Stoke City v Rovers (a) Sat. 19th Dec. 3pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Poor, but most worryingly not surprising. We know we have the players to do better, but too many are badly used. Gallagher isn’t a winger etc. Poor, really poor. -
Bristol City v Rovers. Wed 9th Dec. 7.45pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Unlucky. We played very well, just one of those nights. -
I’ve been very impressed by the ifollow service this season. Commentary team is good and unlike the red button option there are replays. It would be interesting to know the sign up figures.

Brentford (A) - Saturday 5.12.20
JPTSwindon replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Like midweek, vital points that will make all the difference as the season progresses. Good result under normal circumstances and a very good result as events unfolded. Gutted for Wharton who has had to work for his chance, which he has grabbed. -
Rovers v Millwall. Wed 2nd Dec 7.45pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Great 3 points. I know there were some grumbles but Millwall have had a decent season, we aren’t going to roll over every team. This is a tight division, we had to battle and we’ve taken the 3 points. Key for me is the depth of the squad. With the games coming thick and fast, injuries and being able to using subs to either tweak the system (tonight) or rest key players (Preston) we have so many options. -
Nobbers v Rovers, Tues 24 Nov 7.45pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Quality... absolute quality. Dominated, entertained and crucially delivered. Everyone played their part, but special mentions to: Wharton, again deserves the run on merit, lively throughout. Nyambe, lost his place to JRC but upped his game. Bereton, chases everything a repeatedly won the ball. Gallagher, gutted his performance wasn’t sealed with the 4th goal. Kaminski, Football Manager 21 is right, he is a Sweeper Attack keeper! Dolan, freebie... ouch, that will hurt PNE fans. Douglas, previous games passed him by, but tonight was class. Rothwell, quiet then Gazza spark, game won! With fixtures coming thick and fast good to see decent game time for the squad players. Great night! -
Luton Town v Rovers Sat 21st Nov. 3pm

Though we both start with a ‘B’... so basically the same ? -
Luton Town v Rovers Sat 21st Nov. 3pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Decent match, fine margins - probable clear penalty. Positives. Kaminski has added confidence, Wharton is taking his chance (good loan experience paying off), Rothwell is immense through the middle and credit to the team we didn’t fold when they scored. Away point, that’s fine. -

Roy Wegerlie versus Coventry City... one for the 90’s fans. Mind you they did sign him despite that. -

Great performance and three much needed and well deserved points. Credit to Wharton who stepped up and showed the benefit of his decent loan spells. He will be gutted that the break may allow time for others to return as he did enjoy for another chance. We look so much better with Rothwell (supported by Johnson) driving through the middle. Like Rothwell, Bereton has benefitted from a proper run of games in the same position. Having players with the confidence to run with the ball makes all the difference. Hard to believe Elliott is only 17, looks like he is loving his time at Rovers. That said his corners and set pieces weren’t clicking today, I’d have let Buckley take some as his strength is accuracy. Armstrong, goals, goals and only 23! Yes only 12th, but plenty of football yet with teams up and down - look at Reading sinking etc. Good times! -
Drab, miserable, morale sapping defeat. Too many of the squad signings not up to scratch. Poor.

Rovers vs Reading at Virtual Ewood
JPTSwindon replied to Lancs Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Plenty of positives. Plenty of bad luck. Plenty of frustrating tactical decisions... Gallagher is not a winger!!! Dear God, why is he still appearing on the wing. Douglas, Pears and the Norwich lad don’t seem an improvement. Mind you we are entertaining to watch and I am sure we will kick on. -
Watford v Rovers Wed 21st Oct 7.45pm
JPTSwindon replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Cor blimey... Real missed opportunity. We miss Rothwell in the middle and dare I say Williams at CB. Plenty of positives, but we soon need plenty of points or this season will drift. Need a result against Coventry. Also sucked that I had to pay £10 as I am away from home and you can’t access the red button via Sky Go! -
Cardiff (H) - Saturday 3rd October 2020
JPTSwindon replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Okay, whilst disappointed it was not raining goals, Cardiff are a decent, well organised side and often in recent seasons you’d have expected them to nick a winner - much, much better at the back. Weather didn’t help, but there was enough to show progress - roll on Forest after the international break. Gallagher is a liability and doesn’t fit the system. He is a target man, who I am sure could produce for more direct teams, but that isn’t us. -
Another fantastic result! Rothwell has settled in well in the middle, Dolan continues to thrive, we finally have a decent keeper and surely Bereton will find the net soon! Good times! Key for me is a settled side and players in their actual position, too often TM chopped and changed, shoe horning in players (Gallagher on the wing etc) and now we seeing the benefit.

I’d start the same XI. Show faith in a (big) winning team.
-
TBH I am relaxed if we don’t see much more movement. Club revenue is going through the floor, so I’d rather we weren’t overstretched as some clubs are going to struggle to carry - let it not be us.

Rovers vs. Wycombe - 19th Sept, 3pm
JPTSwindon replied to J*B's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Fantastic!!! A complete performance and one that was coming after (very) positive signs in the first two matches. Dolan is a hell of a find, and lots of exciting prospects backing him up. ?????? -
Family member is a Boro season ticket holder. Reckons he is one of the best defenders in the league, but a glass ankle, so enjoy until the pitch hardens.

Newcastle United away in the League Cup
JPTSwindon replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Watched this with a Newcastle supporter who couldn’t believe we didn’t win. On the plus side, dominated, created chances and on other days we’d get the win. That said we lost, no doubt a dent to confidence after 2 defeats. Kaminski 6 - Quiet game, maybe could have done better with the goal. Quick and positive on the distribution. Nyambe 7 - Solid, enthusiastic performance. Lenihan 6 - Okay. Williams 7 - I was impressed, he looked to push forwards from the back, cut out an early chance, but did fluff 3 chances from corners. Bell 6 - First touch slowed down some counter attacks. Travis 6 - Okay. Holtby 6 - Okay, snatched at a couple of chances. Rothwell 8 - He grew into the game and kept driving forwards. Took his chance tonight. Rankin-Costello 6 - Okay. Dolan 7 - Exciting, positive and surely keeps his place on Saturday. Brereton 6 - Battled, gave everything but not enough quality tonight. Subs: Chapman - Good cameo. Armstrong - Not the dream return to his home club. Buckley - Good cameo. Hate losing, but plenty of positives. 3 points on Saturday then we can kick on ?? -

Presume the streaming service that will be used will still be £10. Id swap Wharton for Williams and hope for a miracle! -
Same, I stuck with Dack for 3 seasons, but never set the world on fire - sold to Rangers. 4-2-3-1 - Positive. Armstrong was good, but often injured. Travis was good, but always sent off. Rothwell great in the Championship. Tosin and Walton I signed permanently when we went up, though then dropped Walton for Jack Butland. Buckley and Tosin still with me in my 4th season. Key is to (quickly) off load the high wage squad players like Graham, Gallagher etc, plenty of capable youth players who can step in when needed.

I am torn on Wharton v Williams for the CB slot. Wharton, 2 good seasons on loan - suspect if wasn’t already ours we’d have been excited to sign a winner with decent experience. Real potential, though is he Championship quality? Williams. Same old, but to be fair solid when he covered in that position last season. Didn’t he even score, but then got injured? Hey TM May just play one of the strikers, wingers or even Fisher there anyway!
