[Archived] Preseasons - UK Ones

Tickets for the Grimsby game are a tenner, five for concessions. The game will be segregated and Rovers fans will be behind the goal. k/o is 7:30. -

she goes for the lookers then -
The controlled explosion in Leeds was on the next street from me. Seems odd to think there was a bomb making factory down the road. The lad from Beeston went to my Uni too - i'd not be surprised if theres a few more of that group of lads that are involved in similar things.

Is the game against Grimsby likely to be segregated? I would have thought they will need to open more than the one stand (the thin one, name escapes me). -
Toshiba dont appear to sell that model in the UK, or use a different name/numbering system.

No in fairness you are wrong there andy. Apart from Scotty who as everybody knows is just plain ignorant I'd say the others are divided 50:50 between people with similar outlooks to myself and people who are diametrically opposed but who are mature and intelligent enough to discuss and debate in a proper manner...... (Paul took quite a bit of training though but he's 'come to' a bit recently ) 325481 Fair enough, ive not met any of them, just going on what i have picked up from here. In that case, yeah, so long as Scottys not the spokesperson, sign me up! Also get the club to back it so that any member doesnt have to go through the database for tickets? Is this possible? I know some smaller clubs do this. -

Spot on. You hit the nail on the head...in other words you don't feel valued by the club and/or fellow supporters? 325446 Not so much the club, although getting the third degree to get an away ticket is a joke. More the supporters, im sick of being told my opinion on a player/shirt/club decision is invalid because a visit to Ewood to hear people moan in a lancs accent rather than a yorks one means beans on toast for three weeks. Didnt think about the confidentiality thing with the names, doh! -

1) Theno.. - if he wanted to stand for election to a post, then he is welcome to as would be any member of the ISA. (there may have to be a mechanism around proposing and seconding etc dependant on numbers) 2) Those who dont reside in lancs.. - theres already a large number of people involved in the isa who have similar circumstances (Tris, Glenn, Scotty, Kiwiwannabe). Its difficult at present to involve foreign supporters in the setup meetings, but its certainly on the agenda how we gain that representation. Other than that we need to stress that this isnt a messageboard thing, its just that the people who thought it up happened to be members and its an easy place to discuss things whilst its in an embryonic state. 325445 Cool. Can you not use real names when connected with BRISA then, rather than messageboard names? -

Looking at that list of names, i understand these intentions, you guys all seem to be a tight knit group who enjoy ripping the p*ss out of theno and a couple of others. I would certainly not be interested until i felt that the group was slightly more representative of Rovers fans 325433 What would you need, to be assured of that Andy? 325438 I certainly think that you need to have at least one foreign based member at the forefront (i dont understand exactly when the 'driving group' becomes a 'council'), as well as maybe a couple of names that arent messageboard celebrities. Otherwise someone that is very opinionated but outspoken - someone like Theno wuld be good, just to show the rest of us that you are actually taking suggestions from all angles seriously - One of the biggest thing i feel is putting supporters off this club is the fact that those of us who don't reside in Lancs or don't go to every home game are regularly made to feel incredibly guilty for our circumstances. You wouldnt get that at a club like Man Utd or Liverpool! -
better that than fat loudmouth english girls though

The final looks interesting - do i support my country, or the Norweigans, who have a couple of rather tasty young things on their side

since the play offs, when i'd just moved to England. landed a free ticket for the final with my uncle, who was rooting for Leicester to lose. Highlights for me have been Notts Forest and Liverpool away in the premiership season, shearer remembering me (i was about 13!), watching us dominate a couple of yorkshire tams in div1, and the end of season run in a couple of years back when we finished sixth. Lowest points have been Ray Harford, Brian Kidd, The Grabbi saga (i honestly believed he would be great) and the Moscow incident. Ive never been a season ticket holder, and further to that i think i've been to more away games every season than home games. When i go to a home game i make sure its Bolton or Man City (for the atmosphere), or (wishful thinking maybe) a european tie. I go to every game they play in Yorkshire, which unfortunately now is a rarity, but i cant really afford to get to many more than that, if i ever was in the position to afford a season ticket, i'm afraid i'd move back to Germany and go and watch Bayern. English footballs just too expensive for the atmosphere (unless your in a crowded away end) -

I don't think the big question is really the finance inolved (which clearly is a gamble, but how much of one?), but Glazers understanding of European football, its fans and the media issues suppporting it. If the English red tops are on his side, he will do well. Does anyone know if any of the Glazers have any kind of business relaitonship (or a personal friendship) with Murdoch? Would have thought they would of done (illuminati or something lol), but if this much bad press is occuring in Britain.... -

Seen, i should of mentioned that i don't really like laptops ( hell, if i was going to spend £900 quid on a portble pc id buy a mini atx board and build something far studier, more upgradable and far more robust). My dell hell has come from the desktops, and their business practices relating to desktops (and upgrading them) for personal users (i admit i've dealt with them on a business level, although it wsn't my choice, and they were pretty impressive). The biggest problems were overclocking machines and psu incompatibilty, as you asked (and more so the way they tried to get me to pay to have unnessesary work done on my pc when i contacted them about it).
-
you can upgrade any part of it, so long as you get dell to do it. i tried to 'mix and match' a dell and another machine. bad move.
-
i couldnt give a stuff about supporting the English, but i'm glad the underdogs won. Was at goals soccer centre, our game finished 2 mins before end of extra time and we ran over to see the penalties faster than we ran the whole game we'd just played.
-
Dell are scum. Soooooo hard to upgrade their machines.
-
Powerbook hands down if your willing to pay for the software and put up with occasional apple bulls**t (my mates media player updated itself, now he cant get it on fullscreen without purchasing the 'pro' version.) Sony vaios were pretty crappy, two of my housemates use them (1 tower, 1 laptop) and they seem to have a lot of difficulty where networkings concerned (as opposed to the pcs ive built we use on the network, or my other housemates cheapo laptop). dunno what the newer ones are like, my guess may be they just look nicer and have better screens, Sony love to make their computer/console equipment shoddy but more user friendly (ie. playstation) dunno if it applies in France as well but all my mates got £150 off their powerbooks for being students- you have to download a form apples site or a uni computer or something though....
-
what flopsy said, but don't buy a dell if your using it for audio or vsiual editing those Apple powerbooks are very nice, a lot of my mates are on media/art related courses and swear by them.
-
maybe they counted most of 'em as off target shots nah seriously it always strikes me as he leaves it too late for the cross and then gets into trouble, when he manages a cross they are not too bad, theres just no-one at the end of them.
-
i dont want Sheff Wed going up, will be very nice for Scunthorpe Utd fans (where i used to live, used to watch a few games here and there) if they have four games next season against them and forest.
-
Spot on. Have a Citeh supporting mate who won't reapply for his season ticket unless Wright Phillips stays/ Musampa signs. I cant usually afford to pay for ewood games only to get thrown out for refusing to sit, but im hoping to come over tomorrow night for this, Super Atko in a Rovers shirt again....
