  1. That's unfair - some of them were expensive.
  2. I don't for a second beleive Dack didn't want that. Hirst must have been the designated penalty taker at that point. Weird
  3. If it was a weak spot I'm sure they would have addressed it by now - atleast bought decent cover. Maybe the more defensively minded Gomez would have played there more often. I'm sure if Klopp thought trippier was better, he could have gone and got him over the years. It's all too easy to point out the times he's missed a header or not put a foot in and then ignore the moments of brilliance where he's unlocked teams with audacious passes. I'd say Liverpool are still in profit from him.
  4. interesting on the TAA debate. I still think though there are times where trent switches off defensively, lets the ball go over his head, doesn't stick a foot in etc
  5. I'm a Southgate fan but one thing that does bug me is a reluctance to try anyone else. I can see the benefit of playing your preferred team so that they get minutes playing together but at the same time I'm sick of seeing Kane get 90 mins in meaningless games.
  6. James is great going forward and defensively sound as well. Peak TAA going forward is better than James but won't get in the team due to being defensively lax.
  7. Pickford has never let England down. There's one or two players who are completely different for England than they are with their club. Pickford is one of them.
  8. There always seems to be a 17 year old player called Sessegnon
  9. I totally have this with Jay McEveley. He was on LMA manager 2003 as an OK youngster and I still think he must be a player in his early 20s trying to find his feet somewhere
  10. I'm not sure I get the Grealish hype. I think he'll be one who's turning out for everton in 3 years time after a disappointing stint with City.
  11. I think this is my point, I'd take Owen and Rooney over Kane (just) - but Kane has outperformed both by a long stretch on the international stage. Same with most of the 11, I'd take 04 over the current squad (mostly) on paper but the current crop have outperformed 04 by a mile and Gareth has to take credit for that.
  12. Right back yes and keeper is probably better. Kane vs Owen / Rooney in their prime - I'd take Owen at his best and I'd take and 18-20 year old Rooney over Kane.
  13. Depth absolutely, strength no. Starting XI player for player 04 squad is significantly better
  14. The majority of the squad had a shocking season for their club after the Euros final. Southgate cant carry the blame for that. Faultless? No. Time for a change? No. I would have waited till after this WC to give him a new contract though
  15. It's certainly no surprise to anyone that BRFCS is one of the most negative football forums out there? If a player misplaces a pass he's written off and Rovers relegated to conference North. England are in a rough patch but in international football you judge the team on how they perform at tournaments. This squad and manager have out performed any in my lifetime and the counter arguments to that are 1. Look at the players he's had at his disposal - on paper I'd have the euro 04 squad with maybe Kane being the only one in contention to break into the squad. 2. Look at the runs he's had - we had to get past Germany in the knockouts rather than Iceland in 2016 The quality of player we have available has surely been overhyped as well and as someone else said Gareth does well at making the whole better than the sum of its parts. Half the squad get pillared week in week out for their club by English press and fans, yet are suddenly considered world class and expected to walk every tournament going when on international duty
  16. I'd stay with 3 at the back, gives us some defensive cover where we've been weak for years. Gives the opportunity to get TAA in the side who's attacking output could be crucial but is defensively weak. He can get away with it in a 4 at Liverpool (although is being called out a bit now) but not with England. Bellingham and Rice as the midfield two is a better option than rice and Phillips as well.
  17. Must have been watching you in WDWY😉
  18. Played 9 lost 4 and in 3rd place. I don't understand this league but I'll take it
  19. I think he played a handful of other games but it certainly wasn't many. Unluckily for him he was behind someone who never missed a game
  20. Jason Brown goalkeeper came on at half time vs wigan for an injured friedel and got man of the match made some cracking saves
  21. 7-13th and that's where we'll stay for the majority of the season
  22. Yeah he's made an arse of himself but calls for him to be sacked for expressing an opinion are ludicrous. Should be sacked because he is a shite at his job
  23. When my grandad died, someone I actually cared about, what helped me was sacking work off for the day and going out and doing recreational activities. It appears we're being told the correct way to grieve is to do the opposite - go to work but don't you dare go to the football. Surely a minutes silence, national anthem and other such tributes would have been a better way to honor her rather than individually shutting ourselves away with our thumbs up our arses
  24. Agreed its ludicrous. I get that it's a massive deal and people will be genuinely mourning but why do we have to force it upon everyone? Will I be in mourning whether I like it or not? We'll only cancel recreational activities though - work can go ahead as planned.
