A 34 year old Lionel Messi has agreed to stay at Barcelona on a new 5 year deal at just 50%* of his previous wage.
* which was £123 million a season

I know why I dislike football more with each passing day.
He'll not be playing at the end of that 5 year contract. Instead of 2 or 3 years at his current wage they're giving him half as much for twice as long to get round the fact they've hit their salary cap.

Hope Tony will be there to do his induction
"If you go to that there Google, and type in 'Middlesbrough players past and present', then sign them up for a 3 year deal, if they're injured give them 4 cos they'll need longer to prove themselves. Then if you pull a piece of paper out this hat, that's where I'll play them all season, BTW do you want in on this housing development we're doing?"

Agbonlahor I can get on with, the others, deffo garbage.
Forgot to add Jason Cundy to my list
But then to their credit I could listen to Ali mocoist and Alan Brazil all day long. Simon Jordon I think is excellent and then there are some other cracking pundits as well. Especially on the breakfast show although I've not listened to that since I stopped commuting over a year ago.

Not TV but has anyone heard Carlton Cole on Talksport, what a gobshite!
They scrape the barrell with pundits at times. Cole, agbonlahor, Danny Mills, Danny Murphy, sinclair. All talk utter crap

His punditry is turd but he's a great laugh

I’m not sure what my answer would be to this question but if Rovers were offered £6-7m for Ben today, would you want Rovers to bite their hands off or want him to stay?
If we got 7million, would it all be reinvested? Not sure. Would it be reinvested wisely, not at all. We'd buy another striker to take his place on the wing. I think I'd rather take a punt on this experience giving him a bit of confidence and him benefiting from training and playing with better players and him having a decent season.
-
He came to us with bags of potential, hasn't warranted his price tag when playing for us, then has a decent debut for Chile with positive reviews in the press. I've been scratching my head trying to think of the one variable that could cause that pattern of events 🤔🤔🤔

I am surprised that he is not an undisputed starter with you
Spend 5 minutes in the 'Tony Mowbray' thread, then nothing at this club will surprise you.

Is it really bad that Scotland fans are getting exciting considering how few and far between an appearance at a major tournament is for them? I would be the same I am sure. We can take for granted qualification, albeit more often than not we are on our way home early.
This would be a stupid tactical decision by Southgate if there is any truth:
4 full backs, Shaw at CB where he has never played, and totally changing the formation to try and protect one player. Why have 3 other centre backs in the squad?
Surley not? One full back in the back 3 yes but two? No thanks!

The majority on here have always been ready and eager to slate England. It didn't change after the surprise of 2018 and it probably never will.
It's common among a significant number of England fans. Tournament football comes round so infrequently that I find it much more enjoyable to go into each and every tournament with blind optimism.

Unfortunately looking at the state of the side, looks as if the manager doesn’t understand what’s being fed to him either… or he just ignores it. Because there’s surely no data analyst promoting the deployment of SG as a wide man (along with the other non sensical decisions).
And he certainly does ignore data re potential transfers… unless there’s a ‘connection to Teesside’ parameter on their software?
It's like auto trader. Tony just logs in

Yes, just watched the last episode now.
It was good, worth watching.
I didn't realise you could watch all three now. Tempted to watch it every Sunday night, there's something refreshing about watching TV the old fashioned way.

Thing about the speed to run in behind its not necessarily top speed that counts its your acceleration. Its why the likes of sterling and traore are a handful cos they can go from 0-60 in the blink of an eye. So whilst grealish and foden don't hang about, you need a sterling (preferably one who can shoot) or a rashford who can just switch it on and go. Even if they're not in form and not scoring, as long as they can sprint they'll drag players around and cause problems.
If we're playing 4 at the back I think you have Mount next to one of rice or Henderson. Kane up top with rashford on the left then 2 from foden grealish and sancho for the other two slots. If we're playing 3 at the back with wing backs you suddenly have a headache for the attacking spots.

Love Henderson and think he is massively underrated but he's got a shite shot on him and there's no way he should be taking pens

Talk of united trying AWB at centre back, its not the worst shout and if it pays off could be good for England. I think he's a cracking player defensively but not sure what he's like in the air?
-
And he'll have trained with the likes of sanchez and vidal which will do him no harm at all.

For me 5 at the back works well. Our full backs are class and given the extra security of 3 centre backs it allows them to bomb forwards and provide all the width we need.
I agree, 5 at the back doesn't concern me like it does some people. 3 CBs with rice or Henderson sitting gives our full backs chance to bomb on. If it works it not necessarily 5 at the back because when we're attacking there would be 6 or 7 bombing forward
-
Tbf I agree with that, TAA has been touted by some as a midfielder so a perfect time to do that experiment?

Giving the champions league players a games rest maybe?

Bit gutted for him, as it could well have been last chance saloon. Shame
This time round there's only one season until the world cup so I think if he can get a good move in the summer he'll make it to the world cup

is he better than Reece James or Kieran Tripper?
Different. Defensively arguably not but in an attacking sense, definitely. He's certainly someone I would look to bring on if we were struggling to break a team down. Or if we were trying to see a game out bring him on instead of a winger so we have someone who can offer and attacking threat whilst also having a defensive mind.
It's a 26 man squad this time round rather than 23. I think he is worthy of one of those three extra spots just cos he offers something a lot different to the others.

Speaking of tech support I've noticed when ever I phone IT now they always do or get me to do gpupdate force. Is this because they're self conscious about "switching it off and on again" becoming a bit of a joke. I'm fairly sure gpupdate doesn't apply to half the issues I've had.
