  1. Song for Guy - Elton John
  2. As we all know, Fabrice Muamba should really be dead now. Same condition. (I have a bit of insider knowledge here as I had a heart attack on the football field at the age of 38 in Glasgow and luckily I'm still telling the tale almost 15 years later)
  3. He's a lucky, lucky boy. I'm sure he won't feel like that today but believe me he is. They have found it before it had a chance to kill him on a cricket field. Hopefully he'll get the treatment and live a relatively normal life, albeit not as an elite sportsman. Get well soon lad. This lad wasn't so lucky http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36022324
  4. Indeed. And the flip side to that was Brookline - the only time I've ever felt remotely like I did at Selhurst Park in 1989.
  5. All Tomorrow's Parties - The Velvet Underground & Nico
  6. Lol. Not sure he will ever take Jack's mantle. He could have done though, had he been a little less unlucky with injuries. I never thought I'd see a better putter than Woods but Speith looks to be......so far.
  7. It was an amazing last 9 holes and Speith's overall poor play caught up with him eventually - his miraculous putting was the only reason he was anywhere near the first page of the leaderboard, let alone several shots clear. From the TV coverage two things are crystal clear - Hazel Irvine is a brilliant anchor for the BBC, and Colin Montgomerie should be nowhere near a microphone or a camera over on Sky.
  8. The Jam - In the Street, Today
  9. I'd hate to have seen what this post looked like before you edited it TJ lol. Back on topic, I see one of the programmes that brinscall recommended above, 11.22.63, paid for a huge advertising feature in the Metro this morning. Might give it a whirl.
  10. Level 42 - Something About You
  11. The Beat - Hands Off She's Mine
  12. Boy Like a Timebomb - Noonday Underground
  13. Chuck Berry - Memphis, Tennessee
  14. Brilliant! And they are now saying it was a bleed on the skull rather than a bleed on the brain, which is also better news.
  15. Tracey Thorn - New Opened Eyes
  16. Not a row Gav, just a simple discussion about whether Morgan is fit to be captain of England. Its perfectly okay to disagree
  17. The Jam - Man in the Corner Shop
  18. No he didn't. It was the bowling coach that suggested it, along with Root himself. If you want to talk about being harsh Gav, that sub fielder slipped at the crucial moment when going for the catch, no real blame attached surely? He's a wicket keeper so should be entrusted to take a catch, surely you can't blame 'whoever made that decision', whatever the reason behind Hales being off the field? I've been far from convinced by Morgan, and I think the revitalisation of England's limited overs performances is more to do with Bayliss. Root seems to be the natural captain - probably in all formats too, though there's no great urgency to replace Cook in the test matches.
  19. The captain has to shoulder much of the blame. I don't really rate Morgan to be honest, either as a captain or a batter. One decent innings in every 7 0r 8 isn't good enough and he never really seems like a leader to me. We were 30 or 40 short today and stupidity by the Windies' top order allowed us back into it. I thought Jordan and Rashid bowled well but Stokes had a brain freeze before that last over, not helped by his captain confusing him at the last minute with a field change. But you have to doff your cap to a bloke that smacks four sixes in a row, just when he absolutely had to! Windies were not very magnanimous in victory though, and to mouth off like they did just after winning the biff, bash bosh version of cricket was pretty poor. Joe Root is different class, but he threw his wicket away just when we needed him to bat on!
  20. Oasis - She's Electric Possibly the worst lyrics ever written
  21. Simply Red - Money's Too Tight to Mention I know he turned out to be a bit of a cock but that debut album was bloody good!
