  1. Hes still inexperienced internationally though. 6 caps in which hes been 'meh', spent his whole career at Brighton. Limited experience getting to the business end of a knock out tournament. Just cos he's older doesn't make him experienced.
  2. All three surely there on merit? I can't argue with any of them being on the plane.
  3. That's pretty much what I was thinking as well. I feel like he was taking a good look at Konsa and his versatility last night but he didn't wow me and I'd rather have gomez. Bowen is the one on that list I could see going but it depends if he takes all three forwards or not.
  4. Yeah to be fair I'd take him but I don't think Southgate will take him.
  5. No one thinks we should be getting 60m plus for him whilst being in the championship but an 18m initial fee is insulting. We should have been getting north of 20 and closer to 25 on initial fee with some meaty add ons
  6. The stand out fringe players from last night for me were Eze and Wharton. With 26 players in the squad there's enough room for a wild card and for me that has to be Wharton out of all the uncapped / low capped players he's head and shoulders above everyone. I think Joe Gomez has to be on the plane and would like to see some more of him against Iceland. Would chop, Trafford, Quansah and Jones but that still leaves another 4 to cut. I make it 12 players who could play in the front 4 so that could be trimmed down but not sure who. I don't think Gordon makes the cut. Kane Watkins and Toney seems excessive but Kane has been carrying a bad back so we may need three as cover especially as we don't have someone like Rashford who can play thorugh the middle as cover.
  7. My gut instinct (and this could be my beers and rose tinted glasses) is that he makes the squad and I think he gets minutes at the euros. We don't have another player like him in the squad. I wonder if TAA starts in midfield and Wharton is his back up if we need something different.
  8. Did anyone else stop watching the game and just have their eyes fixed on Wharton?
  9. Assume waggot negotiated 50p per England cap so now we'll be able to treat the first team to a fredo to share between them at the start of pre season
  10. I'm 32. I'd say I was 6 or 7 before I started properly paying attention to football (I very vaguely remember the 98 world cup). So that's 25 years of being a Rovers fan. 14 of those have been under venkys. How depressing.
  11. Nail on head. It's just boring. When they sign exciting players e.g. Grealish he just turns them into boring clones with no personality. They may be the best at what they do but for sport to be entertaining their needs to be some jeopardy.
  12. Got to hand it to pep, great coach. He came into a squad which was already the best in the league and spent just £60-100m on each position and voila - 4 league titles in a row.
  13. Can't be fucked with city winning the league again. Can't wait till pep leaves.
  14. Lol what the fuck - what's he going to learn there? The best way to dunk a biscuit in your brew? What beer / takeaway combination works best on deadline day. It's like me doing my accounting qualification at Enron. What next? Leo Wahlstedts masterclass in coming for crosses? Sam Gallaghers guide to heading a ball? Ryan Hedges - how to stay fit for 3 games.
  15. Mateta doing wonders for my fantasy team at the moment
  16. Fadz for another year on the cheap and used sparingly would be a good bit of business (provided we sign other players as well).
  17. So what insultingly low fee are we selling Sammy for then? In all honesty I wouldn't begrudge him a move to the Prem - as much as I'd love to see him stay with us.
  18. Right now the only thing that needs to happen is that we don't conceade 2 goals...
  19. Am I right in thinking that the last club to be relegated on 50+ points was us? How is it that our most embarrassing seasons coincide with such a high safety bar!
  20. Surely the less they have to play for on the final day the better?
  21. If we want accuracy, get a system that allows accuracy to be achieved quickly. We don't want people agnosing over a couple of pixels on the screen. VAR has allowed the offside rule to be changed. Now if you are level, chances are you'll be ruled off cos you'll have a leg hair over the line. There's also the margin of error that comes with var. You can't tell the exact moment someone touches the ball you just know it is at some point between frame A and frame B. At 50 FPS, that means you know someone touched the ball at some point in a 0.02 second period. In that time period a player at a decent sprint speed of 30kph (8.3 metres per second) moves around 16cm. So it's not quite as objective as you think. Better technology is needed if you want to start arguing over toenails being offside.
  22. Offsides - VAR should get one freeze frame and if you can't tell within 10 seconds then go with the onfield decision. Other decisions, if there needs to ve a review, the ref should go to the monitor for it straight away. The ref needs to make sure that what he saw happen, happened the way he remembered it. No clear and obvious bollocks. It'll save time if the ref ran to the monitor saw a couple of angles and made a decision rather than have VAR look at it and send the ref to the monitor after 3 minutes. Ref standards have plummeted since VAR came in and I think it's cos refs and linesmen let things go cos they know that VAR will pick up any howlers. However when VAR look at it they say its not clear and obvious and stick with the onfield decision
