  1. Exactly mate. Not to mention the coach loads from Accy, Rishton and Great Harwood (the latter were who did me over, five of 'em)
  2. Corrected for you mate ?
  3. Freddie Starr is 'dead' apparently, according to the BBC, although they have now changed their headline to "reportedly died" and removed the inverted commas, which were a bit weird. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-48222827 I can't get Curtis Mayfield out of my head now
  4. As someone above said, it was probably more likely to be the Red House or somewhere like that.
  5. If you went to Bogarts and you weren't from Darwen you would definitely remember it. Parochial battles were a nightly occurrence. I took the worst kicking I ever got in that place. The era you describe is spot on for Bogarts.
  6. Can I just say thanks to a few people: Firstly, to Damien Johnson and his team. As another poster pointed out, that man should be Rover of the Year! But also to the likes of Stuart and Parsonblue and Oldgregg86 who regularly provide the forum with updates from youth team and reserve games. For the those such as myself who are hundreds of miles away they are a fabulous lifeline to this part of the club, and are much appreciated. Have a good summer guys.
  7. Not entirely on topic but all these posters talking about their wedding day being on the same day as a Rovers game made me think of the late great Bill Shankly. Shortly after his famous quote "Football isn't a matter of life and death, its more important than that!", a journalist asked him whether it was true that he had celebrated his wedding anniversary by taking his wife to watch Rochdale. "Don't be so bloody ridiculous son" he replied, "who gets married during the football season? It was her birthday. And anyway, it was Rochdale reserves!"
  8. I take your point Philip but I would put my house on the number of English players starting the games being more than 6.
  9. That sounds promising Tony. Thanks for your efforts mate. As for Waggott, talk is cheap, let's hope he backs it up.
  10. While there's no doubt its a big ask, I have a hunch that the Liverpool-Barca tie has a twist in it yet. I think I'll stick a fiver on Liverpool to win 4-1 at Anfield and go out on away goals. They are certainly capable of sticking a few goals past this Barcelona team, it is really a question of how many Barca get in reply. They don't travel all that well and some bang average Spanish teams have scored plenty past them this season. Liverpool got round the back of them several times the other night and on another day would have scored three or four. Mane, Milner and Salah would normally put those sitters away.
  11. Limmie & The Family Cookin' - A Walkin' Miracle
  12. Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes
  13. She has lips? Can't say I noticed 'em Mark
  14. Paul Weller - Wild Wood
  15. The Jam - Beat Surrender
  16. Deacon Blue - Twist and Shout
  17. How could you possibly forget Vivian Dennis Busby? ?
  18. The Style Council - Life at a Top People's Health Farm Not Mr Weller's finest effort, it has to be said (though the album it came from is better than it gets credit for)
  19. Ella Fitzgerald - Someone to Watch Over Me
  20. They were all born within 10 miles of Celtic Park apart from one - who was from Saltcoats (about 30 miles away)
  21. I was going to suggest that Porto match. I also remember them playing Aberdeen around that time but it may have been a couple of years earlier.
