I won't pass any judgement on the players we've bought in until we've seen them play. I agree with the post above about players being written off too early. This liverpool lad for example could be Mola or he could be Hill. However what we can pass judgement on is that our already threadbare squad has been plugged with 7-8 players who won't be here next season. We've kicked the can down the road but I don't think we'll see any of the Wharton money to bolster the squad. We've had to sell Wharton to keep the lights on and in the process we've kneecapped our manager, DoF and the whole recruitment team

Rumours are we were looking to sell the canteen chairs as well but JDT blocked it cos we might need to use one to play centre mid at the weekend.

I've been one of Broughtons defenders since he came in. I think overall he's good for the club and is one of the few at the club with honest intentions. However I think if today goes how we're all fearing and he doesn't resign in disgust at twice being kneecapped in the transfer window it raises question marks over his integrity. He can walk away now with his reputation in tact and can point to two big events that has made his job untenable. JDT, I wouldn't begrudge him if he packed it all in and walked away. Part of me thinks he will stay to the end of the season but only for the players and the fans.

If this is the start £20m+ in, strengthen the squad with 4 or 5 players and one of those turns out to be our next £20m+ sale rinse and repeat - then I am more the happy with the sale - albeit I'm gutted not to see Wharton develop and get a few more games here first. However! I'm just not confident that's how it's going to pan out. As an aside, some of the venky defenders are saying they support us and give us a Cat1 academy, but since they took over I reckon its turned a profit and paid for itself. With Jones, Wharton, Raya, Phillips etc that's plenty in

It's a shame that we've got a youngster on a long deal who wants to stay we could have got a lot more in say 18 months time for him but that just shows where the club is right now. Atleast he's done his best to maximise the return we get for him unlike Phillips.
