Thanks. My brother was first on the scene and tended to Mick. I couldn’t remember exactly when it was but knew it was somewhere round about the same time as Noel.

Did we not lose Micky Heaton around the same time Jim?

Another great test match - this time in Abu Dhabi. Amazing win for NZ! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/46262239

I agree with your view of Souness as being a vital appointment in our recent history. He did an amazing job for the vast majority of his time as manager and I do think he gets a bum deal when compared to - say - Sparky. I must admit I didn't think the suggestion that you do a counter-piece was anything to get worked up about but I can see how you might have thought that.

Arise Sir Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish

I'm not normally a fan of the honours system but this is fully deserved. Arise Sir King Kenny, not bad for a 'wee scally fae the Milton'. -
You might if he has also set a new goalscoring record in the process, possibly, yes. I've never been that keen on the lad myself, but he is England's record goalscorer after all, and its not as if there haven't been recent precedents (albeit not English ones).

That's a very fair post

Indeed. We passed it around them at Celtic Park as I say, without creating much. They did have an off night that night (I watched a fair bit of them at the time) but did a smash and grab via Hartson and the scorer Larsson. I seem to remember we missed a sitter (Cole?) early at Ewood but then after 15 or 20 minutes Nils Eric Johansson fell over the ball and Henrik scored again (In my mind it was a similar incident to Basil Rathbone allowing Gordon Strachan to score for United in a big televised FA Cup game at Ewood in the mid 80s). It was game over from that point. I did enjoy directing a minibus full of Celtic @#/? to the Reebok from Darwen that night though.

Yes he was - most Celtic fans think it was him that came out with the "It was men against Bhoys" quote when that was, in fact, captain Gary Flitcroft. Not a great time to be married into a Celtic family that..... Incidentally we played them off the park up there without creating much but they did a number on us at Ewood and were worthy winners over the two legs I thought.

We are all sad shadows of our former selves when we get into our 50s. But he is still a very good player at Blackburn Combination level, believe me!! Anyone who has ever played against an ageing ex pro will probably know what I'm talking about - they are light years ahead of us mere mortals. He's almost 53 but your point is valid mate lol.

Wolves were a poor 4th Division team at the time. Then along came Bully.....
-
I was at that game - from memory it ended up 3-0, quite a hammering. Its funny how people's memories play tricks on them. I was at that game with a lad who was a Rovers first teamer at the time and years later he swore that Steve Bull played for Wolves that night. He didn't (I think he might have been cup tied or something) but what a night for Chorley that was!
