Gallagher has provided little evidence at all of his 'striker' credentials at any point during his time here at Rovers. To a certain extent the blame for this might given to TM's previous bizarre insistence on using him as a winger, but in my mind a striker is someone who demonstrates a natural eye and instinct for goal. That just doesn't describe Sam Gallagher. His lack of other clear contributions to the team make me wonder what possessed TM to shell out £5M for him in the first place, but given the renaissance of a certain plastic-Chilean, I still hope big Sam rams all of our doubts down our collective throats for Rovers starting next time out. Meanwhile, any transfer news...?

A point here would be a decent result based on the dogshit football we've played today.

What a difference a few short months has made to our general outlook! I have to admit being one of the doomsayers as we came into the season, and my lampooning of TM as the Gurnmeister General was, on reflection, perhaps a little over the top. Having said that, I think something has clicked, and we seem to have lost tombola Tony and that gurning chump who would appear horizontal and slumbering outside the technical area throughout games... He isn't missed, and this new Mr Passion who gets booked for berating the officials is much more my cup of tea. I don't know if anyone else saw the BBC North West feature on the club this evening? I wonder if we might be on the verge of something very very interesting and life-affirming for all of us dyed in the wool / long in the tooth fans of the Mighty Blue and White Blackburn Rovers. The enigma that is Tony Mowbray...

Difficult game on Saturday, with last week's ignominious (if somewhat predictable) exit from 't Cup still fresh in the memory. I hope TM has the sense to revert as far as possible to the winning formula that has served us so well since the Fulham debacle. Even with the enforced changes, we should have the nucleus of a decent side, and combined with the new found resolve and the return of the ice-man in goal, I would hope we have enough in the tank to return at least a point from Cardiff. This is the acid-test, ladies and gentlemen. Win this and we continue to believe. Draw and we won't lose our faith. Lose, and maybe, just maybe the wobble sets in.... Hedging my bets here... 1-1 Rothwell screamer rescues a point.. COYB!! More of this kind of approach, please 🙂
