That must have been around the same time he was interviewed for TV and radio by Paul Weller - PW said it was the only time he has ever been in awe of another artist (and he has played with just about everyone).

He was fine at no 3 before he was captain and seeing as he isn’t captain any longer he’ll be fine there again.

And yet moving him to 3 contributed to us winning the game, because Brook would likely not have scored 75 batting at 3.

A couple of pals of mine played in the Weller band that supported Blur at Wembley Stadium at the weekend. One of them is a Bristol Rovers fan and we regularly have a bit of footie banter. His latest is “I’ve played at the ‘new’ Wembley before Blackburn Rovers have”. 😨 Weller has big bollocks for not playing a ‘greatest hits’ set in that situation, which is one of the many things that sets him apart from his peers in this observer’s opinion. ✊🏻💥

They are very stubborn. That is the kindest thing I can think of to say about Foakes’s omission.

Chris Woakes is a terrific cricketer in English conditions. It has been a magnificent series so far and both teams deserve immense credit. There’s hardly been a dull moment.

The difficulty for England today will be when the Aussies start the short pitched stuff. Unless they attack it will dry the runs up, which could lead to frustration, but it will tire out the bowlers, and there is more than enough time left in the game to just play normally and punish the bad ball. It’s still a lightning quick outfield so there will be full value for good shots. The ‘Bazball’ approach is what has put us in a position to play normally and win the game from here, as it has moved the game along and given us plenty of time. Absolutely no need for any gung ho approach today.

There’s still another day after that though to be fair, so plenty of time really. If they start bowling the short stuff, leave it alone. Duckett needs to live up to his name this time.
