  1. I didn’t say he hasn’t, what I said was the media scrutiny was very intense. Gordon no doubt had experienced that at Everton so was somewhat prepared for it. Adam hasn’t experienced intense scrutiny From the wider media thus far. He’s flown under the radar in the wider football world of casual and lad bible readers, and I think the move to CP allows him to continue to do so.
  2. Not looked into what Flecks injuries are but I’m going to guess muscular, which could be a sign the intensity of the Prem is too much. All conjecture on my part, not knowing his injury history but if they’re muscular you’d hope he’s signed being currently fit to play and that the less intense pace (in comparison) of the championship might help him. who knows, if he stays fit I think he’s a good addition.
  3. The more I think about it the more I think CP is a very shrewd move for Adam. They’ve got a brilliant recent record of trusting young players in the X1 and giving them a platform to be expressive. The move also attracts much less scrutiny and pressure than say moving to a Newcastle, admittedly different fees but Gordon had a torrid time in the media following his move. Adam won’t suffer that I don’t expect, he can go about his business and continue to develop while testing himself in one of the toughest/best leagues in the world. I think the fee is maybe 5ml short of what I’d hoped/expected (25ml +) but then we’ve obviously found ourselves in a position where we’re begging from Peter to pay Paul
  4. I’m well chuffed with Fleck, the midfield has been crying out for more experience and protection. He brings both in spades and a bit of much needed bite to boot. I’m interested to see how the shape looks over the next few games. 4-2-3-1 seems the most obvious with Fleck and Tronstad as the 2. Although I wonder if he seems Garret sitting with Tronstad and Fleck as the 3 giving extra protection in the advanced 3. With Dolan and Sam returning there is a lot of competition for forward places now, given that Sammie is a guaranteed starter. When Hedges comes back it could be really tight. Shame Leonard didn’t get a loan as I can now see him spending a lot of time in the 23’s or getting 5 mins at the end of a game which won’t aid his development
  5. He’s hardly going to open up with “they’re a rank average 12-15th in the table every year but give me an opportunity to play games and make a big step up” is he
  6. He was on a season long loan at Liege, seems weird they'd recall him and not have anything lined up.
  7. yep, it would be highly unlikely and totally out of step with how transfers are structured for the one thing that gets paid upfront is the loyalty bonus of the person agreeing to leave......... (again no blame toward Adam but he is signing a contract to leave)
  8. To be fair the vast majority of meltdown and drama was on here, we have no idea what it actually looked like or what the problems were/weren't within the inner machinations of the club! History would point to it being incompetence/V's interference or a combination of both but we just don't know
  9. To be fair he looks in good nick, bet he'd do a job still
  10. Being taken the piss out of by a fan of a ‘soccer’ franchise. New depths plumbed
  11. The mid flight thing doesn't really add up, considering it's usually pretty difficult to contact people mid flight.
  12. whoa whoa whoa, don't go throwing around a reasonable explanation, we want wild speculation and hystrionics!
  13. There are a hell of a lot of pretty wild assumptions being made here, for example it's as likely to be a haggle over triggering wage increases for England appearances as it is Adam not wanting to leave Rovers.
  14. Nailed on Tronstad wins players player this year. He’s a pro’s dream teammate.
  15. Danny Batth has only made 9 apps this season, 5 from the bench so not sure we missed out on a right lot there to be honest.
  16. We’ve been crying out for a bit of a nasty bastard both on the pitch and around the training ground for ages. MacFazdean adds this, more than anything he might give a few a chasing and a kicking in training. His aggression from set pieces in training alone would do this group the world of good.
  17. If Adam is unhappy enough about leaving then he doesn’t sign a contract with CP. Nobody has a gun to his head, let’s not get into hysterionics and paint a picture of the lad being frog marched at gunpoint into the PL and 50k a week. I’m sure he would like to stay until the end of the season but liking in an ideal world and reality of the football industry are 2 very different things
  18. Not the move we all thought he'd get first off but then I can see the attraction, at CP he plays every week rather than being loaned out or back playing U23 football. We know how good he is but I just don't see him playing at Brighton, Newcastle, etc at this stage, not down to ability but down to the competition and conservative nature of PL clubs.
  19. We've dodged a bullet there, I've mentioned before that I follow Celtic (family) so watch most the games. Phillip's has been a disaster for Celtic, up there with the debacle that was Shane Duffy. His final game against Killie was as bad as I've seen and he had a proper stinker against Hibees.
  20. Think it was the other way around, to help Arsenal with FFP. They can put the Raya purchase into next cycles figures, I remember them talking about it on the Athletic Tactics Podcast recently.
  21. I see Waggot and Fraser Read have acknowledged (to some extent) they got it wrong on ST and looking at them coming down, also stating they viewed Watford as a success but took less money than normal. I find that hard to believe to be honest given the numbers that were there.
  22. I think this is a really good and often ignored point re Adam. He’s wonderful with the ball however the gaps he leaves in midfield are criminal. Given the risky nature of the way he plays, he needs to develop his awareness of the impact of losing possession/not covering certain areas. For someone who sees a pass so well going forward he’s not great (or not bothered) at reading the game defensively.
  23. I’m rubbish with link on here, it’s on the radio lancs sport Twitter page, it’s about 4 1/2 mins long
