  1. Exactly. He's had some sub appearances after 2 years out and he's written off. He could well be crocked but give him a full pre season and a run of games atleast.
  2. That's who that was! I clocked him too but couldn't for the life of me put a name to the face.
  3. Markanday Travis and Gally were the ones that stood out as actually properly interacting with JDT where as most of the rest looked either scared or disinterested. I spend most of my day being very lazy at work but when a new boss turns up it's a tuck your shirt in, give a strong handshake and a smile and pretend I'm good at small talk. That wasn't there with a lot of the squad.
  4. How many new managers / DOFs come in and say "that manager was shit, he should never have bottled it in the second half of the season"? Play the game, come in pay a compliement to the last manager and then change pretty much everything he did. Let's see how much they change at the club and that will show you how much he actually values the foundations mowbray laid. I think it's been clear the ambition is the Premier league?
  5. It feels more and more like he had an issue with Mowbray
  6. Agreed, I thought it was odd he hadn't reached out to Nyambe. That's the sort of thing you need to act fast on because there's a finite amount of time before his contract expires and its one less position off the list. Would have thought there would be more circling for him though but there doesn't seem to be the interest.
  7. Agreed it won't be for the sake of it but we don't have a huge budget and past experience we're not fast to act so maybe we can get a bit of advantage by fishing in a slightly more obscure pond that we have a bit more knowledge of - rather than competing with the rest of the championship for the same players.
  8. I imagine when he said it'll take 1 or 2 transfer windows that translates to "this window we just need bodies in next window we can get rid of some dross"
  9. Even just on paper you can see the squad is light. You don't need to watch them train to know that for example 2 of our starting CBs last season have left
  10. "Its going to take some time, it might take one or two transfer windows to get to where we want to be" Tony said 4 transfer windows didn't he? So by my reckoning the new regime is already twice as good 🤣
  11. Finally got round to watching his full interview. By the end I noticed I was watching with a smile on my face. He's saying all the right things and has the right attitude. It's probably the first appointment under venkys where there's a genuinely positive feeling around it. Lambert is probably the only other appointment that felt good at the time but that didn't feel anywhere near as positive as this. He's a young largely untested coach so of course it might not work out but if it doesn't I don't think it will be through lack of trying or effort. I'd take a midbtable mediocre season this year if we're genuinely building to something
  12. Make the most of it while you can - have a bath, pop on some aftershave and you might be on to a promise.
  13. He's meeting the squad for the first time today and rather worried his first reaction will be "Where's the rest of you?""
  14. If there was a video of TM walking past the picture of king Kenny he would have scoffed and said "premier league!!! park those dreams lads, it's not the 90s any more"
  15. Hearing him say I like to play possession football but you don't play for the sake of it, you need to play it towards the goal, create chance and score goals - huge sigh of relief, its like he'd looked up previous mowbray interviews and decided to call bullshit on it.
  16. Underneath this thread it says "hot" is that referring to the number of posts or JDT?
  17. A better version of Joe Rothwell is what we need
  18. Forden probably the best of them for end product? Southgate gets hammered but how many england players have stood up and said "pick me" with their performances this season? Bowen, Rice and James this season? (I don't know much of the lads who play abroad so may be diddling them). So of course he has to rotate the squad this summer. How many people have said "not maguire"? fair enough but if not maguire then we have to look at other options which means chopping and changing. Or would you rather he picks a centre back at random and looks at no one else? We've got depth but also a lot of players not in form so there's going to be some tinkering because the 11 or so players who got us to the final aren't doing it right now.
  19. There's a lot of England players who didn't perform last season. We're hoping for a lot of club managers getting a tune out of the England team. Marcus Rashford is the most notable. Of our Euro team Pickford was in a relegation scrap Maguire and Shaw were having a torrid time at united Stones didn't play Phillips was injured Sterling back to mediocrity Grealish off the boil Kane having a sulk for not getting his transfer Many had ok seasons but I'd say only a handful had a good season - Rice, James etc
  20. I think that'll be close to what our line up will be. The weakness there will be that we don't have the Mount that turns up for Chelsea, so when we play so many defensive players we need the attackers to be all out attack and dangerous from the off which we're not getting from Mount. Also when it's not working we need to have the balls to take Kane off and try a different option. We seem to persist with Kane when he is blowing out of his arse and not going to score if we played on for weeks. They're my two criticisms of Southgates England
  21. Like "we did warn you" can I opt in to seeing all deleted posts? Always get fomo when I turn up late.
  22. It's the League Cup of international football
  23. Stupid tournament at stupid time with an England squad, most of whom have had a poor season at club level and we treated it as a glorified friendly tournament. Horrible result but I'm not worried. In my lifetime Southgate has given us the best tournament results. England are always lacklustre between tournament buy so far Southgate has delivered when it matters.
  24. I think keep the 45 minutes as it is but when it goes to stoppage time, then turn it into stop clock system so if there's 5 mins stoppage time, it gets played. I'd also be tempted by the rugby rule of the game ends when the ball goes dead. Would add a different dynamic
