It was quite deliberate of Archer to bowl slightly slower than at Lords, and it just shows you what an intelligent cricketer he is. I'm surprised Archer frustrated you yesterday den, you must be a pretty difficult fella to please! Woakes and Stokes were the two that frustrated me.

Archer has picked up where he left off I see. Regardless of what happens in this series, this lad is a really exciting addition to the England ranks.

I think the point is, its too small a sample size to be extrapolating it over a full 46 game season.

Brilliant, thanks

Does anyone have a link to that particular clip? Funniest thing I've seen on telly in years, I nearly choked on my vodka and coke.

Funnily enough I thought the commentator/co-commentator had done a reasonable amount of research on our start to the season, particularly in respect of TM's selections and his thinking behind them. I distinctly remember them talking about 'reverting' to the longer style into Danny Graham for the Boro match and it paying dividends, but that Armstrong's pace was being utilised for last night's game as he had terrorised Hull in the corresponding fixture last season. That's the sort of insight I would expect and i appreciated it to be fair. I only listened to TM and DW's interviews after the game, I rarely listen to the studio discussions so couldn't comment on that.

I agree with this. I know we all like to moan about Evans' crab-like style, but at the end of the day he's an international central midfielder and he's a back-up player for us. Fans of many other championship clubs will be quite envious of that scenario, and would no doubt scoff at us for moaning about it. Downing could also play there if required, probably to great effect (a la Gordon Cowans in 1992)

Listening to Downing and TM’s post match interviews I think they have. They both spoke about “making hard work of it” and I thought that was telling. Really enjoyable night though.

If we had conceded that goal I would have been claiming offside against Armstrong tbh. That said I thought the officials, the referee in particular, had an excellent night. His use of cards was spot on.
