  1. Problem is that it will be his '1st half' when he comes on. Still it would be worth it if he comes on and smacks the winner from 30 meters out like has a couple of times.
  2. All in all, it's great to have a sense of confidence and security that the goalkeeper can do his job. I've not felt this good since.........maybe Robinson when he first signed, or Friedel.
  3. I always thought he deserved a chance at this level after seeing him at Coventry, and knowing how much my one time season ticket holding friend rated him. To be top scorer in the division for a few seasons whilst the whole club has no idea which ground it'll play in, managers are coming and going, and the fans are in revolt against the owners must count for something. Just think, as JacknOry said, Newcastle could have saved £60m+ on strikers by not buying Joelinton, Carroll and Almiron and having Armstrong and Toney.
  4. I saw the score at 1-1 at my break at work deep in the second half, and expected another drab draw. It was a good surprise to see the result from the sort of game we'd expect to lose in the 91st minute.
  5. I was disappointed to read James Randi died in October. He was a magician and campaigned against fake psychics, and those con men who claimed to be preachers.
  6. Dubois vs. Joyce is more relevant and will probably be better. I think that's on tonight as well.
  7. It's from Athletico Mince, a Bob Mortimer podcast.
  8. Derby will have top advice should they need to replace the carpets then.
  9. Not as weird as seeing your sister on every game show going! She's been on several including The Chase, Impossible and that one with that Scottish lesbian midget. She's probably been on even more that I will remember later.
  10. If we look like we have no realistic chance of promotion with about 12 games to go, then it is definitely bye bye Tony, if not a bit sooner.
  11. I'm not really impressed with this. We have plenty of mediocre midfielders, or youngsters trying to establish themselves in the team so an old player wasting wages isnot what we need. What can he offer that Johnson, Buckley, Chapman, Lyons, Evans, Bennett.......... can't?
  12. From the tiny bit of a play off game I saw, it was so far better than the Super League has been. No wonder why Australia win almost every League world cup when we get their rejects and insist on only passing twice at the most until the 3rd or 4th tackle.
  13. Talking of league, I've watched a couple of recent games, and it is crap in this hemisphere. So often it is one pass to a big lad until the 4th tackle, and then get inventive. I saw one NRL game, with the eels playing the Rabbitohs, and there was more excitement and innovation in the 20 minutes I caught than the last few superleague games I've seen.
  14. I, and my sister's got JPR Williams' autograph at the Hong Kong 7s one year. My mum is from Pontypridd, so she recognised him as a Welsh legend, but we were too young and naive to realise how great he was. Going up and asking was a bit awkward as we didn't really know who he was. My mum used to sometimes see Barry John in a coffee shop when she was skiving off school with her friends.
  15. The RFU have just declared that the season for the 3rd tier and below are now cancelled for this season. That'll mean quite a few clubs will go under. As for the game, I expect a thrashing with what we've got on the pitch.
  16. Has Fury mentioned who he will fight in December?
  17. Our results are absolutely bipolar at the moment, but I expect another high scoring loss. Under Mowbray we can't beat in form teams or favourites for promotion.
  18. Barton is a c--t, a nobody as a manager and a Roy Keane wannabe. He'll be found out in time as another blow hard out of his depth and will crash and burn. One day the mask of sanity will slip and he'll have stabbed a player on the training ground or punched an opposing manager (again) and go back to prison.
  19. Nope, it will only encourage them.
  20. Been in Coventry for about 4 or 5 years now. They were at Wycombe, and about 1 hour from extinction, then someone bought them and moved them to Coventry as the Ricoh was up for sale, and no stadiums in London were.
  21. A very long story Exiled Rover. In short, Wasps own it after buying out the two owners (the council and a charity called the Alan Highs trust). The owners of City tried to buy one half of it using some holding/shell company that was going into receivership. Then they fell out with Wasps and refused to pay the rent when the contract was up. There's been court cases, speculative talk of other sites (e.g. the now abandoned speedway track) but nothing has ever happened.
  22. Not missing that much. The Ricoh, where they used to play is near a scrap yard and a load of warehouses. And before that Highfield Road was slap bang in the middle of Hillfields, where the prozzies and drug dealers hang out.
  23. I want Coventry City to do well, but I hope we win 10-0 now.
  24. It's a must win game already, as a loss could mean another of those long winless runs that end the season.
  25. Pretty much my view. The new players might provide the extra 10% needed to win games like this and Cardiff. It's annoying to lose in the last few minutes, but the season is long. Let's see how the new players fit in.
