  1. This certainly makes me feel old. grew up during the Ian Wright era, watched Shaun-Wright Philips career and now in that u18 match City had his son D'Margio Wright-Phillips playing. D'Margio?
  2. Thanks for coming here and making that post - very insightful. I think the main issue is that under Venkies we have rarely spent other than our first season out of the prem when it was on has beens and wrong-uns. Its a big spend on a an obviously talented young lad when some feel we could have spent that money better on players that could have directly improved the starting eleven right now. We know that the fans at Forest rated him so that is something that we are clinging on to. He has obvioulsy only played a bit part so far an not in the position you have said, so I for one will not be making any judgement as of yet. At the end of the day, Danny Graham in my opinion is probably the best at what he does in this division so he wont be slotting in there just yet. I assume he is one for the future, albeit an expensive one.
  3. I think he would have been offered closer to what he and his performances were worth. I do think TM may have kept him if he had agreed to that lower fee but on the flip side I doubt he was overly bothered that he didn't. Lowe obviously felt he deserved his wage and assumed other clubs would snap him up. Didn't really work out like that and he had no choice to sign somewhere on realistic wages - he wont be getting anywhere near what he was here at Bolton.
  4. It is his consistent goals that are getting him highlighted but I do have a wry smile when media keep saying he has got all these goals from midfield. He is effectively a second-striker though one that comes from a little deeper and the team is basically set up around him. Graham is there to hold it up and bring others in and of course, Dack is going to get more goals than the others in the 3 simply because he is more central. He does play that position extremely well though so you cannot take it away from him. Especially when you consider that teams know he is our most dangerous player and will always setup to try and nullify him in some way. Like 47 said above, imagine if he was in a team that was more attack minded with many other stars for opponents to worry about - he could run havoc with all that additional space.
  5. Guess we are going to have to hope that Rodwell is what he says, a better CB than CM. What I cannot understand is that we have a hundred midfielders with many unable to get a game but we didnt really strengthen at the back. I thought we had lists, so if Bauer was A, where were the rest of them?
  6. Surprised anyone is defending this article. He is making out that a big portion of rovers fans want TM out and Warnock in. How can anyone defend that is beyond me as I have not heard a single person suggest we should be binning TM. People will have their complaints on team selections and tactics but jeez, that is the same at every club up and down the country.
  7. Picked three players that are not even here anymore? His teammates will love him for that haha.
  8. He will be gone sooner or later unless we have a good season challenging for the playoffs. 15 million bids rejected and now talk of 20+, the Venkies will be selling eventually while thinking TM is a genius to be able to turn 750k into such money after 1-2 years. Just hope that means they will allow him to reinvest a good chunk of that money.
  9. Could be good for us, might upset the season for Brentford and any new manager at Villa will have quite a job on his hands.
  10. Id perhaps give him a year extension with the option of another. That should keep him playing for his next contract.
  11. Mulgrew deserves a couple of years and Evans deserves an extension of some kind. The latter always worries me though, call it the cynic in me but he always seems to play well at the end of his contract. Back-end of last season and the start of this he has put in a shift but once a contract is signed he seems to revert to type of regularly being injured and not really playing all that well (until international call-ups are coming round). Hope I am wrong but we will soon see I guess.
  12. Deserves a couple of years plus the option of another in my opinion. Six years is a little on the crazy side though. Long and short - could probably have done a little better in keeping us the year before but ultimately his points record would have had us safe over a season so will not blame him on that. Just disappointing that 1 point found from somewhere would have been enough. L1 - Did what was asked really, we were favorites, spent more than anyone else and eventually went up. Was expectation and he delivered it - so good job. Ill admit that he baffles me sometimes with selections, being a little negative at times (okay, a lot of the time) but if there was one thing alone that he deserves a new contract for, it is the type of player he has brought in. The dressing room he has created and the way the players connect with the fans has not been seen since long before the Venksters. A never die atattitude, hard work and a keenness to improve is what TM wants to see from his players and so far, it is hard to argue that it is not bearing fruit.
  13. I wouldn't even be selling him for that anyway. If they are advised well (hahahahahaha), they will know that the more he shines int his division, the more he is worth. Under contract, still fairly young, English and could be worth so much more to a promotion candidate (in terms of ultimate prize). I still do not even think we have seen close to the best of him yet this season either.
  14. Yeboah was a great striker. Thought he hit a better one against Wimbledon though
  15. Sounds like Rodwell and Rothwell had very good games. Makes team selections going forward much more of a headache for TM.
  16. Not the worst time to be playing them having stuttered a little lately but it will still be a very tough game.
  17. Agree, my worry is someone else will be in his ear sooner then later - need to tie him to a longer contract.
  18. Wilder and Smith would be the obvious candidates but would either leave mid-season after doing so well with their current clubs? Brentford are a good side after seeing us versus them, they have some good players in key areas and play some nice stuff.
  19. They saying he was anonymous...obviously did not see the match and are clouded by his past. Also laughing he was subbed on 60 minutes - of course he is not right up to speed yet and will need games.
  20. Sign Rodwell up - just not on 70kpw Like what I see so far.
  21. For the role that Graham does for the team, I dont think I would swap him for anyone else in the division. I just wish he was five years younger as we will struggle to replace his qualities. You can tell he really enjoys it here too and his connection with Dack is a joy to behold.
  22. Still young and as others have said, he was a CM previously. He has the ability and qualities to become a good Cb but these rash decisions of his need cutting out. We cannot keep giving sloppy penalties away - though he has been fortunate that two have been missed. I think Rodwell has shown enough to be backup CB now.
  23. Huh? "The ref against Villa had a soft spot for the poor man Bradley Dack Jack Grealish. He got everything." Can you please speak English?
