Silly post. We bought him what? 3 seasons ago? On the grand scale, what has he done? Was a poor transfer at the time, and even now, still is. Love the lad and hopefully this will help him to push on. But, people suggesting he signs a new contract is kind of in defense of completely blowing that 7 mil (plus wages). He was decent this season (compared to others) and is probably a first team starter now. Hopefully he pushes on after his Chilean exploits. Coming on here and defending his transfer like it was some kind of genius move after a single goal against Bolivia - clutching at straws mate.

Still think the aim was to splash out on a striker that season. We had Assombolonga linked, Gallagher was also linked the season before we got him - think even Bamford was approached. Remember all sorts of sob stories about not being able to compete with wages etc. Targets indeed fell away and we had the money burning a hole in our pocket so stumped up for the young Brereton who would not have been on insane wages but was yet to prove himself. Most of us knew defense should have been the priority and would much rather have spread that cash around on 3 or 4 players.

Hardly adds up to 12 million though does it? 4 mil tops. It was clear the ex Shrewsbury boss was out of his depth anyway. Buying up a team of L1 players - which surprisingly got relegated to L1. Think the original point was that we could have got 10 players for both BB and SG which could have proved better value in the end. Would not be be happy with 8 of those coming from a lower league than the club was in.

Sigh. Just because you don't want to live there, it doesn't mean young lads who earn millions don't. London is a big attraction to young lads with money.

No bids have come in yet, but even if it was only Fulham coming in for him - he would be bonkers not to go. Same division yes, but with a stronger chance of promotion, a signing on fee, and better wages. Plus, who knows if if will have another chance - would he get the same or close to the same amount of goals for us this season? He, like the team, started on fire as flat track bullies and he had something like 12 goals before the season even really got going. Then we got figured out and eventually went on the worst run in the clubs history (at least my history). Two hat tricks in the last couple of dead rubbers allowed him to buff his tally. I hope he does, but if he stays, he wont be getting 20+ this coming season with us. 15 tops i reckon.

On a free no way. Mainly because we saw flashes this season and like other players, has been mightily mismanaged by TM. I would like to see what a fresh manager would do with him. Plus, I would not trust TM with getting in anyone better and with AA likely to go too - we would be well short in the forward areas.
