  1. One of mine too, scored some fantastic goals as well and I was really gutted when he moved to Liverpool. Was another to find out that the grass is not always greener.
  2. Well, certainly hope its true. Who is this other I wonder?
  3. Not according to Sharpe who says noone to come in today.
  4. Agree, he certainly has the pace to be able to - perhaps this will come with confidence.
  5. Williams did drill in that cross for the Ipswich goal so I will give him that but yes but that Bell pass was a clever ball and not something you would see from Williams. Both Bell and Nyambe seem a bit hesitant sometimes to go at defenders but like you say, this might be more to do with what TM wants.
  6. Bad footballers do not command 30 million in transfer fees and play for England. Sure, he has obviously lost his way after the Sunderland drama but nobody can say that there isn't a player there somewhere.
  7. I thought Bell has played well generally since coming in and offers more going forward than Williams does.
  8. But you could flip it around the other way for some - opinions and all that.
  9. Cannot see us getting much from the game with AA and Dack out - time for Palmer to show his talent in the 10 role.
  10. Not seen enough of him. Hope he shakes off this injury soon. Did very well at Burton with some saying he gave them the best debut they had ever seen from a player
  11. Reed actually played right wingback most of the season for Norwich while on loan. Could be a smart loan as adds to our monstrous numbers in the middle of the park but also gives us backup/competition for Nyambe.
  12. If he is the only one coming in permanently and we dont get a couple more in, I will agree its not been the best window. Striker and winger needed in my opinion - get two of good quality in permanently and the Rodwell deal in isolation does not seem so bad to me.
  13. Harrison Reed sounds more like someone you would go to for legal advise or to buy a house.
  14. Is AA out for this match? Pretty sure Dack will be back (hopefully) Again, without those two, we are looking very thin in areas, Conway getting in for a big example.
  15. Exactly, Who in their right mind is going to rip up a contract given to them worth 3.6 million a year? Times that by 4 before he got his 40% this season, and thats 14.4 million quid plus whatever they agreed with him to get him out on his final year. People can act all morale on it but nobody would do that. Clubs fault for offering the stupid contract and not putting in a proper relegation clause. Since he refused to rip it up he has been treated badly by being put in the reserves to rot in the hope that he leaves but stood firm. They also say that he had other offers to go to other clubs but again, those clubs would not be paying even half of that wage level - so again he would be throwing money away. He says he has been available to play but they were just not interested.
  16. Good post. Yes I think TM wanted Evans/Smallwood to fight for the same place with Whittingham being the quarterback in midfield with what was supposed to be excellent passing ability. As it panned out he got an early injury and even when he played it was quite clear his legs were gone and it wasnt going to work. This meant he had to play two similar players which just seemed odd. Why did we need to defensive style players in midfield when chasing promotion and most clubs coming and parking the bus on us. I feel this is why we never really steamrolled teams in the same way that Wigan did on occasion. We didnt really have anyone else that could slot in there and ping the balls around so had no choice. He has tried to address that this season too having been linked to McGinn, that American lad and now that lad from Southampton whilst also bringing in Davenport. Two defensive mids will actually probably suit us a bit more in this division on occasion as teams will come at us more rather than park up but we still need a player in there that can play a bit. I think he lucked on Rothwell a bit because i feel he was bought to play further up but showed on Wednesday night that he can play very effectively in the middle as well.
  17. Yup, I think we could and should have won all games to date but for poor finishing an errors at the back. This does of course bode well but it just shows you how in this league you get punished more for your errors and for wasting chances. Its just pleasing to be able to say that possibly bar Millwall, we have been the best team in all matches and had the big chances to win them. Dont think he needs replacing but he does need stronger competition.
  18. Then he has to force his way in then - which it will be tough to dislodge our captain and future captain from the back.
  19. I think he meant think Hughes and Bellamy with regards to Hughes revitalising the career of Bellamy. He hopes TM can do the same for Rodwell.
  20. We couldnt believe you paid us $500k for Steele - it was surreal. You guys paid 2/3 of the fee for Bradley Dack for us. Anyway, you guys have had a tough few seasons so I hope you enjoy league 1 and come back in better shape for the championship next season. We know what it feels like to go from PL to Championship and then to L1 but at least there were a few years in between, a double relegation must have felt terrible. It does give you a chance to rebuild though as another poster said. All the high earning dross can be shipped out and you can start adding young and hungry players like we did on sensible wages. This type of player wants to succeed and perfrom at a higher level so they are hungry and will give more for the shirt. On Rodwell, the jury is well and truly out and this is probably his last chance saloon - so lets see how it goes.
  21. it feels great to win games - be one of the top dogs no matter what league. Once you out of it, you have that winning habit and im sure you will be fine in the Championship just as i think we will be this season. Thanks for buying Steele btw
  22. Dont think anyone is having a go at the Mackems, jus trying to get both sides of the story. We will soon find out if the guy is a dud and if so - off he goes at the end of his cheap contract.
  23. I don't think any man with a sane mind would rip up a 5-year contract worth 70k a week. Sure, saying football is more important is a bit of a lie really, it obviously isn't while you are earning a fortune. It was basically about the 'football' if someone matches my contract. You say 'if your career had peaked' Come on, wouldnt matter if your career was in the early stages - that money is huge.
  24. Yup L1 is fun as hell - you guys should bounce up easily, get 90+ points on the board, score tons of goals and cross off grounds. I would say its less competitive than we were there, Shrewsbury sold half their squad, Peterborough too, Charlton are a mess - should be a walk over really.
