[Archived] Match review: Rovers 4 Man City 2
USABlue replied to rover6's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I would guess it will be more like they will be feeling quite chuffed with the point, scoring two. We will relax feeling all good about our selves with the "only played Thursday and travelled" excuse being cited for a horrible performance. -
Ouch! Not sure how much I trust Neild either, I see he's off on his campaign of Hughes for Man U again.
-
So Sparky is blinkered and doesn't understand the game. Should you tell Mr William or do I. Mark Hughes does not seem like a man who plays things that way, seems like a straight up front sort of bloke to me. So I doubt he would leave out what is best for the team just because of ego or such. There may be behind the scenes disciplinary issues, or some other thing we are not privvy to.

Sorry must have clicked the wrong thread, I thought this was the game thread. Had not realised it wa the "neill's a prick, no he's not" thread. What happened did Lucas drop a clanger tonight? Apology accepted Rev, don't think it was you that drew it off thought. Anyway, good result, I feared the worst. As some had mentioned buggar to give away the late goal but shoe in the other foot we'd be happy.

[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
USABlue replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
You may have hit on something there. I wonder, is it just coincidence that Dunn expresses an interest in coming home shortly after Rovers announce the switch to Hollands Pies? -
John, I am sure at some point you said something nice about Bellamy so I'll leave him out. On Kuqi and Dickov, can you show me one of your old posts where you praised them for their efforts last season or was you with the majority and slammed them constantly. I've always found it amusing how the moaners find players to get better once they have gone. For pity's sake we are 4 games in we have not had the opportunity for a consistent line up, at least give the new lads time to gel a bit, bloody hell there was even an international break so they could not even train together. Okay Okay, Portsmouth one might cite, don't worry their bubble will burst.

Looked at the league table this am, sort of puts things in a bit of perspective. Portsmouth, who we played poorly against and got hammered are second and have yet to concede. Everton, we drew with at home, are third and have thumped both Spurs and Liverpool. Chelsea, who we lost to but deserved something from the game are fourth. Is there really any need for all the negativity yet. We are on the same points as Arse, are their fans fearing the drop?
-
Answer the man's question. Do you prefer the new boys to the players listed? Your other point, yes. Squad depth, if you're paying for 'em you may as well have ones that can play. How exactly, we lost Bellers and Kuqi and Dickov. With the exception of Bellers we did more than enought to cover those two leaving, ah screw it, why bother. Let's see where we go, then you can tell me we had a horrible window. Is Bellamy the step forward and back you are referring to or is there more?

"I'm here for the long haul" Craig Bellamy, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Februaryish 2006. July 2006 he signs for his boyhood favourites, Liverpool. -
I don't know that Rovers are "knowingly" singled out. I think our "bully boy" rep, along with some players historys, precedes us and refs tend to assume certain things and be a tad bit quick to pull us up. What is abundantly clear to me though is that there IS a clear favouritism toward the upper echelon teams. I watch many Manu, Chelski, Arse and L'pool games. In these I see game after game after game and I notice incidents that those teams players get away with that one just knows we would have been jacked up for. It's sickening, it spoils the game in general do those money bags teams with the large talented squads really need anymore help.

Kuqi, 2.5 Mill, never can tell can you. Does anyone have any reports on how Dunny is doing in the Dingle Division. Is he playing regularly? is he playing well? -

If I have to explain then you still would not understand, hashed it all out a million times before. Fundamentals. He has improved dramatically since Sparky's team arrived if you can't see that then.... Or your easy option, just figure that I don't know a monkeys. Having seemingly joined only recently you will have missed my points (make that opinions). Yeah golden boy our Brad. -

My thoughts in a nutshell really. MGP must be benched, been saying it a looong time now so I will keep on about it. Don't understand why Gally did not even get a kick. As Rev mentioned our lack of chances created is alarming and very worriesome. Bentley looked the most likely of anyone to provide anything, the lad can cross a ball well, we should be taking advantage of that. Jeffers had good run out, was more effective than Roberts by a mile IMHO. We have no service to the front of any quality, tap the ball around nicely at the back and in the middle but there is a disticnt lack of going for the jugular MGP is a weak link here too, a luxury we can not afford right now, I'd prefer Gally pr even Peters more direct style at the mo'. What can I say about Big Brad, being one of his FORMER critics at times, I must hold my hand up and say that, the two great penalty saves apart, his whole round game has improved immensely. Positioning, coming for the ball all the stuff that make a keeper a great, it's good to see. Perhaps hidden behind the penalty saves was the superb reflex save at the death. -

I thought it was Zura the penalty was called on? Correct. I thought Zurab had rather a good game today. -
Not cos he was crap, cos he was too hard for Souness.

'S funny, I thought the we are going down crew would wait until after the Sheffield game. Looked capable at Liverpool season before last, did not see much of him at Wigan last season so I'd best just keep me gob shut.

Smacks of a no win situation here, proved by some of the easy win predictions on here. We win it's all well we should beat that shower, we lose and the we are going down crew will have their knives well and truly sharpened. As per usual I will offer no prediction other than I expect a hard fought Lancs-Yorks contest. -
Bit like Gamst for us.
-
I would be very happy if he signs also, but only for the reason that we can perhaps make more money from him leaving. Sorry but Neill has shown his hand, if he signs we all know why, it'd be best we cash in on that also. Perhaps Hughes can pesuade him to sign with that in mind, loyalty to the club that put him on the football map and all that.

I'm a bit undecided on this one, a part of me says yes it would be good the lad does have some talent, another part of me says let's leave the past in the past. Is there any confirmation that Sparky was interested or is it just rumour, somehow I don't see Huges wanting to move backwards. A clean break from the past is what I think he wants. Could Dunny even handle Sparky's training regimen? He had some brilliant moments for sure. -
