it happns, how many times on here have people said player X is having a stinker who then goes on to score in the next few minutes. Big difference between thinking BB was a poor signing and BB getting abused. I thought and still do that 7 mil for him back then was a bad transfer. He has been fantastic so far this season and I have always wanted him to do well. Never had anything personal against the lad, he didnt ask to be bought for that much and i feel he has been used wrongly. Straight after the last result, i went to his thread to give him praise. Best player on pitch today and that's saying something considering the performances of Holtby and Elliot. Hope this is the start of us getting the player we hoped for. Seems confident and this will only increase after today. Chuffed for the boy.

In 18/19, they sold Dan Burn and Will Grigg for 4 mill a piece to pay for all that. Also sold off 4 or 5 players to League 1 for nominal fees. in 19/20, admittedly they paid out about 7 million in fees but they did bring in a reported 1-2 million for Leonardo da SIlva Lopez to Hull. They also let go of quite a few high earners including Nick Powell, Callum Macmanananananaman, James Vaughn and Darren Gibson. We spent 10 million in fees first season up and brought none in. Then had a net spend of 2 million last season with DR leaving and SG coming in. If you want to go down free transfers route, we have picked up some expensive ones in Johnson, Downing, Holtby, and Rodwell in that time. if you were to break it all down, I would say we had double the net spend in that two year period. Sure, wages wont be hugely different but even when we shared league 1, only Nick Powell was on anything like what the likes of Mulgrew, Evans, and Graham were on. So I think we pay a little better than them too.

I think most would say that on paper we now have the squad (strength and depth) that is good enough for top 6. Could we have said that before under TM? He has been given the time and money and not had to sell - so failure to get to top 6 would solely be on him now? That is my view anyway - if he fails to do it this season, he really does have to go even if we fell short by 1 point or goal, top 6 is the expectation and not the target. Fail and he really has to go. Coventry up next, if he doesn't get the 3 points from that - I think the knives will be out already anyway.

We need Travis and Rothwell back and certainly Trybull in the team ASAP. Evans is Evans, half the player he is for his country (treats our games as warmups) and Johnson had two good games, one against the whipping boys, and another against his old team who he wanted to make a point to (who are in dire straits anyway) and since then he is back to what we know of him. Tbf, he works best in a midfield of Holtby and Rothwell who give the creativity and drive respectively but i'd still have Trybull in there for now until Travis gets back. Douglas needs to be in next game (should have been this one as dont buy that he is not fit seeing as he has played in the PL this season and was part of the infamous Beisla training regimes). Lenihan has gone backwards, not sure if it is being partnered up with the outspoken (on the pitch at least) Ayala or the fact both are right-footed but so far it has not worked out between them. Kaminski in the main has been OK but he has shown some weaknesses now. Elliott looked bright, intelligent and always trying to make something happen. Perhaps he tried a little too hard but I think he will be a good addition to our frontline. BB had a better game and that was a decent goal although not as fantastic as some made out. Bit of a howler from their keeper tbh. AA had another poor game. He has many of these but often pops up with a wonder goal out of nothing - which have dried up this season so far.
