”?
  17. Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel - Mister Soft
  18. Pretty fair analysis there I would say DE.
  19. Everything But the Girl - These Early Days
  20. Bobby Vinton - Sealed With a Kiss
  21. The Style Council - Waiting on a Connection
  22. Think he might have been making a joke about Rankin and Costello Chaddy
