Whilst this has been an extremely frustrating window I do believe the 2 signings that we have actually been able to make have something about them. Clarkson impressed on his debut, showing a keen eye for the forward passes, though I did struggle to understand why he was played as far forward as he did considering he’s a deep lying midfielder. Poveda is one that excites me. Offers us pace and individualism and has always been the kind of player from what I’ve seen of him that gets fans off their seats. The jury is out though when it comes to his final product and his impact in a more physical championship. I think now focus has to be on a permanent signing or two. Striker of course has to be the priority, does anyone have info regarding names that we are looking at? I think at centre back we are really well covered with the emergence of Carter, he will make the odd mistake over the season but he is clearly ready for this level. With Wharton also to come back we have a real quality in that position. I wouldn’t mind a left back on loan, as Pickering needs back up, and I can imagine circino being able to step up as a back in a year or two, so a perm signing is not needed there. Having said that TM has a mind of his own so we will have to see how things play out.

Would be shocked if that happens. Watched a lot of leeds last year as my house mate was a diehard leeds fan, so saw Poveda quite a lot. He’s quality and looked very useful as an impact player in the prem last season. Would be a class signing.

I really hope it’s Kaminski rwb: Buckley cb: Lenihan, Carter, Ayala lwb: Pickering cm: clarkson, Travis, Rothwell st: Gally, Diaz 5-3-2. play direct and use gally and Diaz’s physicality.

Interested in what our starting 11 will be today. With Nymabe out and Pike playing for the under23s last night it looks impossible for us to line up with 3/5 at the back, which is how I expected us to approach this game.

While I understand the sentiment I have to disagree with this. There are gems in league 1 who if can be found can be a real asset to any club in this division. Importantly they don’t require sizeable transfer fees or wages. For example, Pickering - I don’t think anyone can disagree that he is an upgrade on Douglas and Bell. Not only that he is 22, and only has had a handful of games at this level, He’s only going to get better. Not only that he has delivered 2 assists already. I know he has his doubters in this forum, but I believe by the end of the season there will be no doubt of his quality. There are many other examples. However if you are buying and relying on players who are just league one quality players, rather than players who are playing in league one that are a class above, with no sizeable room for growth of development then of course you are going to struggle. In terms of Dale, I haven’t heard much of him. However he is 22, scored 11 goals from wide positions last season and offers our squad pace, something we desperately lack. 500k are the rumoured fees involved, with Crewe fans adamant on Twitter that he is worth at least double that. From what it sounds like, he is probably worth the gamble, but it is by no means a guarantee and I would still expect us to bring a more establish forward player in.

Seems more hopeful than other sources have been. Also mentions that fee is at a fraction of 6m - I’d guess at around the 2m mark. The Dembele rumours are interesting. He’d be a really good signing, with potential for a much larger resell value.

Kaminski Nymabe/Pike Carter Ayala Lenihan Pickering Buckley Travis Rothwell Diaz Gally Wear Brom play at 100mph and rely on a high intensity press to force errors and create chances. We can best counter that by going direct and bypassing their press, and with Gally and Diaz up top we have the physicality and power to not only hold up the ball but also to hit Brom on the counter. There is no doubt that for long parts of this game we are going to have our backs up against the wall, but we have the defensive unit to stand up to that, especially with 5 at the back. Having said that we could really do with Nymabe being fit. If we can stay in this game then we can throw Dolan and Chapman on for the final 20/30, who will hopefully take advantage of tired legs. This is a free hit for us considering our recent form and West Brom’s rightly so favourites tag, so am looking forward to it without much pressure. As always though am optimistic that we can get at least a point, maybe even 3.

Ridiculous decision. This is an example of where I believe TM fails to trust our academy players, despite the plaudits he has for playing young players. This would be the perfect opportunity to give one of our top prospects game time and too see what he’s about. Buckley at RWB is a recipe for disaster.

Hughton always beats us. Can’t see that changing today as this is just a typical game that Blackburn lose. 7 points from 3 would be our best start to a season in probably over a decade - hence why we’ll probably lose and end up with an average 4. On top of that Forest will be desperate for a win with them currently sitting on 0 points - they’ll be up for it and I don’t see us matching that. Would love to see BigBen take the game by the scruff of the neck and show his old team what they are missing. Him turning up is key to us having any chance in this game as he’s our only player, other than Rothwell, that can truly be relied on to make something happen in the final third. Kean Bryan would be a class free agent signing. Was very decent for Sheffield United last season in the Prem - he turned down a new deal with them. Can’t see him coming our way if Boro and Warnock are interested.

Fulham mates now saying there local sources claiming there’s interest - still can’t see it happening with Munoz set to join them.

This is a non starter. Two of my closest mates are die hard fulham fans and claim they are about to sign a Brazilian striker named Munoz (?) for about 7m. No way they go in for Obafemi after him and already owning mitrovic.

Although this is ‘young prem loan’ it’s a signing which I’m behind. Midfield is a position we are desperately short in and this lad comes with strong reviews supported by his involvement around the liverpool first team for the past 12 months. As a Blackburn fan you know he’s going to give it his all. It’s a good start, albeit a very late one.

That would be a ridiculously good signing
