  1. I'm hoping JDT saying there will be 3 means there's 3 that are near enough dead certs but there's a 4th / 5th bonus one that may or may not come off. I think we need CB - Hyam RB cover Striker An absolute bastard - probably most effective as a CM
  2. Blimey your glass is half empty isn't it?
  3. So which is it? The squad has been decimated with 12 outgoings or there is a solid foundation? Both seem contradictory to me If you can list magloire and Davenport as an outgoing I can have Markanday as an incoming. How is that not a factor to be considered? Last seasons squad didn't have Dack or Marakanday available. This seasons squad does.
  4. 12 out 3 in is misleading. We lost: JP Van Hecke Ryan Nyambe Darragh Lenihan Ryan Giles Zeefuik Brad Johnson Joe Rothwell Reda Khadra That's 8 players These players left Jacob Davenport - never played even when the squad was stretched beyond beleif Ian Poveda - injured all season Harry Chapman - never played Tyler Magloire - never played and I've seen people say they'd rather play with 10 James Brown - one game in a dead rubber match That's 5 players that have left with no negative impact on squad strength imo We've brought in, or now have as options Brittan Smod Morton Carter Phillips Wharton Garret Vale Markanday That's more like 8 out 8 / 9 in. 3 or 4 quality additions over the next week and I'd say we've plugged the gaps. I didn't expect much more from the window there was a lot to do to make this a JDT squad. When he arrived the squad had loads of gaps to fill, I think it was a big ask to fill those gaps AND upgrade the players we did have to the high pressing high energy type player. Too much to do in one window especially when we've got a new structure starting from a standing start several weeks behind the other clubs. I know we'd all like it done in one window but maybe it might take more than one window? TM and Co have poisoned words such as 'project' and 'journey' and I'm not advocating another 5 year build to nothing but there's surely some middle ground between that and expecting an instant overhaul and promotion within 12 months. TM left the squad in a state, I was resigned (but not happy about) us having a midtable finish. Anything else would be a bonus.
  5. Why does everyone seem to think Poveda is a player that needs replaced?
  6. This is the bit that doesn't tally up for me with all the consoiracy theories that fly around. Venkys as far as I'm concerned are incompetent and irresponsible. None of it is deliberate, they're not trying to run the club like a shit show, they just can't run a football club. Quite what they'd get out of deliberately mismanaging the club I didn't know especially as it costs them 10s of millions each year
  7. Exactly. Players dismissed before a ball is even kicked. I remember the bitching and moaning last year when we signed van hecke...
  8. "The good news is I can't see any issues with your prostate. The bad news is I'm the janitor"
  9. When the prostate exam comes make sure you can't see both hands...

  11. Odds on the links only thread making it to 2 pages?
  12. Simon Jordan said if £60m is the offer for Gordon then drive him to Chelsea now before someone wakes up and realises what's happening
  13. Sorry just finished them, it'll be about 1030 tomorrow morning before I can get pics
  14. 5 MINIUTE WARNING... ...till my sausage rolls are ready for lunch. Any transfer gossip today?
  15. I would wet myself laughing if united didn't take 3 points here.
  16. Thought that second looked offside all day long
  17. Think there's been a harsh stance on Broughton from some. We hadn't appointed a manager until clubs were back in pre season training. By the time the manager had had a look at the squad, most teams were well underway in their transfer activity. On the transfer front it was a standing start very late on in the summer at a club where we've got a restrictive wage structure and hurdle after hurdle to sign players at the best of times. It's no wonder we've not bought in all the bodies we need just yet. We've kept our cards close to our chest this summer and nothing has come from the club regarding incoming until its pretty much a done deal. Right now we could have 5 signings on the cusp we could have 0 so I'll wait and see what happens.
  18. He sounds like a switched on lad. Want a loan clause in there and he plans to study a degree alongside playing makes me think he's got his head screwed on.
  19. I never realised they were in FFP trouble. They don't seem to splash the cash and they've sold big over the years. Meanwhile united can spunk 300k a week on benchwarmers
  20. 4 is dangerous imo. You don't want to rinse ayala twice a week all season so the third choice is going to get a alot of games even if Ayala stays fit. Ayala will get injured and then all it takes is a niggle and / or suspension to Wharton / Carter and Phillips is being asked to play week in week out in a season where we should be introducing him slowly. 5 with pickering as emergency cover is the best realistic option
  21. Christ a couple of bad performances and the hysteria is off the charts! 4 wins from 6 games and the window isn't even shut yet.
  22. Which is why it's madness that people want to give him a 10k a week contract to stay
  23. If recent history is anything to go by, in 3 seasons time he will be entering the final year of his contract and we'll sell him at a discount to avoid losing him on a free.
  24. If venkys are apparently happy to lose BBD on a free why is the same not true of Phillips? Selling now is only in the interest of Spurs. Why wouldn't we hold on till January when he has 10-15 games under his belt and is potentially attracting more interest and a bidding war? Then we can lose him for the tribunal fee if that doesn't work? I know we can get the sell on clause but there's every chance he gets lost in the U23 system and released in 5 years time for nowt.
  25. With our wage structure are we really going to put him up with the top earners off the back of a couple of games? What would paying him £10-15k do to the rest of the squad? 4-5k a week more likely? (Is that what nyambe was rumoured to be on?) And whilst it's an eye watering amount at 17, it won't set him up for life. But yes, he'd be sensible to sign a pro contract now and get the protection now.
